The hotel is quite close to the zoo and Murrayfiels stadium. The cooked vegetarian breakfast had spring rolls and a samosa which I found a little disconcerting.

I found the staff most helpful. It is an old style guest house. I found it comfortable placed for a visit to the local University campus. Decor distinctly dated.

The room was fantastic, very spacious. The Girl's that served me were really nice. The girl that was on at night time was very patient. I was a clean hour late after the check-in time limit. The girl's were lovely on the phone and at reception. Dapper.

The £2.00 charge (minimum) for use of a credit card, this should have been made clear before booking confirmation was reached & not by referring on-line to our credit card account details. Credit Card charge considered most irregular by many of our friends & associates to whom we have spoken regarding this. Had we known of this credit card charge, the booking would not have been made. Cooked breakfasts were served in their entirety from the menu, without guests being asked their preferences i.e. vegetarian, omelette etc. Distinct lack of reception facilities, particularly when being contacted by friends. Guest house standard for hotel price!!!

We stayed in room 30 and the noise from the heating system kept us awake until 4.00am. My husband had to turn off the complete heating system just so we could get to sleep. On waking, there was no hot water. I think the electrics need to be looked at urgently as they did not look safe and made some chronic clicking noises. The breakfast was a let down, whilst we waited for it to arrive, all we could hear from the kitchen was a big pan of oil bubbling then a few splash noises, presumably that was the budget sausages going in. Everything was deep fried even the bacon. That totally put me off, surely having a nice sausage and grilled bacon can't be that hard? We paid £65.00 for the room and I wished I had staying in a travel lodge. Definately not 3*'S. I would grade it as a 1* and I stay in lots of hotels so I know what I am talking about. I think £40.00 is the maximum I would like to have paid for this hotel.

The family suite we have at the rear on the ground floor was very spacious. Large breakfast and also choice of cereals/teas, etc. Convenient for shops/buses. Soundproofing could have been a bit better.

Pleasant middle-market guest house. Small but comfortable room with bathroom; good cooked breakfast; off-street parking; ground floor room could access free public area wi-fi. On the main road from the airport to Edinburgh, with a bus stop close to the hotel for a direct bus route to the city centre. Friendly helpful staff. The hotel does not have a restaurant (apart from breakfast) or a bar but almost opposite are a pub, an Italian restaurant and a fish and chip shop. Altogether excellent value for the price we paid via Booking.com. A little hard to spot at night in heavy rain, The sign is quite small and says "Corstorphine Guest House". Google maps shows the hotel as being closer to the city centre and on the other side of the road (but that's not the hotel's fault).

Good `middle of the road` establishment ideal for our purpose as we were out all day. Very pleasant staff, dated building and room but clean and comfortable. Heating in room needs attended to (staff member informed. Had no problem parking but car park would not cope with full rooms. No bar facilities.
