Good location on the Tyne with good views. Room was a good size. Reception staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel felt tired. It did not feel four star. The bed was on wheels which meant it moved about if you did anything more energetic than just lay down. The pillows were flat. There was a sign in the bathroom saying to close the bathroom door when showering so as not to set off the fire alarm. This is ridiculous. Most annoyingly it was not possible to open the windows, which on a beautiful day was very frustrating.

The staff. Ease of access to the city and attractions. Rooms even club rooms need updating. Lobby dull. Ongoing repairs evident. Not a luxury experience.

The location was nice. On the riverside. Very nice staff. They performed good service and were very helpful. Good parking available on site, easy to access with luggage. The hotel was in serious need of a refurnishment. There was a smell of old in the hallways and in the rooms. There was a removed window/door standing next to the elevator on the fith floor. Old TV's without batteries in the remotes. The mat to prevent you sliding in the tub had seen it better days. The inventory in the bathroom was very worn. The cupboard in the room was broken. The fridge contained only a bottle of wine, no water or softdrinks . Only one elevator working and it took for ages to get up and down. The elevator out of order/under repair was covered up with in a very "cheap" way. Not a good job by the repair man. Did not find the stairs at once and was unsure if it was allowed to use them. They also seemed very rough and the stairscase was dark. Breakfast lacked a little choice in food. The English breakfast was not presented in a good way. And the breakfast closed at 1030 on a Sunday, a little early we thought. In general it was acceptable, but compared with the roomfee and the fact that this should be a 4 stars hotel we were very dissapointed

Everything else. Why do you only have one comfortable chair in the room. One old crumbly has to perch on the bed! Lifts were having a bad day.

Relaxed and a great location. We needed to leave early (train south) and booked a 06:15 wake-up call - which never happened: we were almost late. The place seems run-down. The window was buckled and near-impossible to close. The trouser press cabinet had no trouser press.

All staff were courteous and approachable. Room views were outstanding. Room size and cleanliness was great Spa is a bit run down - no sauna, no jacuzzi, no drying spinner for costumes. Reception staff took newspaper ordcer and then forgot to process it - but did supply an alternative!

The hotel is in a good location. This hotel has clearly seen better days. I was very disappointed by my stay. The hotel itself was run down looking, and the pool area was disgusting. The jacuzzi and sauna were both out of action and seemed to have been for some time. The pool area itself was dirty, with litter lying around within it. I would not have stayed in this hotel had I been aware of what it was like, and I feel that it was very overpriced for what it was. I raised my complaints with the duty manager, who was polite, but in my view made limited efforts to help.
