location by river was nice , going shopping or out into town was bit of trek uphill, small thing i know, maybe if come again go a to hotel on top of hill .
room had 2 bathrobes alas could only be used if you were tiny person probably a child.
Everything about this hotel was excellent
Staff very nice
Room was like stepping back into the 1970's Everything was scratched and bolted down for eg. the hair dryer was bolted down and the lead was only a foot and a half long so you had to move you head to the hair dryer - very difficult. room really needs doing up.
Loved the location, very impressed with large windows overlooking the river, loved the spacious rooms.
Think the whole hotel could do with a revamp, first impressions of front of building Very tired needs a lick of paint , could be and probably has been very impressive hotel. overall a very enjoyable stay would definately return to this hotel
Too hot in the rooms. Difficulty in adjusting the temperature
nice big bed
bathroom is a bit dated
Nice view of the river & good location
The hotel is tatty and has an old & depressing feel about it
Great view over the river Tyne from the window.
Only 1 lift working with no obvious access to stairs.
The view from the room was good over looking the river. The location is within walking distance of city centre.
The room was very dated and in need of refurbishment. In the bathroom the varnish and paint were in bad state on the door and bath panels, where moisture had worked it way up from the floor. The bath towel rack was damaged and hanging at such an angle the staff were no longer using it to store the towels. There was no WIFI signal to the room we had as it was at the end of the hallway. The staff said that sometimes the signal was not strong enough to reach the room. The room was very hot during the night and the cooling fan did not cool the room. The staff said the cooling system had been turned off for the season!! The carpet in the room had black stains on it and look really bad. How this hotel can still maintain a 4 star rating is surprising to me.
rooms are gloomy as lighting is subdued
Close to town centre, nice little walk up the hill, room overlooking the river was OK, spacious and comfortable. close to plenty of bars and restaurants. The breakfast was really good lots of choice. Overall yes the rooms are a bit dated but they are doing them up slowly, great one night break though.
Nothing really everything was OK
Food very good. Room comfortable. Lovely to walk straight out onto quayside. Amazing views over the Tyne
Internet frustrating. Drinks expensive. Token gym facilities
The room was nicely situated with a view of the Tyne as I expected. Comfortable bed and plenty of room for one.
I ordered a Cappuccino mid-morning from the bar. It was horrible - stale/old coffee beans I suspect. It also cost in excess of £3.
excellent room & views of the river
early morning noise of metro trains
Location and comfort
Friendly Service by staff members. Good food. Excellent views with floor to ceiling bay windows. Good selection of restaurants within short walk of quayside area.
Poor shower water pressure had to dance to get wet. Power shower would be a good improvement.
Location and views up the River Tyne were lovely, good breakfast.
tired rooms with chipped furniture, cobwebs, pelmets missing, tiles missing from bathroom floor, too much money for what it is
The bedroom and bathroom were of a good size and clean and tidy. In a good location. Guests were considerate and there was no sign of stag-dos or hen-dos, hence the levels of noise and intoxication were absolutely fine.
The gym is pants! And the breakfast is too expensive to make it a cost effective option.
Breakfast buffet was not hot enough
Staff were excellent.
WIFI or rather lack of it unless you paid.
Rooms nice Clean
No pool. Don't advertise a pool if you have shut it 6 months ago!
As always, the staff are friendly and helpful, and the hotel is a very comfortable and relaxing place to spend a short holiday. Been coming fairly regularly since the hotel opened and always enjoy our stay.
2 lifts out of order, apparently from before we arrived as well as during our stay. Breakfast not what it used to be! Noticeable shabbiness compared with previous visits
Service was very good and staff could not have been more helpful.
On evening of our arrival we were very cold in the dinning room, the bar and even the bedrooms. One of our party was disabled and we had stated this when booking but our rooms were at the far end of the corridor. We booked club floor but our room overlooked the side of the hotel and the dustbins!
It was a comfortable, clean and the view was brilliant.
The views over the Tyne where pleasant, but the loud noisy fisherman on the quayside under my window were a pain.
Cold shower, water gets everywhere shower curtain a joke, lavvy not flushing, aloof staff , big hills to negotiate when heading into town, sparse tea and coffee facilities, 2nd rate breakfast for £11.50, dirty balcony. Defo a tired clapped out shell of a four star, bout 2.5 star now.
