I usually go 4 star on holiday but decided to go 3 star on this occasion as we were touring and did not expect to be spending a lot of time in the hotel. The Corbyn Head exceeded our expectations in almost every department. We were greeted warmly on arrival and the friendliness of the staff was complemented by politness and efficiency in the dining room where the head waiter ran a very tight ship. The quality and flavour of the food at breakfast and dinner was impressive and the chef willingly prepared a diane sauce which was not on the menu especially for me. The view of Corby Bay was pretty spectacular and on a par with any other sights we saw during the holiday.

The front desk staff and the dining room waiting staff were 5 stars. In fact I have stayed in 5 Star hotels where the staff was not as good. The food was also excellent and of a very high quality. We noticed on leaving the Hotel that the clean bed linen was laid on the floor out side of the rooms waiting to be cleaned. This is a pet friendly hotel and the clean bed linen should not be stored on the hall floors before being put on the beds.

All staff very attentive nothing to much trouble for you to enjoy your holiday. Hotel very clean and bedrooms cleaned to a good standard. The cooked breakfast was presented well and tasted as you expected with a good variety of choice. Easy access to Juices, Cereals etc, Tea ,Coffee brought to your table on arrival in Breakfast room. Evening Meal Menu offered a good choice , again well cooked and presented well. Location of the hotel is good with sea views from the Bar and Restaurant with adequate car parking. Our Bathroom needs updating , did'nt like carpet on the bathroom floor should all now be tiled , but the Shower was excellent.

Location was excellent, large group staying in three hotels. All within the same area. Didn't like the bed linen, duvets would have been nicer but that's just personal preference

The location was excellent, overlooking Torbay & the sea, without being in the noisy, busy part of Torquay. Easy to catch buses, ferries & trains, leaving the car in the car park for a change. The staff on reception were very helpful. Staff and the food were excellent in the restaurant. It was a real pleasure having dinner and breakfast. The room staff etc. were also very pleasant. Some of the furniture in the lounge was getting tired and needed a good polish. The worst thing was, we had a lovely picture window in our bedroom over looking the sea, but it had not been cleaned for sometime. Also the bed was very uncomfortable and squashed into an alcove. The mattress needed replacing badly. The housekeeper agreed, but implied she was not allowed to replace it. Also the furniture in the bedroom was getting tired and needed a good polish.

Although only staying for two nights this hotel was ideal for our needs, very pleasant and efficient staff, comfortable room and a very good menu for both breakfast and dinner.

Staff attentive, helpful and friendly. Location is disappointing as it is lengthy walk from the town centre and as the majority of guests were elderly this means a car drive to the town. Also there is a busy main road immediately in front of the hotel and a railway line to the rear - fortunately trains stop at around 2300. Evening meal menu was limited and quality only acceptable.

The view out the window Was very old and old fashioned furnishings and was not walking distance from the restaurants and bars in Torquay. Also there was no beach outside the hotel.

Lovely location, great views. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. A very pleasant weekend. Our only complaint was that the room at night (we were in the Penthouse) was cold due to the heating being turned off at some time and not being turned on again till morning. I will add that we were there in February and it was cold.

Gives a good view from the bar, the lounge, and the front bedrooms of the Torquay coast, seascape/misty in the morning, lovely in the sunshine, and attractive lights at night. Staff at reception, restaurant and bar were friendly and efficient without exception, which tells you that the management is good. Choice of food from bar snacks to full 4- course dinner gives flexibility, and good breakfast menu. All food was good quality. Plenty of car parking, which for us was essential. Overall a very good 3 star hotel. Rooms with the best view (at the front) are subject to road noise if the windows are open, but on balance the view is worth it. Bed was harder than we have at home.

It was an excellent place for our 56th wedding anniversary, having spent our honeymoon in Torquay. The view from the room was wonderful, as our home is up a quiet country lane. There was so much to visit by bus, using our bus passes! My husband is into steam, so we didn't have to go far to find some. The architecture in the towns and villages was so interesting and museums were great. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the establishment so relaxing. We had a wonderful holiday. Extra shelving in the shower room would be an advantage.
