Plenty to do, even in the rain

The rooms were too hot we had 2 rooms next to each other and we weren't allowed to leave the key in the door so we had to wedge the doors open so we didn't have to keep knocking on each others door

The location The room Cleanliness Good place just to get your head down for the night. Lovely setting for a wedding

Some members of staff (They need to keep their opinions to themselves. A few times heard unwanted opinions about family members) Do not get breakfast, it takes half an hour to just get a cup of tea. Unorganized Need to learn a few customer service skills.

Good facilities, breakfast was excellent, nice surroundings.

We got an awful nights sleep due to other guests shouting in the corridors and slamming doors all throughout the night. The room was also rather small too.

Rural location but close to A1. Good spa facilities. Pleasantly and comfortably furnished. Friendly staff.

Wi-Fi was down for nearly a whole day. Room & en suite was small and even when the sun shone it was too gloomy. Creaky floorboards!

Nice furniture and fittings. Lovely outlook. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Good parking. Beautiful building with lots of character. Plenty of sockets....often a neglected thought in most rooms.

Hardly any water pressure for the shower. Badly laid out room, meaning the dressing table occupier had to move for anyone to get past. No easy chairs even though it was advertised as such. There were two chairs and an end of bed couch but none were any good for relaxing in and reading. Wifi was not reliable.

Good wi-fi, nice bar area and outside areas. Rooms spacious and comfortable

Food wasn't as good as previous visits in the bar. The chicken was boiled and it came with a very salty sauce.

This hotel is situated in a great location just outside of Darlington and was booked as a surprise for my wifes birthday mainly due to the spa facilities.

We received a good service at check-in. We made our way to our room which can only be described as a box room. Very enclosed and hot with no air conditioning or fan available. We then made our way across to the spa area. We received a nice welcome and the chap was very friendly and chatty, we then made our way in. The sauna, steam room and jacuzzi could not be faulted, but the pool was absolutely freezing. The rate we had booked was Dinner, Bed and Breakfast. We had the choice of The Stables (Bar) or the A La Carte Restaurant. We opted for the Stables so made our way across for 9pm as the last sitting was 9.30pm OK Selection of food on the menu, what you would expect in a bar. The service left alot to be desired. They were no attentive and often stood talking. We ordered drinks at the bar and took a table which had yet to be cleaned. Someone then came across to clear the table, but a few minutes later we had to go to the bar and ask someone to come and clean it (As they were talking again). We ordered our starters and main courses at the bar. Once we had finished our main courses, our plates were cleared away, we were not offered deserts or coffee. So when we asked much to our disappointment we were told the kitchen was closed - epic fail! Service at breakfast - we were forgot about Pool was freezing BedRoom was too hot and not air conditioning resulting in worst nights sleep Our deal included a bottle of wine and chocolates on arrival which we never received!

NO HOT WATER on our first night! We had been travelling all day to get there and were all very tired. We were looking forward to freshening up and to give our kids a bath before bed time. Our children were so tired they fell asleep by 11:00. We waited until 12:30am and still no news about the problem. I called reception and was transferred to the night porter. He offered to let me into another room on the other side of the hotel to shower, but it was so late and I was so tired, I decided to just sleep instead. My wife and kids were asleep already. Low water pressure for the shower when the hot water came on in the morning. Drip drip drip... Very weak wifi signal in our room. BAD! No compensation or concessions offered. BAD!

Food and facilities was excellent. Staff polite and helpful. Package included evening meal and breakfast which was value for money.

Room windows had safety locks. Consequently on the night we stayed (hot and humid) the temperature in the room was terrible and it was difficult to enjoy the room or even sleep. The front desk told us that they couldn't disenage the lock as only the manager had the key.
