Score from 319 reviews Good
The hotel is in an older building with atmosphere in a quiet but central part of town with good restaurants and walking distance to downtown, the Botanical Garden and Museum and Modern Art. They serve a nice breakfast and the staff is friendly and polite. The rooms have very homely with comfortable furniture
A bit to much dust because of heavy furniture
Very helpful staff
Excellent location. Good food in the pub.
Had to pump and play with the toilet to get to flush properly. Window painted shut, so poor ventilation.
Location was reasonable and nice view of Inverness Castle
Not good value for money. Rooms are old and hotel is tired looking. They use paint to cover up the smell of the "musty" carpet. Very average 3 star hotel "masquerading" as a 4 star.
Given a suite which was lovely. View out to river. Comfortable bed.
Breakfast had to wait. All tables dirty. Ran out of juices and they weren't replaced. Main lights in bedroom went off at 10 and didn't come back on.
Dirty Room in terrible condition Shower, TV , sockets not working
Location is fantastic. Looks great from the outside. Street level looks great. They are renovating parts of the hotel so some areas were not available for use, once they are finished it could be pretty cool.
For the price this hotel is not worth it. It could be my taste but the rooms we had felt tired. Bathrooms feel old fashioned, and to start with my room had no fresh air option or air con, just a fan. In both rooms of ours the toilets didn't flush correctly. The window was after request unlocked. Beds were mixed to ok quality, often the most important question in a room.
Duvets on beds far too hot n a warm night. Sheet should be supplied automatically.
Very historic, friendly staff, no trouble with the wifi, great location.
The only issue we had was our room faced a back ally and seagulls made noise off and on throughout the night.
Cleanliness - A1! Staff very friendly and obliging. 8oz steak to die for. Room service breakfast excellent
I am a very bad sleeper and had a room at the back of the hotel which seemed to be located over the kitchen area as there was an air vent/fan going all night so I didn't sleep well at all...nothing to do with the comfort of the room, bed was excellent
Good location. Okay clean.
Very old and not maintained. Toilet couldn't flush properly. Poor breakfast.
great location and convenient parking nearby
Location, we had a room overlooking the river and castle. Room was clean and staff friendly.
Decor and furniture were tired and need updating. We got a room only deal but still expensive for what one got. Breakfast is expensive as an extra and I recommend going over the bridge into town to So Coco (5 mins away) which serves good breakfasts for less. It's clean and service is good.
Was advertised as 4 star more like 3 star .In need of some upgrading
The hotel is superbly located for access to the Highland Games, Cathedral and the Theatre - and easy walking to main places in Inverness and the Bus Station. Entertainment at Saturday dinner was excellent.
The staff are polite but totally disorganised. In just a three night stay we got no papers (booked through their 'system' but order got lost). Could have whole £20 dinner or nothing. Paid for dinner extras at the table but no dinner appeared on bill. Bill had mystery amounts which were not explainable . Breakfast self-service but both bacon and sausage rather 'old' tasting. In shot - comfortable but chaotic and over-priced.
Bed was good
The window in the bathroom tight shut the bedroom window/door was lock with a padlock so no air and it was very hot outside . Breakfast was down at 8.30 eggs where cold but the rest where lovely. They could do with more staff when they have bus tour in
Room was fantastic, great view etc. Manager was efficient in sorting out problems.
Breakfast was middling to poor, but breakfast staff very helpful. A bit more customer service training for reception staff, albeit some were new.
Great location and view. Staff very nice.
Location and breakfast
Lack of welcome Requested twin room-daughter is 17 Reiterated when we arrived and still got double room. Gave up, we do not share our beds with our adult children at home and don't expect to when we're in a hotel. Overhead shower and no shower caps Complimentary toiletries poor, very basic
It's ok for a value of money
Bar staff was rather rude and impolite, breakfast quality was very poor for a 4 star
View over to castle
Floor/bed sloped uncomfortable
I was travelling with my mother and young son and the location was perfect.
One arrival I can only describe the receptionist as really rude and blunt. On arrival we asked asked the lady about breakfast and did they have a gluten free opinion, she went on to tell is that a lot of visitors take there own breakfast with them or we could order it the night before and the chef would run to the shop to collect it. Later that evening my mother went down to place her order and asked for gluten free bread and sausages. So the following morning we went down to the restaurant and was met by anybody until we were about to sit down when a member of staff asked us if we would like to move tables then we got moved into the corner of the restaurant. We told our waitress that we placed our order the previous night. She went to speak to he chef and came back and informed us that they were not able to get sausages anywhere in Inverness then carried on to ask us if we would like our bread toasted? Then she carried on to toast the bread in the same toaster as regular bread would be toasted. Throughout the morning ever other guest was offered tea, coffee and eggs. We were not offered any of these options. I have to say that £9.95 per person is a lot of money to be treated like this. It actually put me and my family off returning to the hotel.
