Score from 90 reviews Very good
Location , grounds, food
cleaniness in bathroom and room tired (needs a coat of paint). Reception more staff should be alocated at peak times waited over 15 mins to check in
The staff was quite helpful
The rooms was not what I though it's a lot below the standard
The room and food
The noise from a wedding was unreasonably loud preventing a decent sleep
Lovely hotel, nice period features, comfortable
No mobile phone reception in bedrooms
Fabulous surroundings .........the epitome of luxury!!
Impressive setting and rooms. Staff friendly.
Wifi wasn't great and there was no mobile signal - so great for getting away from it all I guess! Would have been nice to be able to get some cakes or tray bakes in the afternoon without having to have a full afternoon tea.
We're it was the old decore
The roam was dark the TV doors kept shutting so had 2 keep getting out of bed , no view from roam . Raw plugs in bathroom were their should of been some think their and to basic for the price .
Sumptuous decor, Historical setting, Comfort
Location Help at reception for room availabily
No minibar no bottled water
Peaceful, romantic, idyllic setting. Not enough time to enjoy all the place had to offer, unfortunately. I'll be back!
Rooms could do with a fresh lick of paint, or new paper. The beds need attention in regard to upholstery.
Location. Room comfort. Restaurant and bar food were great. Reasonable price.
Just about everything
No spa or swimming pool
The location food and staff were amazing at this lovely hotel. Can not wait to go back.
There was nothing I didnt like about this hotel.
Beautiful hotel in a lovely setting , lots of character features.
Everything was lovely
Location. good sized room and comfortable bed; good bathroom. Food in the bar was excellent. Standard of food overall was very good.Staff were friendly and helpful.Served breakfast on second morning was excellent.
Given no details of hotel when we arrived ie where restaurant etc., were. Lack of facilities , swimming pool etc ., would be a great advantage .Overall restaurant menu was very limited in choice and overpriced for what you got. Buffet breakfast was below standard, the hot breakfast was cold and greasy. This was caused by people leaving servers open.
Beautiful setting and facilities. Hotel is very special, lots of original features and little nooks and crannies to explore. Restaurant very nice, food good, hotel room really comfortable and beautifully decorated.
the history attached and wonderful carved woodwork throughout Lovely to have the park on the doorstep to wander around
As it was such an old building with dark woodwork and corridors the lighting could have been a little brighter In the en-suite there could have been more surfaces to put washing items on
The only down side was the menu for veggies not much choice or if there was wasn't offered any !!
We felt like we were in a Harry Potter movie. It was marvelous!
The building itself was amazing and the room a good size and very comfortable. The bath was huge and you could really relax in it. Food was excellent in the restaurant and had a really good selection of wines, although could be a little pricey. We went there to celebrate my husbands birthday and would certainly go back in spite of the few hickups.
I had asked specifically for a four poster room as it was a special occasion, but didn't get one so felt really disappointed with the room at first. My husband was happy with the room and it was his birthday treat, so we didn't complain. We had a problem with getting hot water on the first night but it was sorted fairly quickly. We weren't informed that you needed a code to get out of the car park so had to phone reception when going out for a few hours.
Staff were amazing , Banquet was a great experience , with fantastic food and a real fun evening , from reception , to the photographer ( Stephen ) to the delightful Waiter Andrew , and everyone in between . the building mysterious and enchanting and magnificent Gardens . Such a joy .
Every where you looked was a photograph to be taken, amazing features.
Unorganised breakfast area, was seated on someone else's table, teas and toast wasn't bought to us when requested.
Poor staffing. Nobody knew what they were doing! Huge queue at breakfast, not enough staff clearing tables. No tea, coffee or toast at breakfast Terrible lighting in rooms! Room not ready until 5pm so I wasn't able to get ready in time for the wedding I was attending. Horrible room decor. Old and dusty. Needed refurb. Really wanted to enjoy this stay but unfortunately I won't be returning, and have requested a full refund.
the bedroom was awesome, and the gardens were beautiful, lovely welcoming staff
could have had a bigger bar for residents that were not at wedding
