Very little. Room linen clean and in good order. Bathroom clean and tidy When I checked in they said my Booking.com reservation had been cancelled on 18 April, which was impossible as I was not in the uk at the time. They found me a room anyway. The rate was expensive at £104 for B&B. The hotel is very dated and tired, my room was not in particularly good condition with a damaged bedhead. The restaurant evening choices were extremely poor and of less than average quality. I would not recommend this hotel for a business traveller and will not be using it again. For the same money, I could have stayed in the Malmaison at Manchester Piccadilly and got a cab out in the morning to my meeting. The whole experience was completely mediocre!

Breakfast was outstanding, very good. Staff friendly. Dinner menu in restaurant was sparse and relatively expensive. Food was only reasonable. Dinner, bed and breakfast package would be good.

Comfortable bed and pillows; good shower / bath; adequate for 1 night. Very quiet. Free safe parking; easy to find. Couldn't get any bbc channels on tv; room looked in need of a lick of paint! The chair was really 'tatty' with all the fabric surface peeling off. Felt £71 was a lot with no breakfast included, when the room was fairly basic.

Value for money. Confortable. Central location, easy to navigate to/from. The staff were very courteous, welcoming and helpful. Good breakfast selection. The tv in the room did not work. There was a rip in the head board.

I bring my two toung sons up from London to the National Cycling Centre 3 or 4 times a year and each time we stay here. The rooms are large and clean, the food is great and the staff are easily the most helpful and friendly I have ever come across. Nothing

Great service. Very clean and tidy rooms well equipped. The room we stoped in seem to be about the xtractor fans for the hotel and there was a constant buzz all night quite annoying.

Rooms, location, price. No hot water for baths/showers both evening we stayed and morning we left. Told by staff when we checked out that there was a known fault, waiting for engineer to attend. Info would have been more useful when we checked in!

Service was good, staff were nice and kind. Bedroom was great, a very comfortable bed. Nice breakfast. Window open meant that car noises was very distracting from my sleep. No water bottle in the bedroom.

Floor 3 is smoking rooms, I'm unsure if this is even legal?! The rooms smell was disgusting. I neither requested nor wanted a smoking room. I am a smoker myself, and even I found the smell too much to handle. I left 45 mins after checking in.

The breakfast was plentiful and ranged from continental to full english, good value for money. The bath/shower was of a good quality, providing a quality showering experience rather than a hit and miss trickle affair of some hotels. The bath towels were thick, soft and generous in size, not the thin over starched towels of some hotels. The wifi in the room was sadly a miss, you could see it but not connect - maybe too many users for the router as it was fine the next morning.

We have stayed at many hotels both in the UK and around the world, but find the staff at this Holiday Inn to be easily the friendliest and most helpful that we ever encountered. The rooms are both exceptionally clean and well sized and the breakfasts are excellent. Add the fact that it is priced to be good value too and this hotel really is worth staying at when visiting Manchester. Nothing we could think of!
