I asked for a nice room as it was a special occasion and we had a lovely room over looking the golf couse. Although restaurant closed the stables pub had excellent food !
The restaurant being closed on a Sunday night
Friendly staff and service Great location View from bedroom (room 1) of the golf course, very spacious and comfortable. Restaurant food excellent Stables Pub food very good Did not go for the golf but the course looked popular.
Despite new drapes and carpets and the four poster bed, the furniture was a bit tires and did not match. Bathroom needs an upgrade though shower worked ok. Few problems with the electrics in the room but these were soon resolved by the friendly maintenance manager.

I loved the facilities and really enjoyed the late opening time of the pool.
I found it difficult to sleep as the bed was to firm.
I have stopped at the hotel previously it's all ok but not worth the money.cleaner down stairs lovly on morning do where lesiure staff
Staff where rude and also somebody outside at 5 in the morning on motor bike just driving about for sake Of it the bath had hairs in and also toilet hadn't been flushed from previous Guest and also bed had stains on it not value for money and wish had stayed somewhere else has changed since last year when we stayed. I work in a hotel I work for best western and I think you need to clean and check Rooms propely and beote poliet In bar.
staff were pleasant, the bed was comfortable
The room was a bit cramped, the shower was terrible no water pressure, we were woken up early by the cleaners as I think there room was next to ours
The staff were very helpful but the service was slow generally, but the evening staff in the restaurant on Saturday 11th October couldn't have been better. They helped make my birthday meal very enjoyable.
The beds were lovely clean and comfortable, but the general cleanliness of the room wasn't up to scratch.
We were in the new wing. Large, light, smart room with wonderful views across the golf course. Breakfast delicious. Staff charming and helpful.
We had to walk a long way to the room and there wasn't a lift.
Very nice meal in the restaurant and very friendly helpful waitress
The spa could do with some modernisation. After a meal in restaurant was unable to get served a pint of beer in the bar, even though it was served in the restaurant. we were told to go over to the stables bar.
Nice location ,staff were really friendly and helpful Good free parking
Had a baby and pram and were up a flight of stairs and thru about 5 double doors to room. Food was ok,but was hoping for better,
Excellent customer service and facilities
Fabulous golf course views
Slope on bedroom floor......natural in an old property but could have levelled up the bedside table to take account of it.
Staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. It's nice to be amongst people who enjoy working there. Nice atmosphere.
Love this place visit regularly this time a group of 7 of us beautifl views place and staff
Food is excellent, well prepared and presented especially so the full English breakfast. Staff seemed really helpful and pleasant in all areas of the hotel.
Not enough seating around pool area; we had to sit on the floor. Dead spider (enormous) on the side of the pool which was there for the 2 day stay. No map to show route around the golf course (both our group & group in front got a bit lost in the round). Mattress was like "bell metal"- very, very uncomfortable and unfortunately or room was extremely cold even though the temp. outside was quite mild. Also we were not made aware of the outdoor repairs which completely blocked the view from out window due to the scaffolding. Overall, not happy bunnies throughout our stay; to be honest I was ready to go home after the first night. Shame because this could be so much better.
Fantastic staff and a very speedy check in and check out service. Lovely grounds and great location from A1.
As a manager of a 4 star hotel I was very disappointed to be given a room that was in need of urgent repair work and a good clean. The bathroom had mould and mildew, the window was on floor level and provide very little natural light. The carpets need a deep clean and the furniture needs knobs replacing. The stable restaurant was nice but uncomfortable for what could be a stunning country retreat. Fantastic hotel let down by remedial work not being done.
The ambience and the choice of restaurants. Being older we eat less than younger people and the stables suited us so well. A lovely place to relax and order as much or little as one wanted. We had not been looking forward to the stay as we had to travel a long way but it was so conveniently sited and so well worth the effort. The staff also very kindly arranged for us to have a twin room instead of the double room on offer.
The room was lovely but the windows didn't open and the weather was very hot. I slept very poorly because of perspiring all night. The reception let us have a fan for the second night.
Food spa and room.We were given an upgrade as there was a wedding taking place. The room was very nice and the noise was bearable
Speed of service in dining room. It would appear that the staff were too busy due to apparently three receptions taking place at the same time...two weddings and a funeral.
Gym Separate Bar/Pub within the grounds of the hotel!!!
Had a great weekend Clive the owner stopped and asked us about our stay and made us welcome We have friends in the north east so will at hall garth again
i loved the space of the rooms and the settings was lovely
there was mould on the bath stains on the carpets music in the next room kept me away till 3am the next morning breakfast took along time to get to us and i had to leave before getting any breakfast.....
Feels like home as we are too large a family to stay at my elderly Mum's. We stay four or five times a year and always feel our small grandchildren are welcome.
Swimming pool area can get a bit stuffy!
Friendly staff. Value for money. Morning breakfast good but chef doesn't know how to cook scrambled eggs or soft poached eggs.
Hotel cold as front door always left open. Leisure centre staff not helpful didn't seem interested in hotel guests. Grounds arond hotel scruffy & looked unkept. When checking out no final presented had to ask for one. On checking this had been chaged twice for Sunday morning newspaper.
Lovely setting. Bedroom very comfortable. Breakfast very good, nice and relaxing.
