The location is great for the centre of grimsby, and there is free parking. Hotel is value for money. The hotel is very worn out, the rooms are worn out and need updating. The TV we had in our room was as old as i am, and so was the kettle. The bathroom was very noisy with the fan, and we only had one towel. The hotel staff are not particulary friendly, but we can live with that. If you want a cheap hotel just to get your head down, then this is value for money. Dont expect the world as u will not get it.

Rude staff.unclean room.old fashioned and out dated.no proper bed sheets? filthy an utter disgrace as me and my partner often stay in hotels just to feel like we have some quiet time but this place i wouldnt ever consider giving a good review i am absolutely disgusted as its a local hotel in grimsby what does it make the town look like if they stay there. disgusted.

I had read one or two review’s for this hotel with mixed reception I am now on the third day of a four night stay and I must say I’m pleasantly surprised ok the first floor bedrooms are not too modern but they are large enough warm and very clean. The restaurant food is good not too expensive and large enough to satisfy me, but what this hotel lacks certainly makes it up with the very friendly and polite staff, nothing’s too much bother for them and they all have a little chat with you to make sure all’s ok

Was ideally situated close to the final destination of my journey. The staff are friendly and are willing to assist. This is a good family hotel, but I know from past experiences it is also used extensively for business meetings etc. The bed was not as comfortable as I would have liked, lots of "roll together"

ideal location for all things Grimsby. brilliant price, & excellent food, the steak was to die for. On line booking & check in was spot on. As i had left Poole in Dorset at 01-00, to deliver a lifeboat to Meridian marina in Grimsby, it was great to book in at 12-00 & get some sleep. Cheers Mike

A very good size and clean room, thank you. The central heating in my room did not work, but an electric fire was provided on request. One lift did not work on the 3rd day. The other one was very old, scruffy and slow.

The staff were helpful, but the hotel was not at all up to standard. I would not stay at this hotel again. It is in desparate need of a major renovation, the type of guests staying their made a lone woman traveller feel uncomfortable. The Staff were polite and helpful, but it is not a hotel suitable for business people.

Free wifi Hotel is clean and tidy, staff are pleasant but its in need of some major renovation work. At least they finally have one new lift, I used to refuse to get in them and walk up the stairs... So my recommendation would be to make sure you use/wait for the left hand lift. To me Its more a budget hotel and there prices don't reflect this.

We found only one member of staff that was very rude and with a bad attitude towards us. The evening before we checked out he called to us and said dont forget to pay tomorrow before you leave!! My husband had already signed for the food that we had eaten and I said we asked for it to be put on our bill and he still shouted - in front of many others - well dont forget to pay. My husband was very upset to think that there was any doubt of our payment. I went back to him and confronted him and he still used a bad attitude to me raising his voice to me. He said it was a joke!! Sorry but his 'joke' was very flat and others were taken aback by the incident. Maybe there should be staff training to include treating the clients with respect. Otherwise all the rest of the staff were very respectful and enjoyable.

Dining room open until late I stay in hotels around 150 night per year, and therefore know most of the hotel Groups. My recollection mis that the St James is a Corus hotel .... who seem to operate on the basis of buying a cheap hotels and then running them into the ground with the minimum of maintenance. This would be a complaingt if you weren't expecting it.
