Late booking offer for a Sunday night, including breakfast, was excellent. Very comfortable room. Cheerful, helpful staff. Food was wonderful; the Eggs Benedict the best we had in a very long time, were worth a visit on thier own
When we arrived we were informed that there was no food available after 4pm - quickly sorted and in the event the food proved to be excellent. Bathroom plumbing was idiosyncratic but charming and manageable
Beautiful .superior room' and huge bathroom with period fittings. Food was great, really pleasant staff.
Water pressure in main shower was almost non-existent but there was a hand held shower to use over the bath which was fine.
Friendliness of staff Size, amenities and comfort of Room 2- especially having space to work on my laptop other than on the bed! Wonderful quality of food and dining experience Good value for money
Room a little cold as one radiator did not work
The hole experience
Lovely old building full of charicter tucked away among trees. Lovely rooms and decor and excellent friendly, helpful staff. Breakfast was very good too.
Bed and pillows very hard, curtains didn't meet so bright light shining through all night. Noisy staff chatting under window that needed to be open as room too hot. Couldn't turn radiator down. Friends room had no kettle, when we asked at reception they said they had kettle issues and could give them a flask.
Pleasant staff, rooms, breakfast room (very good breakfast) and gardens. Just the job. Location is out in the sticks which suited us beautifully.
The beautiful bedroom. , with lovely chandelier. The warm bathroom with underfloor heating .
I wanted to take the bed & quilt home with me soooo comfy.. The veiw from room was lovely & it was peaceful. staff are lovely, the breakfast was top quality. Will definetly stay here again and have already recommended it to friends.
Food excellent. Breakfast pastries especially delicious.
Water temperature of shower very variable. Cold, then very hot for a short while, then cold again. Room far too hot for us and we were unable to make the remote control thermostat work so slept with door open!
The room was clean and the ensuite ok with a nice shower. The evening meal was lovely and choice of breakfast options good.
The ensuite was starting to look a bit tatty with knobs missing off the taps and such like. The evening menu was v limited, only 5 options, and evening drinks v expensive. The was no full length mirror in bedroom and no toilet brush in the bathroom. The milk for breakfast was sour and out of date but the choice of breakfast was good.
We liked the whole break it was a lovely rest. We only travelled 30 mins but we could have been anywhere. Will definitely return.
Lovely big room, friendly staff, good breakfast
Starting to look slightly run down, tired decor. The evening meal was nowhere near the standard of last time we visited (5 years ago)
The staff were extremely efficient and friendly at all times during my stay. The room was very comfortable and excellent for the price. An abundance of fresh, towels and a good stock of tea, coffee and milk on the table too. The food I had was superb in every way, especially the chicken with peppercorn sauce, with the vegetables cooked to that of a Michelin 5 star restaurant I thought. Also I liked the fact that at this particular time, it was quiet and I felt like I very much had the place to myself; just what was needed. Again, the breakfast in the morning was possibly one of the best breakfast's I've encountered during a hotel visit, with 3 rashers of bacon and even black pudding, plus a generous supply of toast and tea! Well done to the young lady serving, who was considerably polite and courteous. Also the young chap who was working on the day I arrived was extremely helpful and courteous throughout and nothing was too much bother for him - very professional. Lastly checking both in and out was easy and more importantly a no fuss process. Superb in every way!!! I'll be back
If anything I found the building too hot at times and had to resort to sleeping with my window wide open, therefore feeling guilty at wasting the heat. Sadly I couldn't phathom out how to turn the radiator down. The bathroom in my my room needed its window re-painting in places, plus I was conscious of the fact when showering I couldn't prevent the water from covering the window sill etc. This concerned me as I'm sure the water must be leaking down the side of the bath somewhere. Also as a result of this, the spare toilet roll had been left in such a position that it became sodden with water and would have been of no future use at all. The material covering the bathroom inner window needs replacing or washing and I felt it a shame the bathroom lights didn't work independently of each other so as to allow a more dim lit effect rather than the full glare of spotlights and side lights. Other than these factors, most enjoyable and restful; stay I've had in a long time.
Lovely stylish room and a beautiful setting. Breakfast was good.
Breakfast service could be a little more attentive but just a suggestion nit a complaint
Excellent greeting from Millie on arrival - very professional and friendly, made us feel at home. Room facilities were what you'd expect for the money, stylishly decorated (we had 1 of the 3 premium rooms) The Breakfast was excellent - excellent ingredients and very well cooked. Thank you to the chef! Lots of parking Value for Money.
The bathroom in our room (Room 2) could do with an update. It's looking a bit tired Could have supplied some water in the room included in the room rate.
The 2 young staff who were working the night we stayed (Thurs 6th Nov) - they were excellent and are a credit to a place that deserves little credit.
Claims to be a 4* 'country house'. Rooms were cold and shabby. View from our first room was a skip! Heating didn't work. No kettle in second room. Poor décor and light bulbs that don't work and raw plugs everywhere! Food was average - lots of 'Chefy' touches that didn't work - blackberries with fillet steak?? We were charged £4.75 for 4 extra crackers with the cheese! Person who checked us out didn't seem to care that we were disappointed - we won't be back!!
Food is outstanding beautiful building - good décor throughout external rooms are lovely
stayed in a deluxe double with bath - carpet badly stained, poor wifi reception in room. Bathroom with Jacuzzi bath:: bath filthy - other peoples 'hair' in bath on arrival and the Jacuzzi jets were dirty - could lift the dirt off with tissue so there was no way you would actually have a bath! grouting around bath dirty - not pleasant at all.
Food was excellent.
One too many tables in the restaurant.
The food was very good
everything was perfect recommend this hotel to anyone.Great breakfast
Lovely comfortable bed just sank into deep sleep
Lack of leaflets about local activities
Gorgeous decor and food
Really nice and quiet but still easy to get out and about
there was no hot water for a shower on the morning of our departure
Excellent room and service. Fantastic breakfast. Perfect weekend getaway.
