Friendly, very polite staff, efficient, good value, well organised, nice atmosphere. We liked the old fashioned style lifts! The pool was cold. |

Friendly and efficent receptionist. Lovely old hotel with brilliant location. No complaints about room and bathroom. Security was excellent. We could only stay for one night as we were moving on but hope to return for a longer stay. |

The location is superb, rooms clean and comfortable, food good and plenty of it. wonderful view of the lake from the bar, friendly staff. The Hotel could do with a few new carpets but I stress this is a minor point for a hotel of its standard. |

Location was superb and the staff were very helpful. The decor in the room was antiquated and not worth the money. Subsidence seemed to be a problem in parts of the hotel including our bathroom. Hotel needs considerable upgrading not just a lick of paint! |

The view from the restuarant is stunning. The location and building is great but the inside is very tired. Decoration was in progress whilst we stayed but it seemed to be just a repaint and it needs more than that. |

I had made a mistake with our booking. Wanda (reception mamager) was amazing & sorted everything out Chris too was great. All in all they walked the extra mile for their guests. The food was great location brill |

Very homely hotel, close to the shops, water. Pictures on the website of the rooms were a lot better than the one we stayed in. We also asked for a double room and received 2 single beds. The swimming pool had a number of leaves and also toilet paper swimming around in it. Also didn't like the pricing of breakfast, very over priced. |

The views over the lake were spectacular. Poor access to the swimming pool. Each and every floor creaked to the extent that I may be put off going again. Very limited dinner menu. The elivator is something out of the dark ages, but was fun to ride in. It's a long time since I slept in a hotel bed with hairy blankets, no douvet covers here. |

The relaxing atmosphere around the public rooms and the elevated lawns above the lake. Excellent service in the restaurant with very good food. Waits at reception at times, due, it seemed from being understaffed. Staff there were often dealing with people on the phone for some time. |

Friendly courteous staff and excellent central position for the town with good parking facilities.Our bedroom which I paid extra for had one of the finest views of the Lake District overlooking Lake Windermere.The hotel gardens leading down to the Lake are attractive & peaceful. We thought some of the rooms & decor were rather tired and certainly in need of a facelift.The tiles in the shower in our bedroom No 22 had simply been painted over which was not aesthetically pleasing although the shower functioned perfectly.Drinking at the bar was not cheap but then where is these days? We realise that this is a very old hotel possibly Victorian in origin and in some instances it has remained in that decade.Basically ready for a revamp. |

A very welcome overnight stay after completing the Dales Way. The room had a lovely view of the lake and gardens. We didn't eat in the hotel so cannot comment on food etc. We needed a room for one night only, on a Friday and had dificulties booking in Bowness as most only do two nights.Rather pricey though. |

The hotel site which affords lovely views. We paid extra for a lake view which we enjoyed enormously but when the window was opened you could see there had been minor repairs to the sash window and nobody had bothered to clean up the remnants - they were left on the window sill. Our room was adequate and comfortable but not luxurious, the beds could have had better duvets with bedding as the ones we had were obviously well worn. |
