This charming pub and hotel offers a picturesque riverside setting. Situated by the Sowe River, the old mill hotel is a converted watermill whose origins stretch back to the Domesday Book.

Score from 132 reviews Very good
Beautiful setting and facilities. Hotel is very special, lots of original features and little nooks and crannies to explore. Restaurant very nice, food good, hotel room really comfortable and beautifully decorated.
the history attached and wonderful carved woodwork throughout Lovely to have the park on the doorstep to wander around
As it was such an old building with dark woodwork and corridors the lighting could have been a little brighter In the en-suite there could have been more surfaces to put washing items on
The only down side was the menu for veggies not much choice or if there was wasn't offered any !!
We felt like we were in a Harry Potter movie. It was marvelous!
The building itself was amazing and the room a good size and very comfortable. The bath was huge and you could really relax in it. Food was excellent in the restaurant and had a really good selection of wines, although could be a little pricey. We went there to celebrate my husbands birthday and would certainly go back in spite of the few hickups.
I had asked specifically for a four poster room as it was a special occasion, but didn't get one so felt really disappointed with the room at first. My husband was happy with the room and it was his birthday treat, so we didn't complain. We had a problem with getting hot water on the first night but it was sorted fairly quickly. We weren't informed that you needed a code to get out of the car park so had to phone reception when going out for a few hours.
Staff were amazing , Banquet was a great experience , with fantastic food and a real fun evening , from reception , to the photographer ( Stephen ) to the delightful Waiter Andrew , and everyone in between . the building mysterious and enchanting and magnificent Gardens . Such a joy .
the bedroom was awesome, and the gardens were beautiful, lovely welcoming staff
could have had a bigger bar for residents that were not at wedding
Had a lovely time food was very good and staff very helpful. Room was great felt like I was back in time
Nothing to say
We love the romantic setting of Coombe Abbey. The staff are very polite.
We were given a room in the new building. It was tastefully decorated and clean but not as nice as the rooms in the main building. We couldn't get out bedside lamps to work and the key cards to open our door had to be remade as they stopped working. This was a bit of an inconvenience as we had to trundle back outside and through to the main building to remedy this.
Stayed here for the start of our 25th wedding aniversary celebrations beautiful hotel steeped in history, it's not your normal hotel by any means very romantic and great for couples.
Large comfortable room with lovely view to the main courtyard. Incredible place with so many lovely rooms for functions etc. Very romantic setting for the wedding that we attended.
If I had to be picky I would say that the lighting to the common landings could be brighter
There atmospheric setting, dim moody lighting and tapestries. The restaurant was fabulous. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and the food was excellent.
There were a lot of weddings over the weekend and the music was loud and at odds with the atmosphere of the place. However the staff had placed us in the annexe so we were away from this once in our room.
The atmosphere of the hotel is quite unnerving , yet spectacular. It is a high quality hotel and this is visible all around. There are lovely little secluded areas to be found, and great hallways and different bars to explore. The food is excellent.
The lighting is very dim, atmospheric to the hotel but still a little too dim, especially in the rooms where you need better lighting to get ready and do your makeup. There could be a bit more going on downstairs/available to guests.
Location Interior design Food Fantastic gardens
The ambience, the attention to detail, for example a hot water bottle, Tea and Coffee making facilities, the staff calling us Sir and Madam, fantastic setting and a four poster Bath!
The subdued lighting was a problem to the older generation.
Room very dusty
Very comfortable with helpful and attentive staff. Great location next to the Park.
Dark rooms good for ambiance, not so good for shaving.
Rooms and decor, most things, food is ok
1-Uncomfortable chairs in eating area. 2-Lack of smiling staff faces at breakfast time.3-Step going into the bar area (despite signage Several people stumble at the step.4- smokers at main door entrance
The old English atmosphere and the beautiful grounds
Rooms were too hot
Staff were attentive and well informed
Food amazing duck main. Setting was brilliant and surroundings
Food was ok.... Bit pricey for some of the choices (and the use of frozen ingredients)
Lighting (poor), bath in the bedroom rather than in a separate room.
The garden area, the history of the house.
shabby decorations, light not working over bed.drawer handle missing,no coffee in room. Generely shabby inside hotel. high turnover of rooms! A feeling of well trodden visitors.
The scenery is amazing. Especially when the sun is blazing. The little nooks and crannies are ideal to park our Grannies. The lunch we enjoyed served by friendly staff. At times we enjoyed a very good laugh. X
