Very helpful staff, great food. Room was very well laid out & clean
Smell of the gents down stairs by the bar was very bad. You could even smell it in the reception. Felt sorry for the person sitting at the desk.
Extremely friendly and helpful staff, was comfortable, with well appointed rooms, good breakfast and overall was really good value.
Room was slightly smaller than average but this was compensated for by facilities.
Richard was excellent and his service would be enough to make me return, as a female lone traveller he went out his way to make me feel at ease.Food was very good
Hotel is tired in places, carpets especially on the stairs
Views over the moorlands
Lack of ventilation in the bedroom. The info in the bedroom stating you may be fined or asked to leave the hotel if you brought your own food or drink onto the premises.
Breakfast was really nice, good quality and all hot at the same time (unusual I've found!) Lovely views and location and the staff were professional.
Looking dated in corridors and furnishing. Needs a repaint and some tlc.
After returning from a wedding nearby we got access to our room, the bathroom hadn't been cleaned, there were hairs on the floor and toothpaste spittle in the sink, the room wasn't what I'd expect from a £120 a night room. We were woken by a yapping dog on the corridor by our room, then there was a brief fire alarm that went off, and there was constant slamming and banging of doors along the corridor.
I use this hotel a lot - excellent.
Good food, comfy bed, good staff.
Noisy wedding on, although they did place us on the 3rd floor the bass coming through was v loud until 12:30 am! Bathroom rather dated and unfinished. TV reception very poor - tried to watch a film to mask the noise, but kept losing reception.
Great room, excellent restaurant and Bar, polite, friendly and helpful staff, quiet location with lovely views, bed very comfortable. plenty of parking. very convenient for city shopping, moors, natural beauty spots and places of interest.
Clean quiet and comfortable
very freindly staff great food and excellent views
Staff, Food, Bar, rooms, breakfast !
Wi-Fi in the bedroom did not work.
Location and views
Standard of room poor, bathroom requires mondern update. Stairs and Landings require painting and new carpets. Restaurant poor cleanliness tables not cleaned food not very hot and replaced regularly.
Lovely location , staff welcoming & hotel reception , bars & restaurant where of high standard . Food was excellent & staff were helpful at all times.
We were a little disappointed with the room . Looks lovely on the pic but up close is in dire need of uplifting. Expecially the dated advocado bathroom suite. Felt more like staying in a b&b than a manor!
Everything but the bathroom
Everything was great except the bathroom which we considered poor and bordering on dangerous. The bath (which was one of my main reasons for booking) was far too narrow, could only be filled with the shower head, the screen was siliconed, restricting entry to the bath, and a bidet at the other end stopped exiting the bath/shower safely, the towel rail had obviously been used in previous occasions as a grab rail as it was loose of the wall, bath was also too narrow for turning in the shower safely, the bathroom was the only problem, the rest was fab.
Room rather small and thin walls.
Great bed big room wonderful food, great bar prices. Would go back again
TV in room was small and bathroom/ shower could do with updating but the owners only been there 1 yr so let's see what happens over time.
The food menu was reasonable and tasty.
It was a exceptionally hot day and the room did not have air con, which for the majority of the year would not be utilised
The food was very good and well priced
The room was filthy, not as described and not at all like any of the photos, it was very dated with a bathroom that didn't function, the toilet flush didn't work and the shower was a warm drizzle, very very disappointing and that's not to mention the police presence due to the fight between guests and the smell of urine in reception. I would not hurry back!!!
It is perfect!
Nothing at all
Great food and staff very friendly. Looks like an 80's motel from the out side. very stylish inside
bath room needs up-dating to make it perfect.
Great restaurant with beautiful views of the Peak District. Easy drive into Manchester and the Peak District.
Fan in the bathroom went on as soon as you entered, making a lot of noise. We could hear the fans from the rooms next to us.
The restaurant was wonderful especially as it was our wedding anniversary.
Was a little disappointed that having notified the hotel it was our anniversary there was no recognition of it by the hotel and we were in a room, allbeit with a patio but no view.
Everything. Lovely Moors view. Spotless and modern hotel. Fab food. Prices great. Best Brekkie I've eve had!
Not a thing.
The location is excellent with plenty of parking. The Downstairs restaurant area and front bar have a good modern feel to them. All members of staff were friendly.
Firstly I booked a Superior/Executive room and to be frank other than the size there was nothing Executive about it. The Bed Area was fine but the bathroom had a strange arrangement for the shower i.e. A non thermostatic mixer I think took ages to get the right temperature. For the sink there was actually two differing types from what I remember. Secondly and basically what totally spoilt the whole thing for was the wedding reception that was on not only did the whole building almost shake from the Disco but you could hear people outside till about 3 in the morning. It also meant that you really couldn't have enjoyed a peaceful drink in the garden on a nice summers night. In the morning during breakfast I went to the downstairs toilet to find toilet roll everywhere and well to put it simply a state you might see a toilet in at a city centre nightclub at 3am. I wanted this to peaceful night away for me and my Girlfriend (you would expect this given the location) but I might as well had a city centre hotel which at least would of being a few floors up from the noise.
