Excellent location, five minutes walk into Bowness and right opposite the cruise boats for lake Windermere. . Hotel itself is looking a bit tired and dated - needs refurbishment throughout.

First Night lack of staff spoilt the experience as turned away from the dining room and lots of empty tables. What made things worse was that I actually rang down to the reception to ask about Dining opening times and was not informed that I had to prebook due to lack of staff..Not at all good, and has made me think twice abot rebooking in the future..

I have been staying at The Belsfield Hotel for 42 years and it never disappoints me. The location is fabulous, the dining room is elegant and the old fashioned atmosphere is just wonderful. I particularly like the lift which must be one of the last of its kind. The view from a front, lake view window is unrivalled. If you book a room at The Belsfield, pay the extra fee for such a room

Great location and easy walk into town. Stunning views across the lake. Excellent gardens to enjoy a drink in and watch the world sail by. Bathroom was way too small. 2 easy chairs in the room would have been nice.

It's a perfect location, lake view rooms are amazing. Private off road parking, which is a must have in this area. Clean thoughtout, and when you consider the size of this historic hotel that's a task on it's own. The 6 acres of gardens are kept to a very high standard. Staff will go above their best to do everything they can to help you. This hotel is up there with the best.

Dear Booking.com having stayed at the Belsfied Hotel winder-mere on sat15th Aug for one night ,we are totally disgusted at various points of our stay. The hotel smells damp the decor is outdated, the carpet filthy . the outside patio are has not been cleaned for years and dirty ,. the table were filthy .the bedroom was supposed to be a lake view only to see half the wall and half the lake . the bathroom albeit was shower only was so small that you could hardly fit in it. there was no space for wash things . the furniture looked like it had come from a charity shop and the service was terrible. the breakfast was like a fast food motorway service station restaurant .for the £180 i paid Im mortified ....never again and Im looking for a full refund .

Great location with stuning views, steps realy should have been gritted, and extremely fortunate not to have been seriously hurt. Lounge was lovely with open fire (although gas) and comfortable room. Adjoing room door miraculously unlocked itself although I had previously checked it was locked, another resident walked into our room as my patner was drying herself after having a shower

The location was perfect for the town centre, close to bars and restaurants. The room was poor. The shower is the size of a telephone box, I am 5'4" and weigh 8stone but could not wash my hair without banging my elbow on one of the shower cubicle walls. My partner is 6' and stocky man imagine how difficult it was for him, the whole bathroom was extremely small. Carpets could do with a clean. Room was a little cold. However on a positive note the bed was comfortable.

The hotel was of a very high standard. We had a modern room which lacked the character of the main building, but was new and lovely. The public rooms in the hotel were fabulous. The staff upgraded us without us asking and we had a great time there. It was excellent value for money.
