We stayed at the hotel while we came up to visit Edinburgh Zoo. We picked the hotel due to its location, a ten to fifteen minute walk straight down the road to the zoo, and the price, at the time we stayed it was just £20 per person per night including breakfast, which was unrivalled in the local area. The staff were very attentive and always on hand to help, breakfast was a highlight, lots of choice and we even got asked how we would like our eggs, it was a very personal service. The staff were extremely friendly and polite all throughout our stay and couldn't do enough to serve us. The room was very clean and had all of the amenities we required for a short stay of only two nights. It was nice and spacious. I slept fabulously well both nights and was extremely comfortable, the temperature of the room was not extreme in either way, just perfect. The location is ideal for the zoo and is on a high street which has lots of shops and restaurants and pubs on the doorstep, we were never stuck for somewhere to eat or to pick up bits and bobs. There is a Wetherspoons, a Toby Carvery, a McDonalds, a Tesco Express and a Sainsburys Local in the vicinity not to mention everything else we found. Very happy with my stay here and would gladly come back again on my next visit to the zoo!
Cozy, mostly quiet. Free wi-fi, free breakfast. Short walk to catch one of the buses. Nice neighborhood.
The entrance to the lobby was locked 24/7 which made it seem more secure, but every time someone rang the doorbell it was heard throughout the entire hotel. I thought it was a little overpriced, but I guess staying in Edinburgh isn't cheap, even if you're not on the main drag. Interior decorating could use a little updating.
Rooms exceptionally cold. In attic room had to leave radiators and electric heater on all night. Only sky light and couple of lamps, very dimly lit. Bed lumpy, furniture exceptionally dated, not in good condition. Very disappointing!
We liked the location, room and staff.
The breakfast ended too early at 9am. This included Sunday. Would prefer it to end at 9.30-10am
Location quite good - breakfast was also good.
No Wi-fi in the rooms. Check-in services were a bit awkward. There was something wrong with the electric wiring in the room as once we turned lights off the bulb kept flickering every 5 seconds which was a bit eerie. As it was close to midnight, didn't think it likely that we would find a staff member to help so we ended up taking the bulb out so could fall asleep.
Staff are absolutely on top of their game
Off Road parking
Room could do with updating but otherwise ok.
Staff very helpful
The young man in the office/reception on the night of the 28.12.14 was very helpful. He was also very approachable and made my stay. Great location if going to Edinburgh Airport. Jump on the airport bus and it is on route. Then in the morning jump on it again- takes 8 mins to the airport. Very comfy bed. Clean.
Continental breakfast wasn't very good, didn't like the plastic cheese in wrappers or the stale bread. But for free- the yogurts and cereal and option of a cooked breakfast made it worth while. I wouldn't buy the breakfast seperately though.
Lovely building and staff very friendly. Breakfast very good and well cooked.rooms were spacious and furniture looked new
We found the bedding and curtains although very clean should be updated as quite old also toilet brush needed changing.but good value for money
Excellent Location with easy access to Public transsport. Plenty of pubs and eating places in Costorphine. No need to go to centre of Edinburgh. Room was spacious and Hotel was quiet even though on a main road to Edinburgh. Breakfast very good with a choice of continental or cooked. No hassle checking in or out. Although no parking available in hotel it is easy to park in adjacent street with no danger to your car. The hotel was very good for the price. I would stay here again.
Cupboard for clothes a bit shabby if you were staying for a few nights. Rooms could probably do with a little TLC but not the end of the world.
Location was excellent, easy access to transport to City and Airport. Staff very helpful and friendly Very clean and comfortable..
We had no problems.
Treated my mum to a couple of days away in Edinburgh, the staff were lovely and very helpful, very cosy hotel. Breakfast was yummy!
The heating system, sometimes was a little to hot in the mornings
It was good value for money and served its purpose, clean, comfortable and warm. Missed breakfast so can't comment
Friendly staff, clean hotel , easy bus journey into the city and good value.
Convenient Clean Good breakfast Nice staff
No wifi in room
Staff very friendly and helpful, room size excellent lots of space for 3 adults , one in a wheelchair.
Breakfast up to 9am , everyone divided to go at one time which made dining room a bit tight for wheelchair , so we were seated outside the dining room
I liked the attention of the Scottish guy who works at night . Also the bedroom was comfortable . Excellent location. Due I got to early to check in I left my suitcases in the resting room for about 5 hours when I came back everything was in order . I highly recommend the hotel
friendly waitresses breakfast nicely cooked reasonably priced room
no bolt bathroom door
the staff were friendly and were willing to go the extra mile to help.
Walls seemed very thing, I could hear the rustling of a plastic bag in the next room
Nice location. Comfortable lodging. Excellant Breakfast.
Poor wifi access
Great character, large spacious rooms, ours even had a sofa, for relaxing or watching TV. Staff v friendly and helpful. Great value for money
A little bit past its heyday
Great food and service. Superb location, easy to access from Forth Road Bridge/M90 but a village feel to it.
Rooms were are bit tired and old spec. Bed sheets were clean but smelled heavily of laundry soap (poor rinsing?).
Staff very kind and helpful.
Room needs decorating.
