We loved the Columba, a little careworn but so comfortable and clean, just how we like it. Stayed in room 305 which has amazing views. The staff were just wonderful, we were only booked for one night but stayed for two. Will be returning in the summer.
location good breakfast good staff friendly
beds need renewing sometimes warmer in the corridors than in the rooms tepid water on the top floor at night
The friendliness of the staff and their willingness to help.
Staff were great
Building work no lift working
An excellent hotel for a short stay. Staff very friendly and as we had stayed there before, the receptionist remembered us which was a nice touch. This hotel has been undergoing an internal upgrade over the last couple of years and is very clean and tidy. Excellent food in the restaurant. We will be returning.
Friendly, helpful staff. Clean, bright, well-decorated. Large seview room, comfortable bed. Plentiful hot water, good sized bathroom. Free wi-fi, received without any problem in our room. Breakfast was good, plentiful supply of cereals, fresh juices and pastries and bread for toast. Would definitely recommend and fully intend to stay here again.
No signs to indicate which corridor/directions the rooms are. No menu for cooked breakfast. Toast had to be put through the toaster 3 times to get toasted properly.
Nice room, comfy bed, clean. Powerful shower. Nice view to the sea
Room was cold even with the heater on. Was quiet dark in the room. Breakfast were not great.
Grubby staircase, and tempramental lift. Breakfast was very average and some of the crockery was not clean.
Town location and sea view room
Breakfast could have been available as cooked from 7am.
the columba hotel had a lovely honely feel about it and the staff were friendly and very helpful, the seaview room was lovely and well decorated,it was in the centre of things and we never got bored looking out at the panoramic views. The breakfast was good as were the evening meals. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel and will stay there on my next visit
the fact the lift didn't work when te doors were not closed on other floors. the seaview
Fair for an overnights stay.- - wouldn't want to stay much longer.
Shabby furnishing and decoration. Hole in duvet cover - could have done with new duvets and covers. Poor breakfast - toaster hopeless.
The sea view was wonderful, and the bathroom was large, clean and modern. The breakfast was very good and tasty with attentive, friendly staff. Very good value for money.
There was a large gap beneath the door which let a lot of light in the room at night. It was a struggle to get a parking space, but we managed in the end.
Location and staff very good.
The water in sink took ages to clear.
Friendly staff, free wifi, spacious comfortable room, quiet
Traditional décor, large rooms, good food, helpful staff. Near the sea and the shops.
Lift often malfunctions. Same is true of key-card to room 305.
the location and staff were very friendly, would visit again.
Wonderful breakfast with wonderful view. Even the rooms without seaview are quaint and look out over the very picturesque town. The lift is small, old but efficient. This hotel is old too, but kept very well. Helpful staff.
The lift is vintage and very efficient, but one should keep in mind that if it is your only option besides climbing stairs you should know that you will be waiting for it to get there now and again.
Location. Breakfast. Some staff helpful. Not expensive.
Bedroom lighting needed to be improved. Not given good directions to room on arrival. Generally dowdy impression. (Apologies for being somewhat negative.)
Central ,near station and ferry also pubs and distillery.
Cant find any fault with this place
Helpful staff, room and breakfast. I left my phone and only just arrived home, hotel got in touch and phone arrived in post 2 days later.
At first we were disappointed with our sea view ( half the harbour ). Offered a move but we decided it was no big deal. Car park could be bigger but again wouldn't put us off.
Easy access and location. Very obliging staff. Excellent twin room. Very modern ensuite. Sea view over the Oban harbou. Obvious efforts to modernise and improve facilities.
Small and old lift. Some stairs to lift.
Situated right on the front so could view the Island ferries coming in to dock from the bedroom window. Clean bedroom and large, modern bathroom. Friendly staff.
It's a Victorian hotel and some of the areas could have done with a bit of an upgrade. There is some renovation going on but didn't affect the overall enjoyment of the visit.
Restaurant/Bar attached. Walked into have a relaxing drink and an high pitched noise would go off for 5 secs every 5 secs. Staff seemed oblivious to it. Impossible to ignore so left.
Location great, bar prices were cheaper than the local wetherspoons, staff were faultless and breakfast and accommodation were spot on
The set menu was a bit poor ( the a la carte offerings were much better presented and more substantial )but for the price probably good value for money
Not enough parking bays for the hotel, if you don't get one you have to pay!!!
