Food in Oswalds and Stables was good
Had to ask for room to be vacuumed, that should be done each day without asking, the service in the breakfast day, for all days of our stay except one, was abysmal. Numerous dirty dishes on the buffet table, brusque and unfriendly waitresses
The facilities and excellent pub food
Extra bed was a bit flimsy
Cleanliness Friendliness Comfort Quality of food Excellent choice of breakfast
The food was lovely part from the breakfast which you waited nearly an hour for 1 sausage half a mushroom uncooked egg and 1 slice of bacon
Majority of the staff were very misrible grumpy our room was small but clean apart from Bath room there was a huge damp patch on the ceiling were not told that we could up grade for an additional cost which would of been nice to know
Very thin walls meant you could hear everything from the bathroom next door!
Nice hotel reception and pub staff lovely
There was a huge cobweb in the corner of the room and i was eating cereal when the waitress just plonked my cooked breakfast down in front of me no apology so i had to continue eating with the bowl in the air ! not very good staff training
Friendly, clean, well placed and loads of facilities
Poor water pressure on shower
The staff were lovely, really friendly and helpful
Breakfast (although on the smaller side for £10 a pop) was very nice.
The door to the room was to small for me to get in without crouching down (6ft). Our room was above the kitchen and next to a boiler so we have the kitchen staff having loud conversations at the bottom off the stairs and the boiler humming all night which kept my partner awake. We where greeting by a very rude recpetionist who didn't tell us our room number and as the key didn't have a number on because it was ripped off we had to go through our paperwork to see which room we where in, all we got from the receptionist was a point in the right direction.
Liked the environment and the setting. Would have loved more time to use the golf course and the Spa, some really good staff
Asked for a four poster bed nearly 3 weeks prior to my booking date and didn't get one , the food was not really that good at all...
If I really had to be picky the bed was a little too hard for my liking and I did end up with a stiff neck and back the next morning.
No curtains or blinds in bathroom/toilet no privacy at all as you could walk past from outside only misty window as I stayed in room 54 (Royal Oak) ,I have messaged the hotel but no reply as yet , totally disappointed
Room was very close to the facilities warm and comfortable
Room was very dirty lamps and lights were thick with Dust and hair the bathroom was black with MOULD room 14 in the stables so avoid
Good deal, dinner bed and breakfast for two nights. First night (Friday) thoroughly enjoyable, good service from staff, no complaints re room etc. thoroughly chilled experience although had to request wine and chocs for room as had been missed out of package.
Sat - enjoyed spa experience but observed door not closing on sauna which impacted on other guests. Disturbance from guy in next room who was yelling to be let into room as was locked out. Breakfast Sunday was abysmal - restaurant very busy, waited over an hour for order which was incorrect. When finally got the correct order the portion was tiny, the poached egg was saturated in vinegar and baked beans were left on plate from previous incorrect order. No complaints re serving staff as they were obviously trying to do their best in adverse conditions. Marked difference between quality, quantity and presentation of breakfast from sat am to sun am.
the friendlyness of all staff
great food, comfortable spacious rooms, great leisure facilities, polite courteous staff
couldn,t fault anything
Bed was very comfortable
We were in room 28 and I think it was either a cable or badly fitting window but it rattled in the wind all night. Still it was a lovely stay in a very nice hotel
lounge in suite not used as too cold. Had to bleed radiators in bathroom and bedroom.
Very friendly helpful staff, good mix of bar food and higher cuisine
Clean rooms.nice location.stables bar was ok
The staff in stables were pushing me to settle the bill after we'd eaten.we actually still had drinks when the lady came to table with the card MaMachine.didn't like that at all.the wife accidently left her dress in our wardrobe.a couple of days later I rang, they said they would ring me straight back as soon as there found it.after 5'6 attempts of ringing the hotel to chase this matter up I eventually just went back to hotel to find the dress shoved in a back under the counter.not happy at all with staff.somebody should have rang me back..
Myself and my husband stayed here on 28th December 2014 to celebrate by husbands 29th birthday, we had a lovely time. Unfortunately the main restaurant wasn't open for evening meal so we had a meal at the stables which was still lovely
Upgraded to a suite. Wi-fi is good and the stables bar area is nice with good draught beer, staff are also very helpful.
Food in stables still leaves lots to be desired. The menu never changes and the quality isn't great. I had a crispy chicken sandwich that went back as it wasn't cooked properly.
A very pleasant country break while visiting relatives in the area. Recent upgrades have improved the buildings. Enjoyed the swimming pool.
Short of staff in the dining area - but there was a big wedding reception elsewhere to look after.
