Lovely breakfast room and super service
Bathroom was freezing! Edge of mattress was harsh and my partner scraped his leg on it!
The hotel had that sense of old fashioned granduer. The service was faultless. Breakfast was freshly cooked and served hot.
The matress was very springy, probably time for a replacement.
The hotel is situated in its own grounds with car parking space in the middle of a lovely victorian town, and is ideally placed for exploring the Elan Valley dams, and travelling the mountain road to Aberystwyth. The hotel staff were friendly, and the dinner and breakfast food was of good quality We would stay there again.
During dinner we saw that the menu had no starters so we ordered 2 bruschetta, which were listed as an extra, and cost about £1:60 each. We asked our waiter -Darren - for a carafe of house white wine, which he didn't seem to understand. During dinner we ordered 2 large glasses of white and 2 large glasses of red wine. The next day after I settled our bill I discovered that we had been charged £9:90 for the 2 bruschetta, and about £20:00 for the 4 glasses of wine. When I later 'phoned up and queried the price of the bruschetta, Darren said that when an extra is ordered as a starter the price goes up. However he made no mention of this when we ordered our dinner. I also felt that the price of the wine was a total rip off.
Staff on arrival very friendly and helpful. Room was very nice. Breakfast was very nice, could have done with a menu for options and choices.
Staff in the morning very under average, not helpful. Room cold, only 1 radiator working.
Toilet difficult to flush Bathroom door stuck when fully closed

My husband and I traveled with elderly parents on a nostalgic return visit to Llandod. The Commodore had available rooms so we booked despite having read and heard mixed reviews. We were allocated rooms 22 and 23 and I can't recommend them highly enough. They had obviously been renovated recently and were spotless and extremely comfortable. All the little extras such as toiletries and tea and coffee makings were excellent. Staff were very friendly and helpful. It's a shame more use isn't made of the comfortable bar area. Lovely fire in the main lounge which was very welcome on the days we stayed. Very good breakfast, middling to fair dinner.
The public areas, such as lift, stairs and lobbies were in desperate need of some tlc. Dining room is a little sparse and lacking atmosphere.
The room was a bit small. Window didn't open in the bathroom and there was no fan.
The log fire in the lounge area
The quality was very poor, cleanliness poor, breakfast disgusting, staff poor, management un-professional, overall not value for money, will not be staying there again
The staff were nice
We had a evening meal which was nice but we didn't like the staff preparing the tables for breakfast while eating, also Sunday morning we went down for breakfast at 10am to be told it had finished, the morning before breakfast was at any time but no one told us it was only up to 10am on Sundays.Very disappointed,Hotel looks very tired.
The bed The log fire
The bathroom Service
The ambience was good, the staffs helpful and made us feel relaxed. Thanks for our Jamaican breakfast.
Steps in the bathroom dangerous.
The food was very good.
Carpet around the toilet, not good even though it was new, it will get a bit smelly before long. Bad stain and smell on the carpet in our room, smelt like urine. Staff seemed to be a bit under pressure, too many "hats"
close to Builth Wells.
The beds were impossible to sleep in.Room not cleaned or bed made while we were out for the day.Booked table for dinner on first night and was told table ready 6-9. We sat in dining room at 6.30 to be told that we would not be served until 7.30 as a private party was there. The waiter even recomended another restuarant to eat. In the morning breakfast had been eaten by "the party" and the tables hadn,t been cleared, we had to ask for food, cutlery, tea, coffee.Made to feel a nuisance.Ate somewhere else that night. Was offered a £25 refund on the room after complaining.
Rooms were lovely Dolce Gusto coffee machines in rooms Friendly staff Good breakfast
Exterior was in need of decoration Very quiet, only 2 guests!
Double bed x 2
Poor staffing of bar. Private guests have to eat with coach party's at breakfast. Have to be at breakfast at coach party eating time or breakfast consists of leftovers. Housemaid left rooms unchanged on arrival. Bathroom plumbing never upgraded for yonks. Masserators in bathroom very noisey (sink / toilet/ bath all connected to one masserator. In short will not be reccommending this hotel to anyone only my very worst enermy'S.
Room decor modern and clean. Nice view. Good value. Plenty of parking space.
Reception and lift area need updating. Breakfast was eaten before we got Tea and toast. The pump action sanitary ware was very noisy.
Staff very attentive, nothing was a problem. Great shower!
Pets are welcome at this hotel.
Very handy location.
The building could do with a lick of paint. The breakfast was not hot, the food containers should have lids on to keep the food hot. Music very loud especially at 1am on Friday nights.
The reception staff especially Keely Location
Tired rooms, exterior and reception area Cracked bath. holes in Bath surround Damp patches Gas smell in lift and dining room Un-inviting carpark Insects in room
