This charming pub and hotel offers a picturesque riverside setting. Situated by the Sowe River, the old mill hotel is a converted watermill whose origins stretch back to the Domesday Book.

service food staff friendly wonderful settings reindeer father christmas room settings would like the honeymoon suite next time
there was nothing to not like
The rooms are fabulous - it's like stepping back in time. The entire ambience of the abbey is historic. The gardens and the lake offer a view of tranquility from the room we were in.
Having to walk so far from the car park but realised later that there is a drop of point closer to the bridge.
Everything. Looking forward to going back in the spring
Rooms a bit tired
Beautiful atmospheric reception area
No way to turn off air conditioning
The building being old and well looked after has superb ambience. The room was unusual with it's corner bath, it had a lot of atmosphere. The fittings were very much in character with the building. There was no sense that anything modern had been added although obviously it had. The breakfast was lovely as was its conservatory setting. My visit, although only for one night, gave me added value as I have visited the park on quite a few occasions over the past 50 years or so. In fact I had not walked over the bridge since I was a child and my first colour photos were taken there.
The online booking could have been better, perhaps with room plans so that you could make your own selection. We were not aware that there were no ground floor rooms. The walk from the car loaded with our bags was difficult as my husband is registered disabled and I am recovering from major surgery. Perhaps a note saying we could off load by the bridge would have been helpful. My husband was disappointed he did not see a ghost !
Everything. The ambiance, the staff the food were all perfect.
Only thing I was a little uneasy with was the darkness of the room, but I know that is the nature of the building, and soon got used to it.
Furnishings, architecture and ambience is wonderful Staff were friendly and attentive Grounds and gardens were lovely, even in Winter
Room was a bit small, but satisfactory for one night Bar was a little limited in choice of aperitifs
The amazing setting, buildings and reception area.
Limited standard English breakfast (although fruit buffet was v good) - no variety/options appeared available. Slow service at dinner More focused on conferences / weddings rather than individuals.
Loves the hospital story of the place. Like stepping back into time. I didn't even mind the sounds made when you walk in your room. It added to the atmosphere of the place. The breakfast spread was divine and our hostess was very understanding.
Nothing.. Everything was great
We have stayed at Coombe Abby on a number of occasions, the latest visit we made there, was to celebrate our 1st year Anniversary, and we once again thoughly enjoyed it, the staff there do their best, to cater for you're every need,.& in general its just a very special place to be,,the food is very good too!
we liked everything ,the staff were helpful and friendly
Magnificent building ,interior furnishing creating a wonderful atmosphere .lovely special place to stay.
We loved the decor, the feel of the place was wonderfully old-fashioned and it was based in a very nice location. The room was spacious, with a lovely bathroom. Also, the food at dinner time was incredible, worthy of a Michelin star. Although it wasn't included in the rate.
For a big hotel, it didn't feel intimate because everyone was around the same places. Our Room was not available until 3pm and was a little late, so it wasn't until 4 that we actually managed to get in. Also, the staff at lunch time in the restaurant were quite poor, they did not seem to understand my dietary requirements and the service was slow. We were expecting the same level of quality from the breakfast and lunch that we did get from the dinner, but it felt like two different places.
Quirky , nice grounds. Excellent food.
Kept getting lost !
Room was cold
Staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Went out of their way to help us even though they were busy, with a light and positive manner. Every member of staff which must reflect good management. Huge comfortable rooms. Quite bizarre mix of decor, but somehow all comes together to combine quality with informal fun. Will revisit
Only criticism is the soaps etc in room. No conditioner or body lotion and other sundries, just basic body wash. Also some history on abbey would have been welcome
Everything pure class and luxury for a 50th birthday Such indulgence
The building and staff were fab very helpful :)
No breakfast and early checkout
Helpfulness of Staff Great venue Quality of food
Only 1 towel in double room
Ambience, attentiveness of staff, superb setting and rooms. Excellent food.
It would have been nice to have had a map of the hotel when we checked in as we struggled to find our room and as we had not been to the hotel before we didn't know what was where including the outside space.
Breakfast & dinner were excellent. Bathroom, bed and facilities in the room were also good quality with a nice old fashion feel.
A generator or aircon system (not a room aircon), came on each night and woke me several times (RM152). The general heating of the building seemed too hot, but it was mild outside for the time of year. Room was too hot on arrival and radiator too hot to touch, but easily rectified.
It was a lovely hotel, and the staff were extremely helpful, I will enjoy another visit in the future. Hopefully the weather will be kinder so we can enjoy the grounds.
Wonderful building full of interesting architecture and furniture pieces. Location is quite which is good for sleeping. Good buffet breakfast in the morning.
The restaurant in the evenings is poor. We waited 30 minutes for a member of staff to take a food and drink order. The white wine was served warm with the option of adding ICE!! We tried the bar menu on the second evening and waited 45 minutes for a burger and chips. Great facility, but there is a need for staff training.
