“Very friendly and helpful staff. Free wifi was excellent. The room was comfortable and has everything I needed and was excellent value for money. I would definitely stay here again. Also very close to Paddington station and Underground.”

On an elegant, tree-lined avenue, this bed and breakfast hotel is close to Hyde Park, the West End and Oxford Street. London Paddington Train Station is less than 1200 ft away. All of the tastefully decorated rooms have satellite TV, a telephone and tea/coffee facilities. Every room has a desk, and the beds have high quality orthopedic mattresses. A continental breakfast is available each morning at Columbus Hotel, served in the wooden-floored eating area. The hotel is on the south side of Sussex Gardens and has been tastefully converted. Nearby London Paddington Train Station offers the Heathrow Express train service. Wi-Fi is available for free, and there is some limited on-site parking for an additional fee. Parking is subject to availability, cannot be reserved and is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that due to the age of the building, the Columbus Hotel does not have an elevator. Hotel Rooms: 13 Most recent booking for this hotel was today at 09:20 from China.

I liked that it was close to Paddington Station, where I arrived on the Heathrow Express speed train after a 15 minute ride from Heathrow Airport. The street is beautiful- clean and lined with trees, and just a few minutes walk to breathtaking Hyde Park. Also pretty close to Oxford Street, but I didn't have time to go during my short stay. The room was very small, with just enough room for the three beds, a small wardrobe and small desk, but nicely appointed with updated wallpaper, crown moldings, and lots of blue, which I love. Tasteful and quaint decor. Window overlooked the street, which we enjoyed. Could hear cars passing by, but we likes that. Not too loud. Tiny bathroom. My daughter said it reminds her of an airplane bathroom. But clean and modern. One tiny bar of soap per person. Bring your own shampoo, shower cap and other toiletries. If you are very large, you might not fit into the restroom. Breakfast was just continental but very nice and plentiful. Attendant was nice and told us a good route to take a walk. Very large people probably won't be comfortable in the tiny restroom, if they fit inside. There is a step up into the bathroom, and back down to come out. If you can manage the stairs in the hallway, it should be fine. Do not bring large suitcases. There are many stairs. But I loved the quaint stairways. If you can't handle stairs, I don't recommend this hotel. Bathroom is well appointed, but sink is tiny and so is shower. Breakfast had only Cannes fruit, no fresh. But I do like canned peaches, so it was okay. If you need to check in after 10:30 P.M., you have to go across the street to a sister hotel and then return to Columbus with the key. Easy to do, but tiring after a long trip.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel was immaculately clean. The hotel was rather shabby with incredibly small prefab rv bathrooms inserted into the rooms. The pillows are pancake thin, and the mattresses were lumpy. The walls are also very thin. Guests in neighboring rooms kept us up all night. There is not enough breakfast room seating, so we were not always able to get a seat. The hotel does not offer the standard Full English Breakfast which in traditional in the UK. I was surprised to see the standard continental breakfast available. Hotels in London are outrageously expensive. I've paid the same price we paid for this hotel to stay in luxury hotels elsewhere. But the price for this hotel is low compared to other hotels in London. So I suppose you get what you pay for with this hotel. It's not bad. But it's not great either.

The location was excellent... Just walking distance to Paddington station. The room was very small. Steep stairs. There could be more variety of food for breakfast.

Convenient location and the staff is very helpful. Breakfast starts too late, after opening the reception at 8: Not suitable for early travellers. Rooms are very small: they are fine for a stop-over but probably not for a longer stay.

The room was warm, generally clean and comfortable. Good for a hotel in central London. Fresh towels and tea/coffee facilities daily too. Although the toilet/shower was compact we were expecting this and it was perfectly adequate for our needs. Breakfast was busy and a couple of times tables were not free but the staff telephoned us in our room when one was free and reserved this for us. There is no lift and I did sympathise with people on upper floors; the staff did offer to help me with my baggage so I presume he would have done the same for everyone. In short a great location being so close to Hyde Park/museums as well as eateries around Paddington. Only gripe was on arrival maintenance staff required entry to our room to mend chair/ attend to net curtains. I took this up with staff who said they had to grab the opportunity to get jobs done whilst maintenance chap was there. Fair enough!

It was higher than my expectations. Location was perfect. Stuff was helpful and kind. As a b&b hotel in London, breakfast should be served more like English sytle. If there would be bacon & eggs, it'd be perfect...

Very friendly, responsive and attentive staff, clean rooms. Our room was quite small (as we expected), however we managed to put a baby cot and still have a passage between it and the double bed. Also we found place to put two suitcases. The guy from the front desk assisted in arranging things in the room. Generally, if we need a budget stay, we will stay at this hotel again.

We were delighted with this hotel, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the location is superb - just a 10 minute walk from Marble Arch and a short walk to either Paddington or Lancaster Gate stations - the room was not huge, but perfectly adequate and the shower hot and powerful. You help yourself to breakfast, so can eat as much as you like (cereal, toast, fruit, ham, cheese, croissants and rolls. Fruit juice and tea/coffee). We would definitely recommend to others and will return here ourselves. Excellent value for money.

Good location. Very quiet neighborhood. Bathroom was incredibly small - barely enough room to sit on the toilet. Breakfast was served from 8 to 10, but when arriving at 9.20 there was almost nothing left and there was no refill.
