I usually go 4 star on holiday but decided to go 3 star on this occasion as we were touring and did not expect to be spending a lot of time in the hotel. The Corbyn Head exceeded our expectations in almost every department. We were greeted warmly on arrival and the friendliness of the staff was complemented by politness and efficiency in the dining room where the head waiter ran a very tight ship. The quality and flavour of the food at breakfast and dinner was impressive and the chef willingly prepared a diane sauce which was not on the menu especially for me. The view of Corby Bay was pretty spectacular and on a par with any other sights we saw during the holiday.

Absolutely lovely hotel. Staff couldn't have been more helpful, especially the waiters and waitresses. They all made our stay very welcome. The star waiter for the week though has to be Vincent. He was just so professional in his work, but made us feel at ease. However all the staff were excellent. Rooms were cleaned every day, so that was fine. All in all, an excellent stay. Also a bus stop right outside the door. Easy to get to places, although a little far from the town centre. Not your fault though. Very enjoyable stay, and am surprised it is only 3 stars. Should be 4. Would recommend to anybody.

Large wardrobe and little extras such as box of tissues in the room and a tea tray with plenty of milk cartons and a hot chocolate sachet. I think all hotels should provide hot chocolate option and I look for this as a real plus point. Shows they have give it some thought. V Comfy bed Receptionist very pleasant but rest of staff foreign and 'functional'. First down to breakfast and asked for a window seat as it was a glorious morning - only to be told it was reserved. I've never stayed in a hotel before where tables for b/fast were reserved!! I was not very happy and almost walked out. I might add throughout our hour long b/fast only 3 other tables became occupied and not the one by the window. It should be first come first served for b/fast. Up until then I'd been very happy with the hotel. Left a bad taste! However, I would recommend with caveats.

It's location to the sea front, having a car-park and the friendly and helpful staff who made my one night stay as welcoming as possible. Squeeky floorboards

Wonderful location, large bedroom, friendly staff, comfortable beds. Booked standard room but arrived to find that we had a room with sea view and balcony for same price and the view was stunning. A litte dated compared to many hotels now. Corridors not very inviting and very creaky floorboards. I know it was end of September but the weather was wonderful and was forecast to be so, but the swimming pool was closed and there was no indication on any website that this would be the case. The availability of a swimming pool was one of the reasons that I picked this hotel;

Gives a good view from the bar, the lounge, and the front bedrooms of the Torquay coast, seascape/misty in the morning, lovely in the sunshine, and attractive lights at night. Staff at reception, restaurant and bar were friendly and efficient without exception, which tells you that the management is good. Choice of food from bar snacks to full 4- course dinner gives flexibility, and good breakfast menu. All food was good quality. Plenty of car parking, which for us was essential. Overall a very good 3 star hotel. Rooms with the best view (at the front) are subject to road noise if the windows are open, but on balance the view is worth it. Bed was harder than we have at home.

The room with balcony and sea view. Easy access to public transport and town facilities. Reasonable parking. Good breakfast choice. Helpful staff. Stairs and fire doors, no lifts. High pre-fixed price for dinners, especially for those who do not want a lot to eat. This put us off even looking at your menus.

Position of Hotel was excellent. Staff very helpful and friendly. Standard of bedrooms poor in relation to furniture and cleanliness. On busy road road, so could not have windows open, and railway line close at rear of hotel. Think the hotel should have this in their description.

It was an excellent place for our 56th wedding anniversary, having spent our honeymoon in Torquay. The view from the room was wonderful, as our home is up a quiet country lane. There was so much to visit by bus, using our bus passes! My husband is into steam, so we didn't have to go far to find some. The architecture in the towns and villages was so interesting and museums were great. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the establishment so relaxing. We had a wonderful holiday. Extra shelving in the shower room would be an advantage.

The location was ideal for what we needed The decor is a bit tired and the rooms very small and too warm, having windows open not an option as the road noise was too loud. Breakfast could have been better
