The bathroom was shabby and did not reflect the general decor of the hotel. Needs updating very badly.

Location on the banks of the Tyne was fantastic. Staff, albeit polite were inexperienced and caused a lot of friction - stated my room had been cancelled , lots of drama/etc....detracted from the stay and delayed me meeting friends for dinner which was outrageous.

The hotel is positioned right on the river - my room had a bay window view over the Tyne. Every member of staff that I had contact with was friendly, polite, helpful and smiley. The shower was fantastic - I love a good strong shower to wake me up in the morning! The room I stayed in (323) was a decent size and, although not the most modern, was clean and more than adequate for my weekend needs. Only minor gripes really: The bedroom decor is a bit tired and dated, as is the TV. I'd have liked WiFi in my room. The sun shone in through the big window - I'd have liked to have been able to open a window to let some fresh air in. There was a very tight supply of coffee and milk.

Great location I don't like it when two single beds are put together as a double . It is very uncomfortable. Standard double beds are much better

Excellent location. Be aware when booking with booking.com that even though you specify twin room at this hotel you are requesting a twin only and may end up with a double. Not great for a father son combo as you can imagine. Girl on desk ended up putting us in a larger room with 2 double beds but only after much huffing and puffing on her part. As I say though, to her credit, she did help us.

Stunning location overlooking the Tyne. Very relaxing with beautifully comfortable bed. A little shabby round the edges - carpet threadbare and decor tired but I understand a refurb is happening soon

Spacious bedrooms, friendly reception staff, value for money, nice views. Rooms somewhat dated, not quite as central as we would have liked, only one elevator working.

Very close to the venue we were attending and also good for the city centre. Great deal through booking.com. Very friendly, helpful staff. Asked about local attractions and received excellent, informed advice, directions, etc. Really appreciated and advice turned out to be excellent. Car park very convenient and no extra charge. Nice view of the Tyne. Fridge provided in room (not set very cold, but good enough). Left a jacket in hotel - noticed while still in town, called them up, housekeeping went to check and called me back to arrange return. Could have opted to have it posted but chose to swing past hotel on way out of town and pick it up. Again, really appreciated helpfulness of the staff. Room close to Metro bridge over the Tyne so a little bit noisy at times when a train was passing by, but not too bad. Room decor, TV, etc slightly dated, but see letter in room stating that refurbishment is under way. No option offered for twin room which is what I originally wanted. Not sure if this got lost in translation between booking.com and hotel. No big deal so didn't bother trying to change. Breakfast very expensive so opted not to take this and found a nice, clean cafe very close by in which we had two breakfasts for half the cost of just one at the hotel.

Great location at the quiet end of the Quayside (but be prepared to climb lots of steps or a steep hill if walking into the city centre). Our room was large and had a lovely view of the river. It was good to have on site parking and wifi (but see below). We appreciated the pool on site too. The room was in need of decoration (which I gather is planned) - the carpet was threadbare in places and the furniture and bathroom fittings a little tired-looking for a four star hotel. The king-size bed was actually two singles pushed together and because of the age of the mattresses it was impossible not to have a gap between them. I feel that at this price the hotel could include free wifi instead of charging £5 per day (but at least this was per room not per person). With the £5 per day for parking too, that added £50 to the cost of our five night stay. We didn't bother with breakfast - £14.95 is a lot to pay unless you plan to eat a large amount, and we're light breakfasters.

Location An absolute disgrace of a room with worn carpets and two collapsed single beds pushed together to make a double. This hotel is in dire need of some money spent on it. Their is no pattern or material on the bedroom carpet and is worn to the hessian. We had to get the cleaner back as the bath was covered in hairs and the mirror dirty. If you want a clean smart room don't stay here.

all the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. the bedroom was huge and the breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. some of the decor was a little tired and the carpet in the dining room was threadbare in places. bed could have done with being a king size instead of a double as there was plenty of space.

The location was very good. Lovely views over the Tyne. There were often queues at Reception and one member of Reception staff allowed another guest to push in front of us - knowingly. The Spa was disgraceful. The Hot Tub, Sauna and Steam Room did not work. The pool was ok. The whole hotel is overdue a refurbishment. I do not consider it a 4 * hotel.
