Score from 369 reviews Very good
good buffet breakfast
The room: wet patch beside the bed, the toilet cistern was cracked and didn't flush properly, the bathroom was in need of decorating. Also we were initially given the wrong key to the room door and needed a member of staff to "break in" before we could open the door - didn't fill us with a lot of confidence!
The breakfast was acceptable!
No light on the bathroom, no towels and better cause the shower was dirty.
made the best of a bad situation
the ceiling was basically falling down. there was a big hole where the shower upstairs leaked through and practically showered back down into our room. there were initially only two pillows for 3 beds. The shower in our room didnt work. We got moved to a different room the second night, which was better in all honesty. But overall would not recommend.
Breakfast was great.
We were transferred from the commodore hotel to the stage hotel. In the stage hotel the bathroom floor was filthily, shower was not working properly and the water not draining, the tap in the bathroom under extreme pressure. The tap only allowed for boiling hot water to come out. The bed mattress was broken as there was a very steep dip in it, the bed sheets on the mattress were stained, the duvet was stained with blood which is a health hazard, the windows were not able to close completely and making the room freezing during the night. The chair in the tiny room had burn holes in it. There was a gap between the mains and the wall which had a cable running threw it making it hazardous. The staff were rude and incapable of providing a decent service as after I went to talk to the lady at the desk the first time and came back after 30 min to ask again however, I found her laughing with her colleague who I greeted and he replied good night. The lady dismissed my presence completely and told the man to just give us another room which stank of mold and damp. It took the man then another 30 min to come up stairs and tend to the problem. He took 2 hours to completely change the bed covers and could not provide another duvet and offered us a single bed sheet to sleep under despite the fact it was freezing cold in that room. Eventually we slept under 2 bed sheets still freezing during the night. In the morning we went down to breakfast which was burnt to the crisp and cold at the same time. The next lady who was at the counter said that if we didn't like the room we should have just left considering everything began at approximately 12:30 pm. There was no free wifi connection at all.
Good breakfast, very friendly and pleasant owner.
Very poorly cleaned rooms. Curtains hanging off. Windows dirty and full of black mould. Parts of hotel being renovated which wasn't an issue but our room very grubby.
The staff where lovely and very friendly, they are also very flexible and help to fit your needs. The breakfast in the morning was also good and the service.
The bed sheets hadn't been changed from the the other people that stayed in it, and they were very dirty! And the toilet roll didn't have a holder. Beds were not the comfiest either
Booked a double but got a triple, very noisy, elderly mistress, no curtains, no waste bins, horrible decor.
It was just outside centre so able to get buses very easily
its the only closest location to where I was working
I booked for a family/triple room for two nights over the weekend, the room they gave me was unsafe because one portion of the ceiling is nearly collapsing and the only thing that holds the ceiling are masking tapes.. Masking tape/ packing tape outling the square tile of the ceiling... I asked the reception who showed me the room , he said its due to the fact that the when people uses the shower in the room above our room... It tends to leak hence the ceiling is nearly collapsing... I asked him whether there are any other rooms-- he said none as they are fully booked that night... Because I was already late for work... I left the matter to be settled by my husband. When I came back from work the following day, the manager has moved my daughter and my husband into a single en suite room with literally just a single bed... Single bed shared between my 9 year old daughter and my husband. I went down to the reception to sort the matters out... The manager in his kind voice said to me to wait and settle the matters later on as they were serving breakfast today and they were a bit busy.. Me thinking he has a kind heart understood the situation and left... By 12 mid day , they then moved us to a proper triple/ family room. The following day - check out day... I spoke to the general manager and told him that I am not happy to pay the price of a triple room on saturday and only ended up in a single room.... The general manager said to me that they are not a 5 star hotel as i expect them to be... I have explained that based on health and safety issues.. We should have not been accomodated on a ceiling thats nearly collapsing... He insisted again thay they are not 5 star hotel.. So what I pay is what I get even if it means the our health and safety risks. The general manager also told me that They actually lost a profit that night because I was given three rooms instead...
The staff were friendly and helpful. The full English breakfast was spot on.
Room was too hot. The bed was a bit lumpy.
Everything we needed and could ask for
Owner was nice and even tumble dried my top. Apart from that nothing.
Room was disgusting, massive holes in the ceiling. Rooms looks like something out of a 1950's film. Bed had the springs sticking into your back. Decor was minimum and dirty, no remote to TV! And the shower was hanging off!
Despite requesting a non smoking room, on entering the room it smelt of stale smoke. When I mentioned it To the owner I was told that workmen stayed there a lot and they smoke in the rooms. I requested a double room so I could have a larger bed. In the room was 1double bed and 2 singles. Unfortunately I ended up sleeping in one of the single beds as the springs had gone in the mattress on the double bed and it was too uncomfortable and the free internet was nonexistent in the room I was staying in.
Most friendly welcome and hospitality in the lounge with toast and coffee. Staff really helpful.
The whole place has character.value for money with no frilly bits.
Neighbours were a bit noisy at 6.30am,but nothing really annoying about the place.
You get what you pay for a nice little stop over as it is just been renovated
Need places to hang clothes up
Nothing apart from its location.
Everything especially its customer services! It is either you take anything or leave everything! What a shame of an hospitality business in the 21st century and in a developed world!
Booked his for my son and 4 friends. They said it was an excellent place to stay the breakfast was very good and they would stay again and recommend the hotel to others.
No negatives to mention
Room too small. no where to hang cloths. no shelf. to open to noise. walls to thin.People booking should be told rebuilding is going on. health and safty marking not present were there was danger for poor sighted people; those with limited awareness.
Not much at all.
No bathroom door not enuf power sockets no shower curtain in my room. My friends room the ceiling was leaking wall paper off the walls very cold in the room ceiling tiles missing overall not a good place to stay.
my room the staff the great breakfast
the tight squeeze between tables in the dining room. the microwave needs cleaning
I work over the internet via VPN and the internet service works perfect for my needs. The staff are all amazingly friendly and helpful. They truly strive to give the best service. Breakfast is buffet style and tastes great - eggs, hash browns, bacon, sausage, beans, cereal, toast and juice - all are refilled fresh constantly throughout the available times. Maid service comes daily and the towels are awesome. I originally booked 1 week and then decided to continue on for my duration in the UK... 90 day visa reset period for Germany. If/when I come back to the UK, I would stay here again. FYI: Room 14 is awesome :D
The UK has a smoking ban so the entire hotel is non smoking... guess it keeps the place smelling better too...
The owner very helpful and friendly. Good breakfast and comfy bed. Very good value for money would visit again !
Good to see management assisting staff.
Can not say there was particularly anything that we did not like.
