The location and setting was very nice, the rooms were okay, but the restaurant was absolutely amazing. If you cannot climb stairs, this hotel is not for you as it's situated and spread over a little hill. Not too many though.

I stayed in order to attend a family funeral. The location was good in relation to the family home, and I enjoyed the quietness and seclusion of the hotel site. It is an interesting building. Also, the staff were very helpful.

We loved the historical element to the property and the decor of the old part of the building. It was also easy to get to the local train station to get a train to central London, which is only 20 minutes away, but the hotel is quiet and surrounded by countryside rather than in the noisy city.

Lovely hotel. Nice ambiance, however it was Christmas/New Year Staff are very welcoming and certainly one of them remembered my partner. Always a good sign of customer service. Certainly recommend the hotel and will use it again in the future.

Beautiful old Tudor Building. Found hotel and executive room in original building comfortable and cosy which is nice this time of year. Fantastic views. Original room in "New Wing" a bit dingy. Breakfast in restaurant and room very poor. Hotel ok and service friendly but it is not 4 star.

The location and the "olde world" decor. The amount of stairs walking down 3 flights of stairs (we were in the hotel annexe) and then having to walk up a further two flights of stairs. Not good when carry luggage, babies and buggies etc.

The location was what I needed. Good internet access. Breakfast was uninspiring given the standard of the hotel. Furnishings in room in need of a makeover.

We were a disapointed that the light in the bathroom decided not to work in the middle of the night . It must have tripped a switch because once we reported it the problem was resolved immediateley .

The main house very impressive but would like to have seen something in the way of a potted history of the property considering it was built in the 1500 century. The staff knew abit about it but have looked everywhere to see who owned/lived there. Also there is a connection with the film industy which is very absent, although this is a hotel and not a museum there is an interest for people to find out about these very old county houses. Unfortunately a few moans about this hotel, mainly our room which was an executive but the room although clean was 1. very lumpy mattress which had seen better days and although the staff try to remedy this with the promise of a new mattress or a topper this never appeared and this was a 2 night stay, could not wait to get back to my own. 2. the wardrobe door would not open as there was a door closer which stopped it opening fully but the only long mirror was inside the door and as i was going to a wedding was not able to check my appearence. 3. toilet very, very hard to flush and toilet seat had seen better days 4. tv from the 70's only 4 channels - come on!!! although it did have wifi - go figure!!!! 5.gardens very dissapointing

The age and history of the building and the friendliness of the staff. The menu choices remained the same the whole ten days with no changes, or specials and it was a bit too far away from shopping district for light shopping and personal errands.

This is a lovely old building and I enjoy staying here. Not much with regards to the hotel except the wine in the bar is terrible. I arrived late and had one large glass which I took to my room as a nightcap. I couldn't drink it so it was still there in the morning. Need a slightly better quality of wine for £6.50 a glass

Our room in the new wing was large, bright and airy and, being at the end of the corridor, amazingly quiet. Receptionist as we checked in and out had a lovely cheerful disposition, a pleasure to talk to - sorry we didn't ask her name, but she deserves a special mention. A little difficult to find, firstly as Barnet Lane is so long, but also road signage too discreet.
