Where do I start? If you spent a night in the most sought after and exclusive five star hotel in Mayfair you wouldn't leave feeling the way you do after leaving Coast. I can honestly say that this was the best bed and breakfast I have visited in 48 years! I couldn't agree more with a previous reviewer who commented that you are treated more as a friend than a guest throughout your stay. Mario and Vivien make it look so easy - they appear to love what they do (which must in fact be very hard work at times) and make you feel as though you are the most important guest they have ever had stay with them. I genuinely don't feel you would get a better experience irrespective of how much you were prepared to pay or where in the world you travel to. The discrete way in which everything works so smoothly - the way your room is serviced whilst you are eating breakfast, the professionalism and courtesy of the ancilliary staff...I Now realise how mediocre many of the other places I have stayed have been in reality. I challenge subsequent guests to find a different experience- any guest who found something to complain about here is seriously beyond help - it it places like this that make you realise how over priced and sub standard other bed and breakfasts are. Thank you so much, Mario and Vivien, you have got 2015 off to the best start I could have hoped for.....
The fact that any other guest has not given you 10 out of 10 for everything - I have checked back for months and months and all the ones with brains have - I would love to meet the person who said they hadn't enjoyed their stay and gave it a disappointing grading - I can only presume they must have misunderstood the question or been under the influence when completing the evaluation! Or maybe they were jealous of the competition: I think they should be!
We were made to feel more like friends . Nothing seemed to much trouble . We do go to eastbourne a few times a year , and would really look forward to staying at the coast guest house again . Really lovely stay and really lovely people . Couldnt have asked for more .
There isnt anything that we could think of that we didnt like
Owners are Very Friendly and Helpful Breakfast Spot On very Clean Beautiful Themed Rooms
Good luck finding something you dont like about your stay at COAST
We had a really warm welcome from Viv and Mario. Tea and cake in the conservatory were most welcome on arrival after a long drive. Their hospitality was wonderful. The breakfast was excellent - real attention to detail on the quality and presentation of the cooked breakfast and the fresh fruit salad lived up to expectations from earlier reviews. We couldn't have been better looked after. We'll be back!
Mario and vivien were very welcoming and hospitable. Lovely clean house and rooms tastefully decorated . Would definitely stay again.
From start to finish , nothing was too much trouble . Always a smile on both there faces. Breakfast was brilliant . Will definately go back there soon
The weather ,But the sea was spectacular
The welcome we received was lovely, offer of a cup of tea and homemade banana cake! The couple accommodated our request to book in early as we had a wedding that afternoon with no quibble at all. Parking was easy. We were right on the beach front. We would definitely stay here again.
The car parking - and the owners were fantastic - nothing was too much trouble.
Comfortable, interesting, well furnished rooms, accommodating hosts, very good breakfast.
The welcome was unbelievabel. A cup of tea with a home made slice of delicious chocolate cake. Both Vivien and Mario could not do enough and there friendly banter was refreshing. The Breakfast was superd. What a fruit salad must have taken half the night to prepare! The choice was endless and everything really fresh and off course home cooked. If you are fed up with high prices and especially being treated like a number with plastic purple surroundings and mould in the bathroom, then this is the place you are looking for. Well done Vivien and Mario, see you next time. Peter M. Glastonbury
Dislike? - There was nothing to dislike. Everything was the way service should be.
The owners were so welcoming (cup of tea and cake on arrival), friendly and it was such a lovely place to stay. I had a single room and it was a very good size, clean and anything you would wish for.
There was nothing I didn't like
The friendly welcome made us feel at home from the start. Lovely accomodation (Castle suite) is perfect for couple and two children. Freshly cooked breakfast with eldest saying "it's the best poached egg she's ever had!"
That we had to leave.
A warm welcome from Mario and Viv with tea and cake and a friendly chat set the scene for our stay. We had the good-sized Yacht room on the top floor with immaculate decor and furnishings, a large, very comfortable bed, plentiful tea/coffee and shower gel/shampoo, and with a wonderful view over the sea; a light and airy room, important in view of the very hot temperatures outside. Parking fine around the back. Breakfast was excellent: freshly cooked English and a fresh fruit salad to die for, plus the usual peripherals. Loved the chats we had with Mario and Viv about Italy and the Eastbourne locality and life in general. It's a very personable place to stay. The warmth of your stay remains with you long after you've left. Would thoroughly recommend!
Great hosts! Lovely rooms and the best fruit salad in the world for breakfast-plus perfect poached eggs!
Most we appreciated hospitality of Mario and Vivian. We felt very comfortable.
Without doubt the best b and b we have stayed in. Lovely breakfast, great location and very clean and comfortable throughout, and the nicest and most helpful hosts in Mario and Vivien that you could ask for. Will definitely be back
the bed was comfortable
Very friendly with cake and tea on arrival. Room was lovely with a sea view.
There was nothing to complain about..the rooms were beautiful; the hosts were very accommodating; and breakfast was very satisfying.
All of it! The welcome on arrival was very good considering the outside weather was very WET...shown to my room straight away to dry off and book in after confirming my arrival in Eastbourne an hour earlier, from the Cornfield Garage near the station. Good food & cheap beers. Check out the Crown & Anchor on the sea-front for good value food/beers & tv sport. Thankyou Vivien & Mario for a great stay over. X
Nothing to dislike!
Bed and breakfast with great charm and character just opposite seafront. We were offered tea and cakes on arrival in front terrace and treated to delicious cooked breakfast in lovely dining room. Was shown several guest rooms decorated and fitted to highest standard. Thank you Mario and Vivien for a delightful stay!
There was nothing to dislike. This excellent guest house sets the standard.
Wonderful personal service Once you've stayed here it defiantly goes into the " must return again" book.
The weather. But it's hard to stop,if Mario could have he'd have made the sun shine
Amazing hospitality and lovely hosts!
After a quick bit of internet research we booked the Coast guesthouse, and it lived up to all our expectations. Our journey having taken us less time than expected, we were allowed to check in early, and had our chocolate cake. The rooms were clean, comfortable and well appointed - I was able to borrow a hairdryer as I had forgotten to bring one. The breakfasts were excellent, including fresh fruit salad and very tasty scrambled egg. Perfectly placed for a walk along the sea front either to the marina in one direction or the pier and city centre in the other.
The owners were fantastic. As soon as we arrived they made us a pot of tea and gave us someone wonderful homemade cake. They were friendly and very helpful. They gave us ideas for restaurants and offered vouchers to discount at some. The guest house was lovely. I stayed with my 12 year old daughter in a twin room. It was comfortable and extremely clean. My daughter loved it. We had a lovely breakfast in the morning that they, helpfully, made early for us. I would definitely stay there again.
I liked everything about it. The only comment we had, which wasn't an issue, was the bathroom was a little colder than the room.
