Score from 1082 reviews Very good
The cleanliness and facilities of the hotel were excellent. The gym and spa were compact but had more than enough to keep a traveller occupied! Bed was extremely comfortable and the food was very tasty as well as having plenty of options reasonably priced. Highly recommended.
Was not told there was a code for the WiFi on arrival but I was soon connected with the help of a fellow guest.
Paying for wi fi
The staff were great, we said it was our wedding anniversary, later we received a bowl of fruit & chocolates with happy anniversary piped on it in chocolate what a lovely thought!!!
Nothing it was great
I liked the fact that it was just outside the city centre and that there was plenty of parking
the room was dated, there had been a hole in the bath room door, the paint on the doors and wood work had been chipped. I would not like to pay the full price of a hundred and fifty pounds a night to stay there
we love the Copthorne , the bedrooms are good , comfortable and clean staff are polite
Booked this for a Leisure break and unfortunately couldn't use the pool on the day of arrival ,would have been nice if we had been informed pre our arrival
This hotel was much better priced than its competitors even those further away from cardiff centre. No complaints, we would definitely stay again.
Good bar meals. Pleasant staff. Quiet and comfortable room.
Decor was a bit tired - could do with modernising.
Great staff good room great leisure facilities and good breakfast
Really annoying to be charged £5 a day for Wifi. It's free on the buses that roll past the nearby retail park. These days there's an expectation of free Wifi so this is counterproductive. The hotel is also quite a trek into Cardiff a £14 taxi ride or 20 mins by bus. The lakeside setting is also next to a giant retail park. Not quite what I expected
View from room of lake. surprise fruit for birthday. Particularly liked Cardiff.
Comfortable bed Quick and friendly service of bar snacks
Long way our of town Some confusion and delay with ordering cab Tatty, worn, furniture in bar.
Good choice of breakfast. Spacious room. Nicely decorated foyer. Good atmosphere. Warm hotel.
Limited choice of evening meals which were very overpriced and not value for money. I think £8.95 for a panini is disgusting. Soup, sandwiches, paninis, coffee, all way overpriced.
Pleasant rooms and spotlessly clean.
Bar meal took 40 min to arrive and then a further 20 min delay due to incorrect order by which time I had finished mine. Very noisy central heating which meant at midnight we were moved to another room which whilst a suite, our morning lie in to watch tv was not possible. At check out no one apologised, no one asked about our stay? Overall a very dissapointing stay which we had booked a month earlier specifically to have a nice break without kids
The staff were very friendly and polite.
lovely spacious and comfortable room with arm chairs and warm decor. Fridge and hospitality tray useful. Swimming pool, sauna/steam and gym use for all residents was welcome after conference. Lovely food.
Couldn't get through to room service after several attempts so gave up trying. Wifi was not free but £5 per day.
enjoyed the spa and pool
Comfortable and convenient.
Restaurant temperature too cold in the evening. Price of breakfast too much and no simple alternative. Walked across to Marks and Spencer for a simple breakfast.
Rooms were ok but bathroom was not so, toilet did not flush properly and the sink was slow to empty.
We used the leisure club facilities and we feel the changing rooms were dirty, staff not helpful and the pool area needs renovating. Evening meals were not of standard either.
noise from other rooms
Some of the staff spoke welsh and we're pretty helpful.
The room was cold waited over 2 hours for extra heating. The dust was evident around the whole hotel not just on pictures, carpet edging and the wood panelling.
hotel a bit down at heel cold in the conservatory
Very helpful staff. Lovely hot spa with fluffy bathrobes. Shuttle to rugby match but able to leave car in the car park. Excellent continental breakfast.
Would have liked spare blanket and loo brush.
Rubbish under bed. Paperwork from previous occupant. Uncomfortable bed. Food expensive and poor quality.
The comfort of the hotel.
Early closing bar, no free WiFi, waiter had never heard of port!
Free parking. Good breakfast. Speed of checkout. Efficiency of reception staff. Efficiency and friendliness of restaurant staff at breakfast.
