The rooms at the Columba have a bathroom with a shower, a bath and a hairdryer. Many rooms have sea views and others look out over the wooded hillside. Alba Restaurant serves traditional Scottish dishes, and a full Scottish breakfast is served every morning. The hotel's Harbor Bar and Harbor Lights Bar are also open to all guests. Excellent staff. I booked a room with a sea View and was allocated one with a view of of a bit of the beach and the main road along the front of Oban, as far as I was concerned this was not a sea view. When I complained I was told in the hotels opinion this was a "sea view". However the excellent lady at the reception moved us to another room with a proper sea view. Top marks for customer care. I would only stay in the Columba again if I was sure I would be allocated the same room or one with a similar view.

Our 2 night stay at the Columba was perfect. The staff were very helpful and the breakfast was excellent. Comfortable rooms and we had an awesome view of life in the beautiful harbour and beyond. The reception area and hotel lift are rather inadequate and do not do the rest of the hotel justice. Parking is not great but if you are willing to pay it is fine.

It was next to the sea and near shops. There was only lukewarm water available in the middle of winter and the staff didn't feel the need to apologise about this or try to rectify the problem. The lift in the hotel didn't work.

I liked everything about the Columba Hotel. All the staff were so friendly and helpful, especially the Receptionists, and nothing was too much of a bother to them. The hotel itself has been decorated to a high standard and en suite room was lovely with high ceilings and beautiful decor and the room rate price was marvellous too (which included a full Scottish breakfast too - which set me up for the day!). I do not have any complaint about the hotel, as I could not fault it in any way and would definitely stay there again when I visit Oban and recommend any of my family or friends to stay there too, as I had a memorable 5-day stay there!

I have stayed at the Columba around 5/6 times in the last year for various reasons. Just one night stays. The staff are always friendly and helpful with a good varied breakfast buffet. The hotel is clean and most rooms have been refurbished. The location in the middle of the town is perfect whilst also being quiet as it is over looking the harbour. I have stayed in more expensive Oban hotels that where no better than this. This hotel is not five star but neither is the price.

Wanting to be near to the Oban ferry terminal, I selected the Columba Hotel for its location, 5 minutes walk from the ferry and train, but also because it is right on the water's edge. While the building itself looks quite old, once inside the atmosphere was immediately warm, and the staff were exceedingly helpful. My room overlooked the ocean (well actually, it overlooked the car park, but the sea was immediately behind that!), and had panorama windows in both the main room and the bathroom. It was comfortable and warm, which was appreciated given the terrible weather I encountered during my stay. The hotel has its own bars and restaurant, and the prices and selections were quite reasonable. Would I stay here again? Definitely! Possibly the only negative thing to be aware of is that there are only limited parking bars available for hotel residents and are used in a first in basis. If you have a car and miss out on a bay, then you will have to pay to park in the adjacent council car park.

The location of the Hotel is excellent, being right on the edge of the harbour. The quality of the public areas, especially the bar area is very poor, and badly in need of refurbishment.

Got a really friendly welcome and all staff were very friendly x Only thing was my husband and I have stayed at columba before and everything always been amazing but this time I think we had the smallest room,(room 211) when we arrived there was a towel in the bath folded at the drain asthe shower dripped the whole time, which was enoying during the night, and only dripping water came from hot water tap in sink in the toilet so this was a bit of a let down,

I liked the efficient and polite staff - arrival and departure were quick and easy. Servers at breakfast were friendly. It's a wonderful old building with some quirky bits - I have stayed here a few times before and can see that it is continually being upgraded.

The Columba was close to the venue we were attending so it was ideal for that. Views of the harbour were excellent. It is close to the Scottish Episcopal Cathedral and the shops. The lift was broken and although they promised it would be ready the next day, it never was repaired. Rooms on the 1st floor were not available and as I have asthma this was an inconvenience. They did offer to move me on the last day but there was no point then. The outside of the hotel is uncared for and we weren't told there was car parking for hotel guests and paid instead. My room was very cold (one small heater by the door) and the shower never got above lukewarm. No decaff tea available for breakfast. Not a good range of whisky in the bar (including no Oban whisky!)

The sea view was great. Staff gave us internet after we showed our reservation letter, ( although in the first place they say it wasn't free). it was a quiet and comfortable place to have a stay. Breakfast was nice with cooked food to order!
