The jolly atmosphere in the bar and dining room Lovely warm well heated room Nice decor Decent pub food and breakfast Cleanliness
A bit noisy with deliveries in the morning, but then it is a pub stay. Food service a little slow
Staff very friendly, food good, location ideal. Being located in house across the road, that meant quieter position, which we requested.
Dinning room, hadn't been cleaned, after obviously having Xmas parties held in room. Lack of towels for two people, had to ask more than once for extras, only minor point.
Location perfect as we were attending a Wedding at Shuslake about 5mins away.
Party was going on until 1am which created a lot of noise.
Great discounted price. Stylish decor.
Hallways & passages smelt strongly of damp. Maid woke us at 9 am on Sunday morning by banging on door!!
Room 12 was clean and warm and far enough away (second floor) from the noise of the bar. Evening was good and value for money
The breakfast on Sunday morning was awful ! English breakfast was not cooked properly and I also heard another guest complain when they were checking out. I was told by a relative that the the hotel does not have a proper chef for Sunday mornings and this was clearly the case
Close proximity to NEC
Young chap on reception and serving breakfast totally uninterested and boarderline unhelpful. Loud music heard in rooms.
We stayed in Coleshill to attend an event at the NEC and we were practically on the doorstep which was good. The room was beautifully decorated and the bed seriously comfortable, if not extremely squeaky, turning over was enough to wake my husband. The Shower was AMAZING and spotlessly clean as was the room in general. The breakfast was adequate with quite a vast choice, but waiting for it to be freshly cooked actually took some time.
This is a noisy hotel, Yes we did go in December, and in fact joined in to the celebrations after returning from our concert and thoroughly enjoyed, but the following evening, Saturday night, the party noise until 1am was very loud and we were on the second floor. The road noise is also quite loud from inside the room. My main problem though, partly my own fault, I left an item of clothing behind by accident and after several phone calls cannot get an explanation on even if they still have it let alone ways of getting it returned to me. I have had promises of return phone calls which unfortunately don't materialise. I will be more careful in future!!!
The location and town
The heating was turned off in the room and it took forever for the rooms to heat up. There was only one real ale on offer. No open fires as advertised.
Location, friendliness, rooms were superb.
Service at breakfast was poor. Had to ask for toast 3 times and when it finally came, we'd finished our breakfasts and also asked for tea and coffee twice. very disappointing considering how well everything else was done.
Food, Size of room, decor overall was really well presented, great food.
Shower was not very powerful and would have liked the water to be hotter.
The music playing till 1 in the morning below our room
Cold shower both in the evening and in the morning, room had a significant amount of dust on the walls, I've never seem dust on walls before, ordered a starter and main course and the starter did not turn up, very poor in what could be potentially a good B&B.
close to NEC
very noisy room, if you need to sleep, dont chose here!
everything, this is one of the best hotels I have stayed in.
there is nothing to dislike
On arrival receptionist very helpful and polite. The room was very clean, comfortable and furnished to a high standard.
The general friendly feel of the place, the helpful staff, tastefully appointed rooms, close proximity to the NEC, good location in the town and free on-site parking. A real treat especially for the bargain rate for a Sunday night stay. We'll visit there again.
Needed a one night stay near NEC but didn't want to be in Birmingham. Coleshill turned out to be a picturesque little town. The hotel was friendly,we had a very comfortable room, a good breakfast with lots of choices and it was amazing value!
Nothing to not like!
Staff friendly and polite.
Hot water and heating not up to standard. Shower temp was too low even on full heat. Room barely warm enough.
Pleased with room
Dining staff very slow waited half an hour and wasn't busy then they lost my breakfast order
Location was ideal, as was free parking, warm welcome when checking in and the room was spacious and comfortable (if a little dated!)
Breakfast was terrible. Took 20 minutes for a waitress to take our order (I had to go and get her) then when my partners Eggs Benedict arrived the hollandaise sauce was split. The waitress took it back into the kitchen to a reception of shouting and swearing from the chef (which we could hear as clear as day from the dining room). My girlfriend changed her order to the English Breakfast to which the bacon was so salty is was practically inedible. On check-out I explained all of this to the young gentleman on the desk to which his response was "Oh, right, ok!". Not the apology or explanation I was expecting. I have emailed the hotel and they offered a refund for the cost of the breakfast... But still no real apology or explanation for this frankly dismal experience.
- Room spacious and well appointed. -Hotel well positioned for NEC Birmingham. - Very reasonably priced.
- Lack of basic knowledge with the front line staff.which as a visitor makes a big difference. Sam was friendly enough when booking in, but told us breakfast was at 8am, we asked if it could be earlier- he stated no as that was when it was scheduled. When we checked out at 7.45 next morning it was apparent breakfast had been served since 7am which we had as a result missed. We asked how long travelwise it would take a taxi to get to the metropole by the NEC - which he could not answer though it turned out to be only 4 miles away! We requested a taxi for 7.45pm and finally after 4 attempts by Sam we got one at 7.15. Clearly he was willingly and polite- but, not sufficiently equipped to deliver basic services.
The comfiest hotel bed ever. Recently refurbished rooms so very clean . Staff really helpful and pleasant. Very convenient for NEC.
The service at breakfast was not impressive. Long waits for everything, had to ask for everything then wait ages. When it came it was delicious
As always great staff and fantasic value Doug Hunter
