Dave,
Leicester
Just 5 minute drive from exit 1 off highway M6, Brownsover Hall Hotel is a fabulous Grade II heritage-listed Victorian Gothic mansion nestling in 7 acres of woodland and grounds. The magnificent building has a dramatic interior with a sweeping staircase and crackling log fires in the winter. Together with the stunning Gilbert Scott restaurant and atmospheric Sir Frank Whittle bar this gives the Brownsover Hall distinct charm. The hotel hosts many weddings and functions throughout the year, so dinner may be served in one of the hotel's beautiful private dining suites. Please check with the hotel at time of booking regarding restaurant services. Hotel Rooms: 47, Hotel Chain: Classic British Hotels.

Leaving Fixtures and fittings were cheaply implemented. Bedding was too small for the size of bed, and the bathroom light fell off the wall during the night, mirrors, switches rails and handles were all fitted without a spirit level. Breakfast was cold within a minute of being served and at £20 was vastly overpriced, Dinner, cold within 2 minutes, was adequate at best. Organisational skills were poor. Wedding reception tables were only laid out half an hour before the ceremony was due to begin, leaving little time for dressing. Our wedding party was gatecrashed and threatened by another group. Take your own alcohol as bar prices exceed London prices - g&t was £5.50. This hotel is very poor value for money and I would recommend that you avoid.

The Toilets in the courtyard rooms were tired and as they had no windows mould was evident on the ceiling (not enough ventalation). Toilet seat would not stay up (little things make a difference). Lighting levels were extremely low which made reading in the room difficult unless directly under a light or the bathroom.

Although a beauiful location for a wedding reception - If you're not part of the party, the hotel facilities (like the bar) seem a closed off. I'm sure I could have popped in for a drink but it would have felt like gatecrashing. Would have been nice to have an area for other guests to sit down and relax. Would think twice about staying here again on that basis.

We stayed there to attend a wedding held at the location. Found the venue to be perfect for a wedding for both the amenities at he venue and for being so close to the motorway network. This is not a complaint but more of an observation on customer service. On our arrival at around 6.30pm, the room was cold. The heating in the room was such that all was okay within half an hour. I accept this situation could have been avoided if we had let the hotel know our estimated time of arrival. That said, the heating in the bathroom (electric radiator) was not working at all. We organised a portable heater with an extention cable through reception. This was delivered to the room without delay but I feel reception should have been aware of this fault with the radiator.

It would be really nice if Brownsover Hall had a pool or a spa like most other hotels. Somewhere to go and relax or having a morning swim.

The location, grounds and breakfast. Dinner service was very slow, the food was overcooked and my colleague had to send back 2 glasses of wine because there were flies in them. Very disappointed.

The ambience of the place and the size was perfect for a small wedding without having to share the venue with anyone else.

Despite there being 3 successive wedding events during our stay ( in none of which were we involved) our party of 10 received excellent attention and service from all members of staff, including being provided at the manager's initiative, with a separate breakfast room for our own private use. We were all located either in the coach house or stables block, so we were not at all disturbed by party noise.

We loved the suroundings of the hotel, it has a great atmosphere. We stayed in the stables, which were lovely. The staff were friendly and helpful. We were not impressed with the facilities in the room. There was no hot chocolate, bottled water or shower cap and only 1 packet of biscuits between two of us. We usually find that these come as standard in hotel rooms and were disappointed to find they were not here. Our expectations were to have a few extra's, as the price we paid was quite expensive which didn't include breakfast.

The staff were lovely (although some seemed a bit inexperienced) - all were friendly and keen. We were upgraded to the Bridal Suite, which was very nice, but we had to move out as there was a wedding reception below the room which had very loud music. It was a nice thought, but didn't really work out. Nice food. Very clean. Nice receptionists. Could do with a little bit of redecoration/tlc in some areas.

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay, and will be visiting again on business. I have spoken to manager about corporate rates as many of my colleagues would use this hotel. I am waiting to hear from the manager, The room was quite small and very warmas windows did not fully open.

A character hotel, with tremendous charm. Lovely old buildings sympathetically restored. Grounds well kept, quiet location Good old fashion english breakfast, and plenty of it. Good parking area, Quick access to m6 motorway Room could have been slightly bigger to accomadate childs bed. A swimming pool and gym would also be useful in this type of hotel.

This hotel needs some tlc (tender loving care) . It has alot of potential to become a 'destination' hotel like a Kilworth Manor Hotel if the invesment is appropriately executed. No Fitness room, rooms are more like a boarding house .
