Wonderful location - quiet and peaceful but only a short distance from Aberystwyth. Relaxed atmosphere with friendly and welcoming staff.
I liked everything
Rooms were great, food was lovely
Showers were cold, which certainly woke us up!, I think there was a problem with the boiler, but then again isn't there always!
Staff exceptional , food excellent ,I enjoyed the whole package.
Comfortable room and informal arrangement to stay in beautiful setting.
We took up the option for a luxury double room which appeared to provide a bit more privacy, but we were made very aware that the partition walls were very thin when we could hear muted voices from the people staying in the next room. And despite being as quite as we could we did not like having the person next door knocking on the wall in an angry fashion late one night. May I advise that a little more sound proofing between rooms might be useful to save any conflict between your guests?
The comfort of the hotel, the evening meal and the friendliness of the staff.
The soft boiled eggs were over done.
Warm welcome on arrival -made to feel very welcome
clean bedding and bathroom. good food. staff friendly and engaging. We were meeting family and I needed to rest, the family stayed in the downstairs lounge and were not made to feel awkward and were offered drinks and biscuits even though you could see that staff were busy.
what a great place to get away for a break the welcome outstanding the staff friendly and nothing was to much trouble the food outstanding the new owners are wonderful hosts and will make the Conrah a superb hotel
Large room, good breakfast.
There was no indication when we booked that we would not be staying within the hotel - we had only previously stayed in the hotel itself, so had no idea until we checked in that they had an outbuilding and we were to be staying there. We had planned on a relaxing evening in our room but were unable to access the free Wi-Fi from the outbuilding (there was an occasional 3G signal on one end of the window ledge) and the TV did not work - it kept cutting out saying 'no signal' every few seconds so we couldn't watch TV. There should be a clear indication when making the booking if you are not going to be in the main hotel as had we known we would not have booked.
Really liked the house and the gardens, the staff were polite, efficient and friendly and the furnishings were stunning.
The beds were a major disappointment. Despite being on firm, unsprung bases the mattresses were way too soft. I had really awful sleeps both nights waking up every 30 mins or so. I slept in the chair in the end! Given the beautiful house and its charming furniture one should expect a certain standard of beds and bedding. The bedding was lovely it was just the mattress that let it down. I found the breakfast too 'fussy' for my taste. I respect that the chef has their own standards and that many people will enjoy the food but I found it too rich. I asked for scrambled eggs and I got them but couldn't taste the eggs for the seasoning and cream (?) As I say, personal tastes vary and I know you can't please everyone...
the location, food friendliness of the staff and the food were all top notch together with the stunning views. we had visited some 20 years ago and although the hotel is in different hands it was still giving the high standards that we received when last visiting (10 out of 10)
there is nothing to dislike with this hotel
My room was beautiful and spacious with a lovely view. Friendly staff.
Shame that there is no Welsh language on menus / welcome literature. Dining room was a bit drab.
everything,hotel.staff.rooms.food and new owners were all excellent
Stayed overnight at the Conrah in between two hectic days filled with meetings. Its gracious charm, cosiness, warm welcome and good food was exactly what I needed. The tranquillity and stunning views were a bonus. Will definitely be returning.
Nothing, it was exactly what I needed!
This is a traditional country hotel in a lovely location. Its an older building, so you can't expect it to be perfectly uniform like a travelodge, but it has bags of character and nice traditional features. My room was warm, clean and comfortable. The staff were pleasant, the breakfast was good, and it was good value for money.
Really friendly welcoming front of house staff, who couldn't be more helpful. Great breakfast. Lovely large, clean room. Comfortable lounge and bar area. Will we stay again definately.
Very nice large quiet room, comfy bed and great shower. Tasty Welsh breakfast with a fantastic view of garden.
Delightful staff Great views Warm and comfortable Good food
In need of a little investment
staff service location character of hotel esp in public areas bedroom 4 large and comfortable with views food mostly
decor in bedrooms and upstairs landings needs updating a few aspects of food not excellent
Quaint old fashioned large twin bedroom. Good breakfast.
Not enough staff on duty for check in mid-afternoon
Good value for money, friendly staff. We ate dinner in the hotel on 2nights and the food was good
Whilst good value for money, this hotels decor is a bit tired. The upstairs landing was rather shabby although there was a notice on the stairs saying it was going to be redecorated.
Perfect location for work in Aberystwyth
Sunday english breakfast poor and only one bedside table
Friendly atmosphere, excellent breakfast
Relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. Friendly staff. Good size bedroom, nice breakfast. Lovely views across the valley and beyond. Just very nice for a couple looking for a quiet break. Close to Aberystwyth for something slightly more lively.
