This former 19th-century schoolhouse has been converted into a comfortable hotel with a friendly atmosphere. Himley Hotel is located on the Shropshire border, on the edge of Dudley.
Score from 460 reviews Good
The room was very pleasant - spacious and well-equipped
I don't know if I was just unlucky with the location of the room but I was woken many times during the night by loud voices and things banging
The whole experience my and friends compliments
Everything about it
Friendly efficient reception staff. They acknowledged our request for a quiet room and reallocated us, as we checked in, to a room on the 4th floor due to events taking place in the function suite and bar. Great location for shopping and the sight-seeing we had planned. Good spa with friendly staff on the reception and the planned refurbishment will improve on the existing facilities.
Only negative was the heat in the room. It was uncomfortably hot and there appeared to be no way to manually control this.
Prices of drinks in the bar
The room was excellent, large and well furnished. The pool etc was very good and the staff there very helpful and welcoming. Delighted to find lovely open countryside for walking nearby.
Waiting to book in and out - very disorganised. Curtains in the room had been affected by sunlight so the linings had holes in. Car park very busy with wedding guests.
We explained we had had a very long journey and no sleep the previous night due to noisy people in the room above in Cornwall. The receptionist was lovely and found us a quiet room which was already available for us to check into early in the morning so we could rest.
Room was a nice size, was clean and crisp looking. There was a trouser press and iron in the room, so I didn't have to call for one. Bathroom was nice, shower was powerful and hot.
Internet connection was terrible. It was slow and fell over quite a lot. I gave up and used my phone in the end. No power socket next to the bed to plug my phone into.
Clean room and bathroom
Wifi was poor. Restaraunt was not good value for money. For a 4* hotel - Staff need to be trained to give excellent service, not just average service
Plenty to do within walking distance
Carpet in our room hadn,t been hoovered
Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Layout very luxurious. Breakfast was really lovely, if can appreciate the quality ingredients - good bacon and sausages. Very courteous restaurant staff.
I was very happy the hotel overall, however reception staff were extremely slow in checking people in. More staff need to be on duty when larger groups are checking in.
It was all good
Some things need up dating like in the bad rooms chairs a bit burn by the sun and in the spar by the pool look up at the seeling tills need changing thank
Room quality Service Reception welcome and check out
Amount of food for price
Location and facilities were great. Room was clean and comfortable.
It was very hot in the room and we were unable to open the window. Bar prices were extortionate!
Staff very helpful.Comfortable and well situated for our stay.
Very noisy on Friday night coming from outside until, well after1.00am. Thought breakfast was a bit expensive.Sunday there was not so much choice, maybe because it was busier and we were later down.
I loved the staff very helpfull and pilite And the bed was comfy anf the room was great
Nothing cant fault it
Room comfortable (but it was a Club Room at £118 per night -room only - so that was to be expected - standard rooms are nothing special ). Staff polite and helpful.
Food very average. Limited restaurant menu, mainly chips with everything ! Poor quality steak at high prices. No decent draught beer in bar, only tasteless John Smiths at £3.80 a pint, so gassy that you ALWAYS got a short measure, a head of about 1 inch of foam (10%) by the time it settled, which made the real cost of the beer approx. £4.20 per pint (some mark-up ! Easy way to increase margins)
Reception area is nice, clean and tidy. Staff are very friendly and professional.
Broken skirting boards, hole in the bathroom door and dirty walls.
Not much staff didn't know what they were doing! I was left confused and unsure of what I was paying for! Booked in for Sunday lunch I had already played for and was tried to be charged again! On the Saturday night all I could hear was loud music so struggled to sleep!
Well situated right by Merry Hill. Huge room and well appointed. Friendly, efficient and helpful staff and all at less than we would have paid at a Travel Lodge!
What's not to like?
Stay was spoiled by children screaming in the corridors until late in the evening and starting again early in the morning...
Carpets in bedrooms need a good clean. Hotel dated
