The Green Man HotelMulberry Green, CM17 0ET Harlow (Show map) Very good, Score from 280 reviews“The evening meal was excellent . The accommodation block is fine. took”
David,
Cluj-napoca
Only 16 miles from Stansted Airport and just minutes from highway M11/M25, this 14th century former coaching inn now offers comfortable accommodations with private bathrooms in this quiet village. The Green Man Hotel has a quiet, peaceful location in the charming little village of Old Harlow. There are 55 well-furnished rooms with private bathrooms in the wing at the back of the hotel. During your stay, you can enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of the Green Man Pub and Restaurant, which offers fine food and drinks. The traditional bar and restaurant still houses many original features. The exposed wooden beams have given the building heritage-listed status. On some dates, the restaurant can be closed due to private functions taking place. Free on-site parking is available. If you are flying from Stansted Airport, the hotel can offer free parking for up to 2 weeks if you book to stay for at least 2 nights. Transportation is not included, but the hotel can help with information regarding getting to the airport. Hotel Rooms: 55

Cheap base near reception venue.... had OK reviews for price, but maybe other folks standards different from ours, and maybe I'll look more carefully next time! (See other comments below) We had booked a double and a twin. Rooms were very hot, windows opened 5" but not enough to let air in... couldn't sleep well because of this, felt like the heating was on, though it wasn't - my husband kept feeling the radiators, expecting them to be red hot! Everything looked 'grotty' e.g. shower rail was rusty, had rusty marks on bath and taps had either not been cleaned (ever?) or needed serious descaling! Sink overflow was brown and crusty, some bleach might help! Carpet badly stained, some of the bedroom looked like it might have been painted in their advertised 'refit', but they hadn't done the wide windowboard, which was all flaky and patchy looking,,, my son and his partner decided not to stay in their room because it was a) too hot, and b) had a very hard bed, c) room looked generally grotty. On googling the hotel, they had also read reports about bedbugs, which had been a bit off-putting to say the least! They drove home instead. To be fair, our beds had clean sheets and no buggy problems like that, thank God! Just hope no foreign tourists go here, (why would they?) as it's NOT representative of the UK B&B/pub- hotel experience nowadays, most of them have really 'upped' their game, sadly not this place. Didn't have breakfast, considering they 'did' lunch for £4.99, thought breakfast for £7.50 each a trifle steep, in view of cleanliness concerns elsewhere.

The evening meal was excellent . The accommodation block is fine. took The breakfast was not as advertised and the hotel main building needs some refurbishment. The hotel took some time to find as the local direction signs are quite poor.

Very pleasant and quiet. Even the though the hotel was fully booked there were no disturbances. Even with teh windows open all nighyt we had a very good nights sleep. Being part of the public house gave the added benefits of good quality food. Corridors looks a little tatty but this was not reflected in teh rooms which were of high quality and looked recently refurbished

The hotel was nice...good service, good food in the restaurant. Nice location. Took a taxi to the overground which cost between 4-6 pounds each way, then the family ticket for the train was 30pounds per day including all the trains, buses, underground, etc. It was a bit out from London, about 30 minutes to the Liverpool station but to me was worth it since I drove and was not comfortable driving too far into the city. Just down the road from the hotel was an oriental restaurant called Zenz.....OH MY.....it was soooo good, small portions, but very tasty and the staff waited on us like you wouldnt believe....royal treatment. The hotel was a bit worn but it was clean and comfortable.

We have stayed at the hotel before but this year found it very noisy in the early hours with inconsiderate people banging doors etc. Could a suggestion be made that may be soft closures are put on the main doors to the rooms which will make them shut slowly and not just let people open them to their full extent and then let them go. Not very nice at 3-30a.m in the morning.

The staff was really friendly and the room was very clean. This hotel was quite far from the airport unlike we expected. If you need to get to the airport from here, expect to pay a fair deal for a taxi.

We needed a bed as we had an early morning flight from Stansted, also wanted a decent restaurant, which didn't disappoint. Didn't like the soap dispensers in the bathroom, much better to have sachets or small bottles, as both our dispensers were empty.

The rooms were comfortable and warm. The staff were efficient and everything worked well. Food in the Inn was good - good vegetarian options as well. It was good for a short stay. We were happy. There was nothing we were unhappy about.

We pretty well liked everything. I'm disabled and we didn't arrive until nearly midnight on a Friday and the night porter could not have been more friendly or helpful. My wife had some difficulty putting on her make-up as the economy lighting was a little too dim for purpose. A shaving light in the bathroom would have sufficed.

Comfortable, clean room and good value for money. Nice quiet location. Nothing about the hotel itself but more about the pub linked to it. Food was great in the pub however when it came to getting last drinks in as they were closing we we're refused! I thought the ring of the bell meant last orders?!?!?
