Bathroom was not very clean ,broken ceiling , but what disgusted me the worst was the fire alarm that sounded very strong and they all came out of the room did not know was happening and was repeated shortly after it was repaired , I will never go back in this hotel
I liked just the bed

They were Broken floor tiles in bathroom very sharp on your feet and a power socket near the door coming away from wall. The room window catch fell off. They never topped up the drinks tray, but most of all the noise late at night people coming and going to bar and back to room swearing. Not for family's really only work men.
When we handed our keys in to come home

our room (no 1) over-bed lights didn't have bulbs in them and the young man on duty was unable to provide any, he did however supply us with a lamp for the table. One of the wardrobe doors was missing, and the dressing table condition was very poor being badly scratched.
The friendly smiling welcome from the owner

Doors were all internal doors rather than external looked very easy to break in to, lots of building work going on around hotel so will defo get better. Got in from a night out in Nottingham 430am woken up by what sounded like someone moving furniture in room above us about 7am lots of banging so sleeping was a no go. Can't fault staff they were brilliant ! Couldn't get the free wifi where was as someone stole the wifi extender a few months ago and as yet wasn't replaced. Could get 4g there though. Basic accommodation but ya get what you pay for , £7 roughly in a cab into town.
Very friendly and helpful staff.

No curtain on the window, (I used a towel and improvised)
Stayed there with work, on arrival I found out that other people where from my hometown southport, staff there are extreamly helpful and make you feel at home (felt like it considering there where other guests from my hometown) the breakfast was brilliant all you can eat with a good selection, myself and a work colleague stayed in a twin room which was spacious enough for us both. I would decently stay there again

Our toilet would flush once but then took ages to refill so it could be flushed again. Overall value for money
The owner was very friendly and helpfull
21 April 2015
Bed was not the most comfortable but it was bearable. No bedside table or wardrobe in my single room so stuff had to be kept on the floor. Not a problem for a short stay.
Good breakfast and friendly, helpful staff.

Location score is poor only because it wasn't close enough to where I was visiting
21 April 2015
The rooms we booked had been allocated to someone else, before we got there. So we got the next available ones. One of the rooms was not up to scratch, the both beds in the room were needing replaced I felt.
Friendly staff, good breakfast and very reasonable price.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming, my room and bathroom was clean, and the breakfast was lovely.

Our room was outside like a motel. We had net curtains only and had to put towels up so people couldn't see in. Nothing in the room but kettle and tv. Remote didn't work Milk was rotten in room No bin at all for rubbish No glass in bathroom Loud noise at night from plumbing system Lots of building work Room bowing thought it may fall No plugs near beds No hairdryer Very poor facilities Cold breakfast Cheep coffee

The b & b is currently being refurbished, so a bit of a mess outside (timbers, sawdust etc.) which can be expected. Our room was located outside, down an alleyway (motel style), so woke up during the night by a few noisy latecomers as I am a light sleeper.
We stayed at the Commodore last week. After reading quite a few bad reviews, we were pleasantly surprised. Our room was newly decorated, had new carpets, bed linen, towels, kettle, mugs and tv. The room was comfortable, warm and cosy. Full English breakfast was superb, eat as much as you want and lots of variety including herbal teas, fresh fruit, cereals and yogurts. The cook was clean in chef's attire, friendly and helpful. They also offer very reasonably priced evening meals and daily food package consisting of breakfast, lunch and dinner all for £10. Good customer service - If you forget any toiletries i.e. toothbrush, razor, deodorant, ladies sanitary ware, the Commodore will happily supply these free of charge. As a frequent traveller, I can honestly say this is the best value b & b I have ever stayed in.

Not the greatest hotel. The room was tidy enough, there were grubby handprints on the wall at the bed head, we found out later why, but we found hairs on one of our towels and the shower tray and plug hole were dirty. The toilet had been used and not flushed. The bed was terrible, the most uncomfortable I have ever had the displeasure to sleep in. There was no headboard which made for again a lot of discomfort, especially when my wife banged her head off the wall. The staff were, to me, polite enough, but seemed undertrained and unsure as to how to react to guest questions and requests. We didn't try the food, so can't comment. If you are just after somewhere to put your head down after a night out, it is probably ideal, but if you want comfort and quality, The Commodore probably isn't for you.
The location of the hotel was perfect.
