Situated on the banks of the River Ouse, The Queens Hotel is ideally located for the many shops, restaurants and bars that the centre of York has to offer.
Score from 1300 reviews Good
The Guy Fawkes Inn stands next to York Minster and was the birthplace of the notorious plotter, Guy Fawkes. The Inn offers 4-star rooms with free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs and home-cooked food.
Score from 616 reviews Very good
This 4-star hotel is in quiet gardens, next to York Rail Station and looking out over York Minster. It has stylish rooms and a sauna, steam room and heated indoor pool.

everything about our stay was was great ,
Quiet and comfortable Just next to the main tourist areas.
Great place to stay, will be going back later this year.
Friendly Staff, very near the town centre. Comfortable clean rooms, good breakfast. Nice little hotel bar. The décor is quaint and in keeping with York. Would definitely return.
Would have been nice to offer some natural yogurt at breakfast to go with the fruit. Parking not great as limited spaces out back, but we were offered a permit for a bit down the road, and this wouldn't stop me from returning.
Lovely welcome. Attentive staff. Coffee and cake! Lovely breakfast. Clean and cozy room. Lovely lounge with fire and bar. Perfect location close to lovely and quaint shops as well as restaurants and bars. Next to a lovely church and musesum gardens. Views of the Minster. Will be back. Thank you.
We did not book the flat a mix up the room at 1.15 had not even been worked on and was not prepared for walk for breakfast not ideal for a 1 night stay
Loved the location - perfect for walking into the city. Friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was excellent.
the coach house is a wonderful hotel brimming with character.Cosy lounge and bar area with ingle nook fire place and wooden beams. The hotel is steeped in history going back 300yrs.The staff are very friendly, polite and helpful. The location of the hotel is fantastic, only a 10 min. walk into the city.
Room [1 ] is under a room that has creaking floor boards when guests are walking around which is very disruptive when relaxing and sleeping.Issue raised with proprietor and concluded satisfactorily
Friendliness of the staff of women, quaint rooms in a very quaint, historical building, location, location, location, great breakfasts, plenty of heat during a cold weather month. We are repeat clients, so that should say it all.
Our room did not have a bathtub...but we sacrificed that for what we did have. All rooms are very individualistic depending on the architecture of the building.
Pleasant little hotel
The room was too small and uncomfortable trying to relax and watch TV. The window didn't allow for daylight and privacy at the same time - a half net curtain would be good
Oak beams and great location
We had a nights stay at this hotel and after reading such good reviews we felt disappointed after being put in a very basic small room with no character at all. We were 'lucky' to get moved to another room which was better but still felt that we paid over the odds
The fact we were put in proberbly the worst room in the hotel, it was noisy, small and lacked character, especially when the hotel were aware it was for a special occasion.
Nice old hotel with complimentary cake and coffee served daily. Good location, view of the Minster and close to the river. Young girl who checked us in was very nice and friendly and check-in was quick.
Didn't get a minute of sleep due to how noisy the hotel is. Constantly creaking floorboards kept us awake all night and paper thin walls meant we had to listen to another guests conversations until 4:30am. Ruined my wife's birthday! On checking out we asked to leave our cases and were told to put them in the corner in full view and near the stairs to the rooms...not exactly secure!! Rudely told that they have CCTV! That doesn't stop people stealing things!!
Cossy & friendly. Nice atmosphere. Excellent location.
Stairs a bit steep for elderly.
We stayed in December and we were greeted with a glass of mulled wine. And then in the room Chocolate Brownies. Lovely little touches. Great location. Good value for money. Would certainly stay again.
excellent location away from the hustle and bustle of york very clean couldnt fault it at all
nothing really to dislike really
Very pleasant location, near the centre (Minster/Shambles) yet up a quiet side street and a few steps away from some lovely gardens you could walk through to get to York centre very quickly. It is a very old and attractive building but the stairs up to our bedroom were very steep which could cause a problem for some.
There was nothing you could possibly dislike when the staff are constantly trying to do their very best for you!
The original features and homeliness
Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, lovely breakfasts and ideal location.
Bed was uncomfortable.
Location and warm room
Parking , no mention on booking that you are expected to leave your car keys so staff can move your vehicle if they need to let other people out whilst you are out also at the price we paid breakfast should be included. Lorries unloading outside room from early morning as renovation work being carried out on land opposite wouldnt recommend or stay here again
We loved how long the inn had been running. We personally seek out places that feel old but have the modern perks. It was such a great place with a great view. The gate is right there to walk into York and shop and eat. Will be back for sure.
On walking in the welcome was very friendly from staff, complimentary mulled wine and mince pies were on offer each day in the bar area, the bedroom was very roomy and comfortable, with a very nice bathroom which had a lovely spacious shower. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
There wasn't anything I didn't like, but if I was being very very picky,I would have liked the shower to have been more powerful.
Hotel situated by the city wall, only a couple of minutes walk to the shops through a lovely park. Free car park. Very helpful staff. Free complimentary cake, mince pies, mulled wine, coffee or tea on arrival.
We expected a larger room for the price we paid, £160 for one night, but the owner said the hotel was being updated in the new year and our small room was being changed into a bathroom. So would defiantly stay again
Lovely accomadation . A short walk to York Minster & shopping. Lovely touches including free mulled wine and cakes . Highly recommended x
As the building is very very old, the floorboards are very creaky! We could hear every footstep of the people above us
Location excellent, only a matter of minutes walk into the centre. Breakfast good & plenty of choice. Reasonable prices at the bar.
Wi-Fi signal quite poor, kept cutting out. Room on front overlooked building site, quite noisy first thing in the mornings.
