The Georgetown Restaurant. The waiters were excellent. The menu is quite extensive and the food was good. Do try the Singapore Gin Slings we had two! Breakfast was served in this restaurant and it was excellent and cooked to order. All the hotel staff were very nice. Our bedroom was a very large also the bathroom with walk in shower and large bath. Ladies powder room on ground floor definitely worth a look it's fabulous. The heating too hot in the bedroom bathroom and hallways. We lodged our large sash windows open with the waste paper bins otherwise it would have been unbearable. Bed wasn't very comfortable but nice bedding. Seating in the bar a bit like a waiting room but comfortable. Definitely a "function" hotel but to be fair it does say so on the web site and we were told when we booked in, we were lucky there was only a small murder mystery taking place which finished quite early and didn't bother us at all. I would have been a bit put out if the Champagne Bar had been closed to us because of a function (apparently this happens), in this event we would have taken our pre and after drinner drinks in the foyer. Good idea to check if there is a function taking place and if the Champagne Bar will be closed.

Nice big rooms, well decorated. This hotel is a wedding/event venue only. The hotel rooms are very much an after thought. Very noisy into the late night/early morning due to lots of people at the events - no double glazing to block out the sound. No air conditioning.

Excellent quiet space close to centre of Nottingham. Friendly staff and good quality food. Our rooms were in the roof space and rather cramped. Otherwise ok

Good position for what I wanted to do but fairly remote from anything else My room (in the attic) was very hot and no air conditioning. Breakfast very average, even had to make my own toast!

The night manager (Ian Wright) was so helpful and friendly. He provided an had an informative and excellent insight into the history of building. Asthetically it ticks all the right boxes, visually it has some beautiful rooms and the rear overlooks the lake which is also a nice aspect. I'd definately consider staying there again as I visit Nottingham on fairly regular basis. No real complaints, though the bedrooms and windows in the executive rooms are a little on the small side, and I'd be inclined to opt for a superior room in future, if the price was right.

Lovely room (apart from the heat), the building is spectacular from both the front and the rear. There's a lake to walk round and it is very close to Nottingham Race Course. There was a wedding there at the same time as us but it didn't effect us at all and they seemed to enjoy it. We were on the second floor and the room was unbearably hot even though it was not hot outside. We had the window wide open and two fans on all night. Might have eaten in the hotel but they only do chinese / Indian food

Very nice room although we paid for an upgrade. Good value dinner offer at the time of our stay. Lack of choice in the lounge bar re wine selection, only one cocktail on offer. Having to pay for a small tray of peanuts after spending around £30 on a round of drinks at the bar. No morning newspapers

That it is not part of a big modern chain. The character and history of the building. The food was very good and contrary to reviews I read the new menu includes several options for European food, you did not have to eat Malaysian. Very close to the River and ideal for walking, Riding and cycling. Room very well equipped with good furniture, large flat screen TV. There was even robes and a bottle of water. Despite being a very old listed building it was newly decorated and had good plumbing. Breakfast was extra so was more expensive than I expected. Coffe machine was broken and only alternative was tasteless filter. Most if the rooms are at the top of the building on the second floor, probably originally the servants quarters, and no lift. Stairs and room very hot, dinning room a bit cold.

I liked the peacful location and room sizes The room was rather hot, also there was no "do not distrub sign" available,as we got in very late in the morning and were asleep when the staff started knocking on the door from about 9:30am asking if we wanted the room doing

The historic building, with extremely helpful and friendly staff, made this hotel one I will definitely visit again, and recommend to friends. It was difficult to find, but this is the fault of poor signage in Nottingham itself.

Lovely room with traditional decor that is recent and of high quality. Lots of space and a beautiful bathroom. Service at breakfast was courteous and prompt. The continental breakfast was limited - opted for the english, which was fine.

Colwick Hall is an attractive building which has been well converted to a hotel. Staff are friendly and the atmosphere informal. Restaurant is some what unusual in serving malay, indian and chinese cuisine. Most rooms are large but this time we were given a room upgrade to one which could easily hold 3 beds and would be ideal for a family. Hotel is approched through a rather run down industrial area but its setting between Nottingham racecourse and the river Trent is good.

Excellent guest lounge and restaurant. Lovely big bathroom. Cosy but romantic feel. Feels as though you in a country house even though it is only 10 minutes from the city centre. As it is a listed building, there is no lift or air conditioning. The ac wasn't a massive issue as I stayed in November but I could imagine that in summer it would be quite stifling.

the best thing about this hotel was the comfort of my room and bathroom, but the main thing was the staff, they were above excellent; nothing was too much trouble for them. Particuarly the chap who delivered my room service no real complaints except my steak was very tough
