The Belsfield Hotel  

We returned to the Belsfield after 20 years, it used to be a Trust House Forte Heritage hotel. That's exactly what it is, a lovely piece of English Victorian heritage and the present owners are to be congratulated on their efforts to keep it that way whilst offering a comfortable, practical, friendly hotel experience. Our room (22) had an unbeatable view over the heart of Bowness and Windermere up towards Ambleside. It must be a mammoth task to keep the place and large grounds so well kept. We absolutely loved it and we will be returning as soon as we can. The lift is an engineering gem! Our visit coincided with a large American party. They were very demanding, the brilliant staff took it all in their stride - congratulations.

Great location, bedroom had lake view. Staff were very helpful. Pool and sauna. I would stay there again

The bed was a little hard. Breakfast expensive.

The Belsfield has a prime location looking over the lake, the food is excellent and staff very friendly.

I found the bed very hard and uncomfortable. The Magageress however changed our room after the first night and the second bed was much better,

we liked the look of it from the lake we have always admired it . We chose to stay for our Golden Wedding because of its grandure and views of th lake and mountains

we did,nt like the bare walls ready for decorating outside our room,the exterior on most of the building is in dire need of some T. L. C. the old windows desperatly need replacing.

The staff where fantastic, they could not do enough for me and my two boys. Very helpful and nothing was to much for the staff to do if asked, all staff seemed to be happy working at the hotel. 100% recommended

I liked the beautiful views over Lake Windermere,yet it is still close to shops and restaurants. The hotel was clean and warm, beds were comfortable.

Felt it was a little overpriced for what it was, the hot tap in the bathroom didn't work and the bathroom was very small. Otherwise fine!

On arrival we were really welcomed at the reception. We had a fantastic view over the lake. All the staff we met were friendly and helpful. The hotel was very clean and well decorated.The breakfast buffet had a good choice and you could ask the staff for kippers porridge etc if you wished.

My wife says the bathroom was to small. No bath just a shower.

Our room was as requested, with view of the lake which was the pupose of the trip. The room was dated ,but comfortable, however the bathroom and shower are compact, but usable. The tv was fine, tea and coffee was provided, also water was in the fridge. Only meals we had were the breakfast which was self service and hot and in good supply. I would stay again after its restoration

The Lift is ancient and mechanical can be some what jerky, but it works. There was only 1 disabled parking space near the entrance to the hotel I would have expected more given the size of the establishment.

I booked this hotel as a birthday break for my wife. We had a room (Room 5) overlooking the garden and lake which was nice. Breakfast was not included and was £10.50 each. The room was £84, which I thought was expensive. The staff were mostly foreign but had good English and were polite and courteous. We did have our evening spoilt by a noisy crowd of 6 middle aged and elderly people who were in the lounge bar and behaved appallingly. One "gentleman" openly farted and thought it was funny, it stank. Then this crowd where openly whistling for a barman, really rude. They then turned to us saying my wife looked stern, so we left the room. We tried to get a drink from the bar but there were no staff at the bar, this was only 9.45pm. Not what you would expect for £100 a night hotel. Pool was nice and warm with a good supply of towels.

Probably the best location in Bowness with fantastic views over Lake Windermere and mountains beyond. Quiet location in its own grounds but 2 minutes to the shops and a fantastic choice of restaurants. Hotel has some lovely period features, clean rooms and nice decor.

Nothing, but if I was to be picky I would say that the en suite bathroom was very small (but adequate). Mattress to soft for my liking.

Very nice place comfortable good location staff very helpful good services looking forward to returning in the near future, very impressed first time we've stayed there.

Couldn't find anything to fault the place, all good.
