Location Room lay out
Poor quality food lack of choice Areas too small far too hot!!! everywhere
The variety of facilities The food The quiet
We paid on line and paid in advance and twice at beginning and end were told it had not been paid and had to sort it our ourselves It had been paid in husband's name nut even though told staff at desk failed to find it. Also find the almost totally Rumanian staff did not know anything much about the English environment where they were to point us in way of local places to visit.
Parking was good, Room was very good. Corner Bath was so very nice.
The layout of the reception means some customers are missed because they cannot be seen.
Staff were very friendly
The hotel is dated and needs updating, buffet food quality poor and paid £5 for wifi which was of a very poor quality and kept dropping.
Staff Comfort of room Price
Price at bar
Staff were very helpful. Good nights sleep - no outside noises to disturb
Bar food was just okay, could do with improvement
It's a hotel worth visiting. Its location is ideal for a quick get a way from Gatwick but also has a stay for a short break. The restaurant is good, but slightly expensive for what it offers. The staff is helpful.
Closeness to our airport car park, spacious room, comfortable bed.
Inadequate lighting in room. To read in bed, all 9 ceiling lights needed to be on. No unique bed lighting. The pub on site is apparently partly an original ancient inn. Shame it couldn't stock just one real ale instead of multiple overpriced lagers.
beautiful grounds nice size rooms. 15 mins from airport taxi cost 4.50 each
they left my car open and covered in mud. they run out of beer 3 times and food was cold very expensive and not value for money. we have stayed here 5 times now and have to say this time we were very disappointed this time. we have already paid for this hotel in full for next yr other wise we would stay somewhere else.
They didn't even charge us extra for our car being there for another 24 hours. Very peaceful for being so close to Gatwick. We upgraded to a larger room with free drinks etc on the day for only £20!
The spa facilities. Staff unhelpful. Pool closed when classes occurring which was frequently in the evenings.
Breakfast good. Room decent. Reception helpful.
We meet another family there for a good old catch up as they flew over from America. Service passed 11pm was very poor and they refused to even serve coffee saying the machine was switched off. We went to bed not spending a fortune which we have planned for.
It was quite even though it was near Gatwick. Very relaxing and not to busy and the location was good very near motorway. Free parking a bonus. Would stay again.
I booked online and breakfast was included the second morning I was told it was not included was not happy the way it was dealt with especially as breakfast was not five star only three but I had to go to reception as the manger at the restaurant rang and they told them it was not included not professional. Also on booking.com I was told we got executive room with extras they don't have only for airline staff.
Likec the location stayed both prior to holiday and on our return. staff really helpful although not allowed into room until 14, staff were able to book us in early, which was most welcome after 10.3 hour flight.
Transport arrangements back from gatwick, were a little muddled other hotels have bus transportation stands.
We first stayed at the Copthorn in 1990....recently, we returned to find the same comfortable ambience - only this time we required a handicapped services room, and had a lovely one. Thanks!
easy parking and checking in/out
the long walk to room 345 from recep. and no fridge in the room.
We stayed at this hotel as we were going to a wedding nearby. From the moment we entered the hotel we were treated really well. Booking in was easy, the room was comfortable and clean. We ate in the 'pub' on the first evening and the food was excellent. Bar staff were friendly in the pub bar and the hotel bar. When we got back from the wedding we were looking at the menu on the door of the restaurant which wasn't open and a member of staff was walking by and stopped to chat and offered to take our reservation. Subsequently when we did eat in the restaurant the food was superb and the service. No member of staff walked past us without acknowledging us with a friendly good morning/afternoon/evening. All the staff we encountered seemed approachable and eager to assist. An extremely very pleasant stay and we will go back.
Staff were friendly and curtious
Beds were incredibly firm and pillows were the worst I've ever come across.
Convenient location for Gatwick, we have used for holiday package incl car parking, and for Glyndebourne in summer.
Shower didn't work!(but reception promised to sort it!)
They continue to provide excellent service, visit after visit. I have been using Copthorne as my Gatwick gateway hotel for well over ten years and I am always impressed by the service. It is a lovely charming hotel away from the hustle of the airport, but close enough for quick access.
I am not overly keen on the distance of the car park from the main entrance and think that a designated "loading/unloading" area may be in order. Having a doorman to help with bags rather than asking for one at the front desk may also improve the experience, as some people may hesitate to ask.
Nice clean hotel, friendly helpful staff, rooms were up to date and comfortable
Pool not on site, food and drink bit pricey for what you get
The outdoor area was beautiful, we also spent nice evenings in the pubs and restaurant. Thank you for the lovely stay.
Excellent customer service and good standard of food at all meals. Wonderful grounds and landscaped gardens.
This hotel is like Marmite...... You,ll either love it or hate it..... If you are well travelled and like modern, contemporary and excitingly stylish hotels...you,ll hate this. Stuck in a 70,s Time Warp....the decor is tired, old and a mix of the very worst styles from 40 years ago. The playing of the Bee Gees song, ' Staying Alive ' at breakfast as background music totally sums up this outdated and in need of total refurbishment hotel. That said, it will I am sure, appeal to many tourists and people over the age of 50,who still like the ghastly 'retro decor ' of this English country hotel. This could be transformed into something really stunning and contemporary to bring it into the 21 century to match & promote the name of the hotel chain company, which oddly is......Millennium.....! ( Big mistake guys...) The management should all take a working holiday to any Scandinavian country and be inspired with 'creativity' by what they see there.....implementing some of the beautiful decor and interior designs of these hotels ...could.....transform this hotel into something quite outstandingly unique....as the grounds this hotel are set in,are stunning. Such a wasted opportunity. But I am sure in 10 years from now.....it will still be the same.... Go see for yourself. Credit where credit is due....the customer service and food were excellent but nowadays that is not enough in the hotel industry. Too many hotels like this in the UK....' conservative, dull and lost in a 70/80,s TimeWarp....
I booked two nights 9th & 10th Aug at Copthorne Gatwick on arrival I found they had put the booking in girl friends name fhis means it does not qualify for my loyalty club upgrade to gold tier The booking was made by me and paid by me with AMEX
location and ease of getting to Gatwick
Spacious rooms - nice pub food
