Dating from the 14th century, The Old Vicarage hotel offers cooked breakfasts, a pretty cottage garden and rooms with historical features. The hotel is situated in Bridgwater, in scenic Somerset.
Score from 229 reviews Very good
Bed comfortable, Furniture rather dated nice large bathroom.Breakfast ample.
The price as dear as a good hotel.
Breakfast was nice, but felt we were sitting in a hall way.
First sign you see on arriving/entering is that front door is locked at 11pm. Room key had to be hung up on a hook outside our room when going out. Not comfortable with that as anyone could have had access to our room. Felt it was a family home first and guest house second. more
Close to the sea front Breakfast tasted nice Room was clean
Although the lady was friendly she didn't really show us around. Breakfast was in the hotel hall. You didn't have a choice of cereal. The shower head kept falling of the wall, I had to stand in the bath and hold the shower head. The room was all mix and match. The whole hotel was untidy and messy, not dirty but loads of stuff everywhere
We visited for a family party and was told door gets locked at 11pm.we came back at 12.45 and the landlady opened door but felt we cdnt stay out later as she was waiting up for us.guests should be allowed to come and go as they please not have a curfew like a child. Main door key should be issued to guests.
It was very clean.
Breakfast. Not much choice
In general our overall stay was very good clean rooms, very nice lady, and excellent breakfast.
The idea of being in an old mansion
Stuffiness, dated decor
Guest house was clean with adequate car parking
Proprieter was unfriendly and did not seem to want any guests! Breakfast was awful and you could tell the ingredients were value range being greeted by cereals covered by paper towels when you come down for breakfast is not acceptable for the price i paid. The eleven oclock curfew is a joke in a seaside town and if i hadnt have booked upfront would have left after the first night, this should be advertised clearly so people are aware before they book. The proprieter is not suited to the hospitality industry barely a few words were shared in the three days we stayed.
Dangerous electrics Water dripping through light fitting
Breakfast and beds and host.
Wi fi did not always work
Near to town.clean tidy.parking good.
Shower could do with up dating.choice of cereal at breakfast, cereal already in bowl on table.
The friendliness of the hostess The actual room, the way the furniture was organised and the room was spotless.
The shower did not work and there was no bath. We were not offered an alternative The organisation of breakfast could have been better. There was no choice of cereals - one type already placed in a bowl. An alternative of yoghurt or fruit would have been preferred. Two slices of toast were included as part of the fried breakfast. We would have preferred to have been given the toast separately to eat with marmalade or jam.
value for money BRILLIANT night sleep full breakfast and oj.
We liked the house we stayed in. Parking facilities were good. Breakfast was nice. Nice and clean
Would have liked more choices at breakfast.
Nice place and service
Easy to find. Adequate facilities.
The triple room was lovely, spacious and clean. Very comfortable, and everything we needed including fresh milk
I have never had the cereal at breakfast presented to me already in the bowl before, with no choice. Hard luck if you had a nut allergy! We don't, but it was a possibility! Also, although eggs were offered, poached was not an option.
Our double room had everything we needed and was spotlessly clean.
There wasn't enough breakfast and not a proper dining room. Surprised there was only one member of staff.
Beds were very comfortable
Lack of choice for breakfast
Friendly owner, great breakfast - I recommend!
Extremely quiet. Very comfortable bed. Lovely hot breakfast. Very relaxing.
Nikki was a friendly host, even though the water was off in the entire area when we arrived, meaning we had to wait until the following morning to have a shower!
Nothing, it was a typical seaside B&B, very pleasant.
All we can say,it was near to my Aunties place.
We both had a busy day,all we wanted to go back too have bath and shower,we was told no water. There was a burst pipe. At breakfast there was just bran flakes and bananas in a dish, never had a choice.we had a jug of orange drink, wasnt juice,we had no other choice. As a catering manager by trade, the breakfast was done cheap. All the places we have stayed, breakfast could have been better. Guest house could have been more friendly.
I felt the bed and breakfast needed much improvement and updating, it is very old fashioned through out, the bathroom ceiling was covered in damp or mould.also the building was surrounded by scafolding with ladders and this made us feel unsafe. There were no fire evacuation procedures to follow and our food to our room had to be forced shut as it was misshaped. We payed £86 for one night stay, wish I'd have searched further for alternative accommodation, also more like half an hour walk to beech not 5 min stroll as it states.
