Location Beautiful building
Heating didn't work Jacuzzi didn't work Toilet seat broken Dirty sheets Poor cleanliness Cobwebs everywhere Poor wifi reception Poor tv reception Noisy wedding party Breakfast not ready til 8.45
Brilliant location just off the beaten track, easily accessible and plenty to do in the surrounding areas. The rooms were large comfortable and loved the design of our room (oval room). The large garden lawn was a perfect spot for our picnic. Brilliant service and would highly recommend.
The setting was enchanting fully recommend it
It is a small hotel with not many bedrooms all of which are different so it is very much like staying in a country house
Haven't stayed there for 4 years and everything was a bit 'tired'. However I was told that it is soon to have a complete makeover which should take it back to the place I used to love.
The intimate nature of the hotel with friendly staff and an informal atmosphere. The evening meal was of a very high standard indeed.
We were treated like royalty during our stay by the staff. The food was wonderful and the room beautiful.
Four poster bed
Location Gardens One of the starters at dinner Leaving
Untrained staff, struggling A "leak"from the ceiling, so a bucket stayed in the middle of our room for the duration. There was in fact no leak. Stained furnishings Loud chat from staff outside our door from 6.15 a.m. No staff to prep breakfast initially Initial request for afternoon tea on patio - response:"haven't you got tea facilities in your room?" Smell of drains on patio area Security almost non existent (in room 5) - impossible to secure room properly. Undercharged by £70 through poor communication between staff. We pointed it out. Being pushed through dinner too quickly. Duck undercooked so tough.
The location and ambiance of the hotel. Staff were excellent.
No glasses in the bedroom, shower in room 10 very dated
At this price I would have expected hot water In the shower..... At best it was tepid and mostly cold in room 7.
Good food and good room
At around 6pm while i was laid on the bed,the manager let himself into my room without knocking and then asked me if everything was ok,which it was till he came in !!
The food was excellent and good value for money. The bedroom was large, comfortable and had the added bonus of a fridge which we had not expected. We had asked for a quiet room and although there was a function at the hotel we were not distubed. We would be happy to stay again.
Staff seemed a bit inexperienced and although very polite had to be reminded to bring items which had been ordered. Hotel theme seemed to be an eclectic mix but was a bit shabby rather than chic.
Peaceful ,Comfortable courteous staff
Lack of a lounge
Very peaceful setting. Room pleasant with nice garden view and comfortable. Food good and well presented. Staff very friendly.
Although the staff were friendly enough we felt there was a lack of awareness and professionalism. Hotel has been sold and changes hands shortly so that may be a reason. Bar area too small and uninviting.
The whole experience, comfy large room, comfy large bed, excellent food had a wonderful nights stay.
A lovely counter manner with a lovely rooms and en suite. There was great signage and easy to find. We would stay there again.
I booked the Blue room 5 weeks before trvelling but was given an alternative room on arrival.
Beautiful place, fantastic food all in all a great alternative to the chains
Wifi very hit and miss, both in room and public areas
The bar had no archers or pimms, and this on a weekend, and then we could hear the staff arguing about it on the other side of the door, we could see the duty manager hovering behind the door in the mirrors all through dinner. The bed sheets were stained with what looked like boot polish, and when it came to checking out we had to ring the reception bell three times to get any response. All in all very disappointed.
We only stayed one night whilst visiting family Bu would definitely return to sample evening meals as breakfast was very good. Beds were very comfortable. And location fan, not too far from city but in the country.
Reception was a little awkward, and person in charge seemed confused initially about our booking. All good in the end but we had to stand around in doorway whilst big sorted.
My toast never arrived at breakfast !
Beautiful rooms, excellent food, staff were great (when they were around).
Wifi was woeful and no mobile coverage in the room
The room was lovely and the breakfast was awesome. Very welcoming staff and beautiful surroundings
Location and setting were very nice.
Evening meal poor, desert of Bakewell Tart was rock hard so sent back and had the Apple Crumble and that was cold. Breakfast was over-cooked and cold.
