Cornerstone B&B

I loved that our room had a bath! We were in the middle of a long fund raising walk from Canterbury to Hastings, so the big bath with plenty of hot water to soak our weary bodies in was a complete God-send! Thank you so much.

Location to the Town Centre & Station

The Bed sunk in the middle very uncomfortable. Noise from Drunks & Yobs all night in the High Street.

Great location. Quiet. friendly and attentive staff. A good English breakfast (provided at a nearby Cafe)

the wooden framed double glazing let through an icy draft ,resulting in cold feet the first night. An extra blanket was provided and used on night 2, as was the electric fan heater provided as standard.(Weather included snow &0.C temp.)

The staff were very friendly and helpful. We felt comfortable there.

It was a cute little cottage style house and I felt really comfortable here. Really close to shops and cafes. Also the train station is about a 10 minute walk away and the bus stops are a street away. The room I was in had a TV and ensuite bathroom provided with towels. There was also a little dressin table with a kettle and lots of tea/coffee sachets. I'd highly recommend for someone needing to stay somewhere for cheap or backpackers travelling through. Even couples/small groups staying there for a holiday.

It was a bit difficult to find but I think that's because I didn't know the area well and it was dark! Also, it got a bit cold at night time but I didn't want to ask to put the radiator on so that was my fault as well!

Small, clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. English breakfast is provided at a local cafe (2 doors away) this has the advantage that you can have breakfast as early or as late as you like. The staff at the cafe are also very friendly.

The hotel is located just off the high street and is therefore subject to a fair amount of noise in the early morning with street cleaners and delivery vehicles. Nonetheless it is good value being right in the centre of town only 5 minutes walk from the train station

Asked for my breakfast at 7.45, do not get breakfast, had to leave 8.15, not good and will not use again, petty as use two to three times a year

Very clean and the fact you had a front door key to the b&b to come and go as you please. Great for a night out with friends who live in the town when you live further afield. I know Ashford well so was ideal for me.

I get the impression there is only one member of staff at the b&b at any given time who lives on the premises and does all b&b duties except breakfasts which you get at the local Gorge cafe. I am sure there are economical reasons for this and the lady in charge is from Eastern Europe. No complaints on that score as and I'm sure security isn't too big an issue as I believe and hope all guests prebook with card and address details before hand. I'm sure all guests are verified even if they do walk in off the street though but I even as a man would be abit worried if I was there living alone surrounded by complete strangers even if they are paying guests. I personally don't feel anyone regardless of where they are from and how little they may be being paid should be left alone in charge at night especially if they are female! Maybe the lady in question is question lives on the premises with a partner? No idea, I do hope so for her personal safety but that would give me concern if this was my business.

The room was comfortable and spotlessly clean. The staff were friendly and helpful yet unobtrusive. There was a fridge in the room and plenty of tea and coffee supplies. The kettle was fuull sized. The price was very reasonable for ppeople on a budget. The building was ancient and sympathetically restored yet with all amenities. It was quiet and relaxing yet centrally located within walking distance of restaurants and shops.

The only thing is that, as the weather gets colder, and for people like me who like a cold bedroom and a warm bed, is that an extra blanket supplied foor the bed would be a good idea.

Apart fro the used tissues in the sideboard draw, the room was clean and tidy.

Parking - Need to include parking. I ended up with a parking ticket after being advised by the hotel that parking was free. The web site says it is free. It is until 7am in the morning. Not happy. Should I send Cornerstones the parking ticket? The off site Breakfast was poor as was the cafe where it was served.

Convenient for Ashford station and for meeting at a hotel on the other side of the town. Surprisingly quiet, down an alleyway off the High Street. Breakfast provided in a cafe just a few doors down.

Just as well I had done my research beforehand on bus services and location of my business meeting, as staff were all non-native and didn't know anything about Ashford.

The location and price of accommodation. The cleanliness was important to me and friendliness. Would stay there when visiting Ashford.

It was relatively near Ashford station and the staff were civil. The breakfast in the room was fine and the breakfast in the nearby cafe was OK. We were up-graded to a better room on arrival. The staff got us a taxi to take us to the station in the morning.

When we arrived the hotel was closed although it had said that we were free to arrive after 3p.m. The notice on the door said that we had to ring a number to get in. We do have a mobile (rarely used) but I thought that was unacceptable. When we were let in the member of staff indicated there was a bell on the door (not referred to) but that it was not working. Not the hotel's fault, but a taxi from the station refused to take us there indicating that it was impossible to drive there (not true). It was not as short a walk as they indicated.

Friendly and helpful service, very near to my place of work and within easy reach of everywhere I needed to go to.

There were some problems with noise - doors slamming and from traffic on the main road in the early mornings. The room was hot - I needed to buy an electric fan and the odour from the electric air freshener was a bit strong.

Wonderfully friendly Polish couple running the place, who responded with delight to a few Polish words I knew and dared to try out! For a relatively simple B&B I cannot recall the last time anyone offered to carry our luggage upstairs; it happened here and was most welcome after a long and tiring journey! Access to a snug little open-air balcony was a delight in which to relax with a drink in fortunately clement weather. Highly recommended!

Cornerstone b&b is secluded in a courtyard off Ashford High Street. However, parking is only available from St John's Lane to the back of the property. It is quite well located for the Eurostar station at Ashford, although not many trains stop there any more. There is major investment in progress to improve Ashford town centre, so it's quite a nice place to be.

The room and bathroom were clean enough but the furniture was quite shabby and one of the twin beds in my room was quite lumpy. I often stay at B&Bs when I'm on cycle trips. I have stayed I much better establishments for £30. Cornerstones charged £55. Finally, breakfast is not available at Cornerstones; you are given a token for the Gorge Café a few doors down the street. This was a main plate and a drink, but no juice or toast were offered. Altogether, not the best experience. Why was the lack of breakfast not evident on Booking.com?

Located an easy 10 min walk from the station and in the centre of the village. The room was quaint and small with a low ceiling of exposed beams and was well worn. The ensuite bathroom was huge by comparison (fitted out for disabled guests), with a good shower. We chose the "English" breakfast option, which meant going to the cafe next door, where the food and coffee was what one would expect. WiFi was reasonably fast and reliable. Staff had a casual approach, but were close by and available by phone when required. In summary, this b&b was convenient for a one-night stop-over for Eurostar travellers.

A bit of noise was noticeable at night from being on the ground floor next to a car park, and from the plumbing of adjacent rooms. The ensuite bathroom was not as well maintained as it could have been.

We enjoyed our stay at Cornerstone B&B but must say that it was not easy to find due to its location, it does not have a front entry. We had to ask directions twice but did find it and was able to park at the back of the property. The hotel is a real tudor property with a very narrow stairway but our room was a real surprise, plenty of room with a good size bathroom. There was 3 of us in our room but did not find it crowded as some B&B's can be. Front desk staff very helpful and pleasant. Highly recommended. Bathroom first floor (not the laundry room): water too hot (save money by turning down thermostat), shower head at too high a level and angle wrong so difficult to prevent water going on bathroom floor. George cafe poor although service good.

Nice, clean hotel. Central location. No parking. No windows in the room but a big, bright sky-light - a bit too bright for summer nights! Staff very friendly and helpful.

My room was next to reception. An alarm of some kind went off at the reception desk at about 4.30 and woke me up. The cafe that provides breakfast charged me for my glass of orange juice.
