Excellent customer service and facilities
Fabulous golf course views
Slope on bedroom floor......natural in an old property but could have levelled up the bedside table to take account of it.
Staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. It's nice to be amongst people who enjoy working there. Nice atmosphere.
Love this place visit regularly this time a group of 7 of us beautifl views place and staff
Food is excellent, well prepared and presented especially so the full English breakfast. Staff seemed really helpful and pleasant in all areas of the hotel.
Not enough seating around pool area; we had to sit on the floor. Dead spider (enormous) on the side of the pool which was there for the 2 day stay. No map to show route around the golf course (both our group & group in front got a bit lost in the round). Mattress was like "bell metal"- very, very uncomfortable and unfortunately or room was extremely cold even though the temp. outside was quite mild. Also we were not made aware of the outdoor repairs which completely blocked the view from out window due to the scaffolding. Overall, not happy bunnies throughout our stay; to be honest I was ready to go home after the first night. Shame because this could be so much better.
Fantastic staff and a very speedy check in and check out service. Lovely grounds and great location from A1.
As a manager of a 4 star hotel I was very disappointed to be given a room that was in need of urgent repair work and a good clean. The bathroom had mould and mildew, the window was on floor level and provide very little natural light. The carpets need a deep clean and the furniture needs knobs replacing. The stable restaurant was nice but uncomfortable for what could be a stunning country retreat. Fantastic hotel let down by remedial work not being done.
The ambience and the choice of restaurants. Being older we eat less than younger people and the stables suited us so well. A lovely place to relax and order as much or little as one wanted. We had not been looking forward to the stay as we had to travel a long way but it was so conveniently sited and so well worth the effort. The staff also very kindly arranged for us to have a twin room instead of the double room on offer.
The room was lovely but the windows didn't open and the weather was very hot. I slept very poorly because of perspiring all night. The reception let us have a fan for the second night.
Food spa and room.We were given an upgrade as there was a wedding taking place. The room was very nice and the noise was bearable
Speed of service in dining room. It would appear that the staff were too busy due to apparently three receptions taking place at the same time...two weddings and a funeral.
Gym Separate Bar/Pub within the grounds of the hotel!!!
Had a great weekend Clive the owner stopped and asked us about our stay and made us welcome We have friends in the north east so will at hall garth again
i loved the space of the rooms and the settings was lovely
there was mould on the bath stains on the carpets music in the next room kept me away till 3am the next morning breakfast took along time to get to us and i had to leave before getting any breakfast.....
Feels like home as we are too large a family to stay at my elderly Mum's. We stay four or five times a year and always feel our small grandchildren are welcome.
Swimming pool area can get a bit stuffy!
Friendly staff. Value for money. Morning breakfast good but chef doesn't know how to cook scrambled eggs or soft poached eggs.
Hotel cold as front door always left open. Leisure centre staff not helpful didn't seem interested in hotel guests. Grounds arond hotel scruffy & looked unkept. When checking out no final presented had to ask for one. On checking this had been chaged twice for Sunday morning newspaper.
Lovely setting. Bedroom very comfortable. Breakfast very good, nice and relaxing.
Lovely building in lovely grounds.
Room was a bit small for two people to move around in comfortably.
Grapevine in Stables conservatory
view of garden dubious
Staff were so helpful. Holly on reception was realy excellent. Room in annex was large and comfortable- nice view over Golf course
Nothing I can think of.
Breakfast for two, in a window with beautiful view, tasty breakfast and cheerful, helpful staff
Pool area very tired- floor materials to changing rooms look dirty (I'm sure not)- not attractive .
Could not fault, decent room, not too expensive, food good, very good breakfast spread.
The food at the stables wasn't up to scratch on the Sunday.
friendly spa staff.Angela very good
surly bar staff bordering on rude breakfast poor quality food ,long waiting time had to hunt for towels
e, the views
noisy neighbours but they did quieten down eventually - walls in the newer rooms a bit thin
It's not to far to travel. My friend and I stay every couple of months. We use the spa facilities then get ready and go out to the stables. Enjoy a couple of drinks enjoy a nice meal. We then head back to our room get our pj's on and finish our evening with a couple of wines why we put the world to right. total relaxation from start to finish. I would highly recommend it to anyone in need of a de_stress.
I haven't come across I don't like.
Breakfast was good food served quickly and professionally. Comfortable and clean room. Pleasant setting.
Gym very busy early evening. Advertised good walks from hotel. The walks are either around the golf course or are overgrown.
Location & environment Breakfast was nice.
Décor was very bland. Room was very disappointing. Very noisy from upstairs room.

Breakfast charges 12.50 too expensive
