Great Location and rooms were clean and comfortable. Reception area, Bar and Restaurant are all really modern Actual bedrooms are in need of redecorating as they are quite outdated or even just a fresh coat of paint. Showers are very old and bathroom suites looked like they haven't been replaced in about 25 yearsI have stayed at the Hyatt which is also a 4 star hotel and the rooms really do not compare.

Really helpful staff - everywhere: reception, diningroom Best breakfast we have had at a hotel of comparable price Bedroom fairly plain but had everything we wanted and was quiet The complaints below are only given to help - more importantly there was masses of hot water and the rooms were a good temperature without us having to fiddle with radiators or air conditioning. Opportunities for improvement: the bed and bedlinen could be improved but they were perfectly ok. The taps are suffering from hard water exposure so stiff but there was plenty of hot water.

Hair dryer did not work. Basin was blocked. No heating control in the room which does not come on until 7pm and then not very good. Basically don't stay there if it's going to be cold.

Location, size of room Wi-fi ought to be included these days. Most people in a hotel in the winter midweek are in business and will need it. As a woman I don't appreciate huge flat screens showing football in the communal area. I ate in the restaurant one night and had nasi Lemak which was horrible. Far too salty and dry. Perhaps it was meant to be. The breakfast was £8. Most women I know only eat light breakfasts. Men eat cooked breakfasts. Why should women supplement men's unhealtthy eating? There should be a cheaper lighter option. On one day they didn't replace my shower gel etc and I had to go down and ask for it. They had the slowest lift in the world. On my last evening my room card wouldn't work and I had to go up and down 3 times to sort it out even though I was desperate to go to bed.

The location The hotel was very dated and tired. I stayed at this hotel about 20 years ago and dont think it has even changed the wallpaper. The room was clean but looked shabby due to the decor. The bar and breakfast area were very dated and didnt make you feel comfortable. The car park was a dreadful state and i nearly tripped over the uneven surfaces. The breakfast left a lot of room for improvement.

Bar staff were very helpful and friendly A gentleman by the name Levi, he was absolutely the reason I would not choose to stay at the copthorne hotel again! He was quite rude, threatened to "kick me out" and was not friendly at all. He talked down to me, had no respect for us and unhelpful. He threatened to "kick us out" after we asked to see in writing that our friends couldn't join us at the 24 hour bar.

The uht milk in the room and lack of tea selection. You would think a four star hotel would have a better solution.

Chose this hotel for a trip to the christmas market in the city and on arrival found the location perfect. We had not booked a table in the restaurant in the evening but the staff were really helpful and offered to serve us at a table on the edge of the bar. We were well looked after and the food was excellent. The only thing that could be faulted was that the restaurant size far too small for the size of the hotel and really couldn't cope with the breakfast rush however I would add that the staff were very good and did an admirable job in the circumstances

We have stayed in this hotel before and find it very comfortable, there is good service and it is right in the heart of the city. Although the breakfast was excellent there was quite a queue for a table. Still it was a week end just before Christmas and the hotel was full.

I booked a room for 2 night for Dec 9th and 10th. The online form said we did not have to book a parking space, so we did not. When we arrived there were no parking spaces and was told to use the car park across the very busy main road. I returned the following morning and had received a £50 fine for over staying, even though I had paid the correct ammount for a 24 hour stay. The following night it happened again. the tickets that were issued from the machine did not allow for 24 hours. I have now go to appeal against this with Birmingham Council. We are very unhappy about having to park across a road which you could easily knock down(only lucky we were not old) The main reason we stayed at this Hotel was because of the car parking facility. This is the second time we have stayed, but because of the inability to park we will not be coming again. A GREAT PITY

The food and service in the Bugis Street restaurant was first class. We had breakfast and an evening meal there and would highly recommend this to anyone. We would definitely stay here again. The directions for reaching the hotel are not easy to follow. This may have been aggravated by the numbers of people around the german christmas market. One lift being out of service meant some delays hanging around the reception waiting for the remaining one to arrive.

A well positioned and impressive hotel. The welcome is warm, efficient and helpful. Access to room smooth and easy. Room warm, clean and good decor. The staff (reception, bar and breakfast.) were wonderful in every way. Well done. Checking out was simple and they very knidly looked after our luggage while we shopped. Thank you. An excellentteam and hotel. One thing really, the noise from the busy road below our room.
