Copthorne Effingham Gatwick Hotel  

It was no hassle. I just wanted to get in and out without delay. Restaurant was just what i wanted with great staff.

Disappointed the pool wasn't open and very little atmosphere in the lounge/bar

Good location for country side and Lingfield Races

Not much character and lacked personal touch - mainly suited to large groups (ie. Business conferences & weddings)

The room had a distinct fusty smell about it. Decor needed attention. Noisy fan in bathroom. Bed comfortable. If not eating in restaurant, food very limited. Restaurant menu - nothing plain all too fuss especially if you arrived later in the day. We chose to have a menu from the bar, certain things they had run out of.

Rotten hotel way past its best needs updating.Staff were thick as the proverbial. Booked for a twin room, on arrival they said they didnt have any , had to share a double bed with same sex colleague, office still hasnt stopped talking about it! Absolute rubbish place

Location ideal for us

Breakfast was very poor...mainly the cold buffet.Regarding staff check in good,the guy at the bar and breakfast was ok, but we were shocked by the way Daniela spoke to one of her collegues during the check out...she was very rude and it was a not pleasent last inpression of the Hotel

Easy location and good standards of hospitality

The food isn't all that great, in terms of choice and is a little on the pricey side.

1)The gardens and golf course were very pleasant and relaxing 2)Daniella at reception when we came in was very pleasant and helpful

1)The bathroom was not properly cleaned when we got there. 2) the whole of interior wood finishings looked shabby and in need of work 3) I hade to go down to reception my self to book a wake up call and transport for the morning after calling 4 times with no answer 4) two of our party had to put our overnight bags on our laps even though I told the gentleman at reception that we had 4 big bags and 4 small bags to go to the airport. The " estate car" he ordered was a small station wagon

Booking information was wrong - we had booked for two nights and had confirmation but on arrival your records only indicated booking for one night, we booked breakfast for two mornings but on the second morning there was no record of the booking - this caused unnecessary embarrasement. The room decor was tired and in need of updating the bacon was greasy and hard and several rashers were stuck together we would have prefered tea and coffee to be served at breakfast rather than the use of thermos flasks for hot water we are sure that this could be a better hotel if decor was upgraded and that attention to detail was addressed - however at present we would not recomend
