Quite central. Only a few hundred yards from Armada Way shopping centre and a mile from the Barbican restaurant / pub area ( fiver by taxi for the unfit ! ). Safe underground car park. Had to pay for car park ( would prefer if they hide this in the bill ). Room was quite small. Had to take service lift to the car park

Breakfast was dissapointing, we went down at 945am and the hot food counter was empty of many of the items and we had to wait for it to be refilled, no plates had to ask for them. There was 6 on our table and they only brought 1 rack of toast we had to ask for more. they did not ask if we wanted any more tea and coffee and no one asked if everything was ok

Bar was open quite late when I arrived. Hotel has some parking. Not too far from station. Near a small park. Tea making facility in room Rather old design of room and bathroom. Old style tv and rather small Expensive Internet charge. Not really four star standard today. Might have been 15 years ago.

Friendly staff, very accomodating. Spacious room and the location was close enough to the city but far enough away from nightime revellers. Sainsburys is next to it also, which was handy.

It was a wonderful stay, for our honeymoon, we loved staying at the hotel, which is in a very convenient position, as we travelled by train and it was less than 5 minutes walk away. I would definitely recommend the hotel, superb service, and everything was to a very high standard. Plymouth is a wonderful City and the hotel's position close to the railway station makes it a good location to plan visits over the River Tamar to Cornwall from, which would also be easy to arrange if travelling by car, due to the hotel being on a main road, directions being well sign posted all around, excellent bus services are also to be found in Plymouth, both by Plymouth Citybus and First in Devon and Cornwall

It was close to the shops and the university. The bed was comfortable. Not too hard like at other hotels I have visited. The room was nice and quiet for the main part, so we weren't woken up by banging doors or noisy guests. They did accommodate my gluten intolerence to a degree (but the bread was bought from a supermarket, and was dry, as usual!). The hotel is not as nice as it appears in the photos, it is one of the less attractive concrete buildings that seem to be everywhere in Plymouth, and everything in it is a little bit old and worn out. Some of the staff are a little bit useless, but some are very nice. The rooms could be in a better state: the bathroom grouting is a mess and there was an area on the ceiling that needed re-plastering (and we were staying in a Connoisseur room!). The layout of the room and the bathroom are a little awkward also. The breakfasts were sub-par, with the yoghurts on offer being a little warm, the porridge being undercooked and the fry-ups being a little poor also, with overly greasy bacon and watery scrambled eggs. The weekend chef is clearly better than the one during the week. Smoking outside the hotel in winter was a freezing experience, not even a small patio heater provided, let alone somewhere to sit! All in all I would say that the hotel is quite average, possibly slightly over-priced. It may have been a very nice hotel about 10 years ago, but it has gone downhill since.

The hotel is comfortable, the staff accommodating, it is convenient to the shops and within walking distance to the Hoe, Barbican and other attractions. The restaurant does a very good breakfast. Tea and coffee facilities. My husband liked the fact that he could get Sky Sports on the TV. It has an internet facility in the room and luxury bathroom products. Parking is limited.

My bed was one of the most comfortable that I have ever slept in at a hotel. The decoration and facilities are starting to look very dated. Needs modernising.

The beds were very comfortable....thats about it really. Was not impressed with lack of parking and being told that I would have to park my car in Sainsbury's car park overnight. Which then had to be vacated by 0930 or pay and display. Question is if your vehicle gets damaged whose responsible??

Just the location and easy to find, also the easy access to the city center. The noise coming from the shopping center car park. Windows need looking at to seal the level.

Excellent location, close to railway station and shopping district. Friendly staff who fulfilled our request for a late check out free of charge. Pretty old fashioned rooms, expected a slightly newer tv and bathroom facilities. No fridge/mini bar and no safe.

The central location For a 4 star rated hotel the public areas looked very tired and overdue an update. Our room was described as "Club" - in reality far from superior.

“Apart from being very good value, the reviews were very good for the hotel and that's always important. The staff were excellent - friendly and welcoming. The room although fairly basic was comfortable, warm and had everything we needed. Breakfast was good and the evening meals they are now serving were good quality and very good value. Weather whilst we were there was not great but the quality of the staff and the hotel made up for it. We will use the hotel the next time we are in Plymouth.” Christopher, Basingstoke |
