Sunday english breakfast poor and only one bedside table
Friendly atmosphere, excellent breakfast
Relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. Friendly staff. Good size bedroom, nice breakfast. Lovely views across the valley and beyond. Just very nice for a couple looking for a quiet break. Close to Aberystwyth for something slightly more lively.
Cold bathroom floor.
Good size of room, very cosy and warm looking. There is a sheep farm next to the hotel which thrills my 8-year old girl, she wanted to pet the sheeps! Breakfast buffet had good selection, and the staff also took order for warm food.
Not enough toiletries such as shampoo and showel get. We were only provided 1 set per room. Quite a distance for Aber town, would be a problem for those without own transport.
Good food, friendly staff. Superb location
Our one night stay at the Conrah was reasonably priced and included breakfast. The room itself was comfortable, reasonably well appointed and an appropriate temperature (in the past I have found many hotel rooms to be too hot and with no way of controlling the temperature!). The local beer in the bar was excellent. The staff were very friendly and generally efficient although there was a bit of a delay during breakfast for which they apologised but didn't explain.
The grouting and sealant in our bathroom is in need of a good clean or replacement. Some of the common parts of the hotel look very tired, some carpets are very worn, bits of wall paper are peeling at the edges. All cosmetic stuff but it takes the shine off what was otherwise a very pleasant stay.
The selection in resturant was not great if you did not eat meat. We were offered to order from the bar menu which helped.
My husband was looking forward to a cooked breakfast. They had no vegetarian sausage which is unusual. So ended up with one mushroom one egg and a small pot of baked beans. This really was not exceptable. The variety at breakfast was good other wise.
Lovely building, great views, really pleasant staff.
A very very long wait for breakfast which really delayed start of our day. Food was lovely, but didn't appreciate the delay!
Huge twin room with lovely views Helpfulness of the staff Decor Ensuite bathroom Breakfast Dinner
Views of countryside
Old fashioned, and tired in need of some attention. Complained about greasy marks on back of headboard.
Food Room View
STAFF WERE INFORMATIVE & HAPPY, SMILED ALOT NOTHING WAS TO MUCH TROUBLE.
The view of the sheep.
Overpriced, and too cold, look like a Hotel that's not loved.
Large room, comfy bed. Friendly and efficient staff. Good cooked breakfast.
Decor tired and bathroom in need of complete update. Limited selection of cold breakfast and fruit.
Good hotel, nice food
Loved the location, especially the view over the fields & mountains .Very near to Aberystwyth.Everything was brilliant especially the accommodation & food. Will return next year
The size of the bedroom Quality of the food Country View Good location for Aberystwyth & surrounding areas
Our room was on the top floor the shower lacked sufficient pressure, & confusing method of turning it on. Furniture old - not antique poor fitting draws etc.
The food was excellent, the staff where wonderful very friendly and helpful, we even got a free upgrade to a better room and it was a clean hotel but did remind me of staying in a stately home, but overall very nice.
The bed was quite hard so didn't have the best of sleeps. The ambience in the restraunt was awful, it was so quiet everyone was whispering so noone else could overhear the convesation, the background music could have been a little louder I guess.
2 of the Staff were very friendly and helpful, the others clearly wished they were else where. Beds were comfy.
The other half of the staff, and the breakfast (lack of ) selection! No fresh fruit and tasteless cooked meals.
Food was excellent Location beautiful and peaceful Main house had character
Being in an outbuilding away from the main house Cleaning of rooms could be better
Beautiful house and gardens Spacious rooms Good food Welcoming and helpful staff Delightful outlook Very comfortable hotel Even an exhibition by a local artist
There was nothing not to like.
Poor tv. Staff run off their feet multi tasking.
Staff, location, scenery
Comfortable bed, quiet.
I don't quite know where to start. When I stay in Aberystwyth I usually stay in the Gwesty Cymru (look it up - best hotel in Aber by a long mile!) however on this occasion they were fully booked so I had to look elsewhere. When we arrived we were not told when breakfast/checkout was (Something that only occurred to us after the 11pm closure time – so nobody to ask!) The girl just pointed to the stairs and said our rooms were upstairs. On the way to our room the walls showed the age of the decoration. The wallpaper was peeling off and the carpet on the stairs was threadbare!!! Not a great first impression. When we got to our room I was impressed with the size of the room and the view was great but that was pretty much where my satisfaction ended. The heat in the room was horrific and only one window of each set actually opened – the others were screwed shut. The curtains were sun bleached, the wallpaper was peeling, the wallpaper beneath the window was water damaged (I'm assuming that is from when the windows condensate). The valance on the bed wasn't big enough to cover the divan. The bathroom was awful, although it was clean - it was a deep pink/red colour - incredibly aged! The low water pressure made it hard work to have a shower. The wi-fi connection was terrible. For breakfast, I asked for bacon, sausage and beans... and that's what I got. 1 sausage, 1 rasher of bacon and a tiny pot of beans!!! All in all this hotel cost £90 and wasn't worth even half of the money. It is dated and old fashioned. I understand "country” hotels can be traditional but not like this. This one is in urgent need of some TLC! I won't be staying here again despite having family in Aberystwyth and visiting a few times a year - I'll be staying elsewhere.
