I like the location and the cost. It provided easy access to the city centre (walking distance). The staff were helpful and friendly. It definitely isn't a 4-star hotel. Outside of the hotel lobby, the decor and furniture in the rooms are very dated. Hallways have the dated suspended ceilings which have clearly seen better days. Our room didn't even have a single picture on any of the walls. Face flannels (cloths) were not provided during our two-night stay. This is quite poor. No flat screen TV. All of the above are indications that this is more closely a 3 star than a 4 star hotel.

It was very quiet and friendly. The room was comfortable. There was only one pillow on the bed and it was too soft. There were no biscuits with the tea in the room. I was not advised of the a la carte menu in the restaurant when i went for meal. They got my reservation wrong on arrival.

Location. Very aged and in desperate need of update / refurb. Very poor value for money compared to others in area. If I knew the state of the venue I would not have booked here.

Stayed at this hotel several times so we know what to expect. Nice clean rooms - centre of Birmingham. We asked for a quiet room - we have stayed here before - we were assured the room we were allocated - room 419 - was one of the quietest. This room has an adjoining door to another room. All was well until 2.30am when the residents of that room came back from their night out. They weren't especially rowdy but we could here them - woke us up with a start!. So having requested a quiet room when booking with Booking.com and then being assured by the receptionist it was a quiet room - we were duped!! We were also woken up at 1am when revellers came back from a night out and again at 4.30am when a woman started knocking on a door nearby. These two incidents could have happened at any hotel so its not the sole problem at the Copthorne. On saying all this we are booked in again via Booking.com so it hasn't put us off, however if we experience this again, we will review our options when staying in Birmingham.
