The ability of the staff to adapt to greater numbers than expected, and the manager/proprietor(?) to provide a service beyond expectations.

First, value for money second, the room - spacious comfortable and (in november) warm. We also found the duty manager Lesley friendly and forthcoming. We didn't eat but we had a drink at the Christian Wine Bar in the early evening - again friendly service good wine

Room was cosy and clean overlooking car park which was surrounded by trees. Although next to busy roads and main line train still found the stay relaxing and peaceful. No cooked breakfast, but could have continental in room. Plenty of alternatives for breakfast nearby including Cafe in Millhouses Park and Cello Cafe @ Greenhill village 5 mins drive where we had full English.

Clean and attractive accommodation. Friendly and helpful staff - faultless. Good location. Bed a little hard. Continental breakfast disappointing - instant coffee! Would have preferred breakfast in the restaurant rather than in the room.

Quiet location. Spacious room. Although no view room had a pleasant outlook (grass bank/trees). Next to a nice park and bus routes. Easy access to city and countryside.

There is no restaurant at this hotel. There is one next door which is a seperate buisness from the hotel. They only serve a cooked breakfast when there are enough guests in the hotel to make it worth opening the kitchen but there is no may of communicating to the guests if they are serving braekfast or not. The restaurant was not open in the evenings when we were there. Can a place be called a Hotel when they have no restaurant??

It is a very nice hotel in nice grounds and a pleasant room. The reception and night staff were very helpful. For reasons which varied according to who you talked to, the kitchen is undergoing refurbishment at a snail's pace and no cooked food was available. Only continental breakfast in the room (or in reception) was offered. For the later mornings of our stay, we settled for one between the two of us. The adjacent restaurant/bar/night club (presently leased from the hotel as a separate entity) is closed in the morning and all day on Monday and Tuesday so no evening food there either on those days.

Bedroom sparce with two faulty lights and nobody on duty to rectify. The lounge had very poor lighting making it imposible to read.. The restaurant was closed so had to have breakfast in our room with no table and only one chair for two people and the evening meal had to be had in another restaurant nearby.

Although this hotel isn't the cheapest around it does have a restaurant and bar attached to it which is great on a Friday or Saturday night. The rooms are clean and comfortable. We always enjoy staying here. Be aware if you wish to use the free wi-fi in your room as not every room can receive the signal. Some mobile phone networks don't work in some of the rooms either. Be prepared to pay cash for your stay as the credit card machine invariably doesn't accept your card or even three cards....on one occasion.

Efficient check in and out. Bed was not particularly comfortable - gave me backache. Also, hotel was not offering sit-down breakfast due to refurbishment; this might have influenced our decision to book if we had known.

Staff were helpful and overcame some system 'errors' proactively and pleasantly . The kitchens are out of action currently so continental breakfast brought to room - was very basic. Bedroom recently refurbished very well/not over elaborate but tasteful - sadly only parts of bathroom replaced and this did not reflect well on the rest of the good work. Eg bathroom tiles!

The room was well equipped and comfortable, with a balcony so that I could smoke without offence to anyone (or pay the £100 fine threatened!). There was good free car parking and the hotel was a short drive or taxi ride to a number of non-town-centre bars and restaurants of all types, qualities and prices. There was no cooked breakfast available when I stayed, but I understand this was a temporary situation. The restaurant appeared to be of good quality, but was very expensive and was detached from the main hotel itself. It was mainly a general public facility and appears to be separately owned and run.

Room was lovely with patio onto stream. Location was perfect for Chatsworth Show. Rather surprised that hotel had nothing to do with restaurant and bar next door. Bar food was restricted but in fairness they prepared us non standard food. Restaurant was closed on Sunday which would have been good to know in advance.

We chose this hotel due to its location but sadly were disappointed by the lack of facilities it offered. The restaurant was not part of the hotel so evening meals had to be booked separately and no facilites were available for beakfast other than room service continental. The rooms were clean but rather tired. One of our party was in single accommodation and was charged the same as us and received even less for his monies than we did

“Liked the country feel about the location though it was on the edge of Sheffield, and its nearness to the Peak District. It was comfortable and didn't look like a chain type hotel though the offer price would easily compare to several of those types. It was quiet and peaceful with no road noise. ” Ian, Bristol |
