Clean, comfortable. Like living in a big family home. Breakfast was honor system, you cooked or ate and then paid the prices in a honesty jar. Made our own breakfast, cleaned up after or selves and talked with lots of different folks from all over. Beds were great, showers had plenty of hot water. Great price. Pub under neath the hostel, I can see that in the summer with the outside pub overflow it would be loud. Parking is tough but it can be managed.

Good value for money, good location with the seaview, friendly staff. I would definitely return there. Somebody open the fire exit in the morning and the alarm went on for few minutes very early in the morning waking us up - but that was no fault of the Hostel. Shared bathrooms could be updated.

Excellent place to stay with young children. The rooms are not decorated to the most modern of standards but are big and clean and we found them more than satisfactory. Staff were lovely and you have the use of a massive kitchen which is well stocked with basic food that you are free to use for a donation. We found this the best part as with 3 small children it was a god send to have somewhere to cook for them. Situated above a busy pub and depending on what room you're in it could be noisy - however we didn't feel disturbed my it.

location The owner, Old Woman (i think) of Corran Hostel, COMPLETELY RUDE. She yelling on us. My Friend (Mr. CW) are sick (Cough and cold) because we haven't sleep for 2 days for celebrating New Year Eve. The Hostel's owner, said to my friend "thank for spread a virus in my hostel" (sound like that). And at night when we want go to the hospital for checking my others friend conditions (she got laryngitis), hospital is the only one place where we can get a medicine because all store in Oban are closed. When we want to go outside She (the hostel owner) stop us and yelling again, said that we DO NOT NEED go to hospital, with rudeness way. Everything is fine, we just disappointed with The Way She Talk and Yelling to the Guest, Her Angry Face, and Her Attitude.

Simple, clean, no fuss accommodation close to Oban town centre. Hostel is going through some improvements to the accommodation and the water in our room was turned off or a period with no warning given. Also radiators in our room did not work although alternative electric heating was provided and this has been like this for a while now.

Price would be the main reason to choose...On balance, still a fair choice considering not much to do in this tiny town.

Helpful staff managed to find a more accessible room as we had an older lady in our group. The conversations and friendships made i n the communal kitchen was a refreshing change from the isolation of hotels and even B&B's. Good location for our plans which included trip to Mull and Iona.

Friendly & helpful staff. Spacious and comfortable room albeit not the room we chose via Booking.com. Should have been a twin room but we eneded up with a double bed and sofa bed (possibly a family room). Great view from our room being at the front looking out over the water. Hadn't realised from the advert that there was a bar downstairs with live music. We were two floors above it and could hear the music until 12.30am plus the people talking outside as our room was located at the front of the building and the bar was open until1/1.30am. The noise levels weren't as bad as I had expected, bearable as it was only a one night stay and we had been hillwalking so pretty tired anyway and able to sleep once the music had stopped. Noise from outside didn't bother me too much but my room mate resorted to ear plugs. Not a fault but, a bit strange having a bath/shower & toilet in one room and a wash hand basin in the actual bedroom. Assume this had been some sort of conversion from guest room to en-suite? Still better than sharing a bathroom with other guests. My room-mate was disappointed that as a "hostel" it did not have a drying room to leave our walking boots/clothing in overnight.

Location The room was awful, dreadful. We were told we would get a twin room, and when we opened the door, there were 5 single beds - it looked like a bunk room or an army barracks or a prison. Then we were told we could not get a refund. We will never use Booking.com again.

My parents and I really enjoyed our stay here ... The staff were friendly and very accomodating to our needs :-) ... Cleanliness was observed and maintained ... And the facilities were averagely good :-) ... The outside scenery from our window is breath-taking (looking out into Oban's harbour and the adjacent island), but the window of our room is too high for our height :-) ... Nevertheless, i could say it is worth staying !!!

I don't normally write reviews but feel compelled to with this hostel. I was very pleaseantly surprised on arrival. The staff were all so friendly and accomodating. The bedroom was cosy, clean and basic- exactly what I required. The showers and toilets were clean. The wifi worked well. And what I really loved was the large, well equipped kitchen for use, and the large supply of breakfast basics available for a small fee. Definately recommend if your needs are for no-frills, cosy, clean and affordable accomodation.
