Meals not that hot or up to standard of what we like. Steak grissley and tough breakfast only warm
Lovely clean room, with a large double bed. The hotel is situated in Mulberry Green a lovely quiet location. The rooms are to the rear of the pub away from the road.
Hassle to log in to wifi from my room
Quality and comfort for a reasonable price
The friendly bar
Having to walk across the road to our room
New Year`s Eve Dinner was excellent. very good service and the table decorations were smashing
The food was lovely as was the staff very friendly. location was lovely to
Bed was very uncomftable was 2 singles pushed together. The hotel room were not in the old building as it looked like on advert
The bed was huge which is great because my boyfriend is 6ft 3in. Very comfortable and the room was nicely furnished with historic pictures of the location. Very reasonably priced.
Fairly late arriving no food available.
A lot of good teas and coffees in the room, nice and helpfull stuff, really nice atmosphere in the room.
It was cold and we had to go out everytime when we wanted to smoke. No microwave to use in the hotel.
Food was amazing staff happy and very helpful room 128 was big and open stunning big comfy bed everything u could ask for will be returning
Maintanence was needing touched up around room and building but idols place with some history about it but carpets needing glued down curtains in my room falling off ceiling light builbs out room was clean and tidy when I arrived but attention to detail needed as the dust and dirt at the back of the toilet looked like it has been there for ages but a bit tex will sort these things out
Nice place to eat. Helpful staff.
The rooms are not located in the inn but in a block outside with no charming touch. The restaurant was closed for guests. Bar and chairs in the inn were dirty.
Room was pleasant and warm. Bed comfortable.
Lack of staff and facilities in restaurant at Sunday breakfast took the edge off of a pleasant stay.
When booking this hotel it is not all it seems in the pictures. You need to read carefully. Despite its quaint look it is, in fact a "Travel Lodge" style business. No personal touches. The room, in a huge block, is fine for an overnight stop. Lighting is very poor. Bed okay but nothing special. The restaurant is seperate and in the original pub but be prepared for crowds, noise, and a long wait. We gave up and walked into town for a curry. Just not our idea of a country inn.
This is a nice hotel with authentic bar out front where you can have drink, and then go to hotel to have rest. Good value for money as well.
Next to each room there is an eletricity transformator, which makes really loud noises. I had nightmares listening to this noise all night and could not sleep at all (this hotel was booked because we had flight from Stanstead next day), so if you are not big fan of extra noises - do not recommend this hotel. We tried to change room as well, night portiere was very rude about this and said he could not hear anything
Friendly, courteous staff Lovely food
Made reservation for table in restaurant when booking, but when I checked ( half way up France on the day) no table reservation. They were very busy and had to fit us in. Checked when we arrived, reservation on booking form had not been picked up by staff! Could not sleep at all because of continual LOUD humming noise from room next door and security light from private properties directed at our bedroom window. Lights at the side of the bed did not work so one of us had to get out of bed, go to the door, switch off the lights and then fumble back in the dark. We have been using this hotel 3 times a year for at least 5 years and though there have been other niggly problems, this was definitely the worst night ever, especially as we had driven 540 miles up France on the date of our booking, and then had another 310 miles to drive home the following day. Will definitely think twice about booking this hotel in future, we cannot afford to do this journey with practically no sleep after such a long journey travelling up France.
Location is lovely and great for commuting around Essex ,parking is very accessible especially if you have traveled a long distance so easy to get to your room. The pub is lovely ad friendly. The menu great if not a bit hit and miss with what you order but priced competitively.
The reception staff for the hotel just don't do enough to help and do not get back to you if there is a problem. House keeping and maintenance are appalling. We had no toiletries ,wall lights hanging out of the wall ,burnt lampshades broken windows ,dirty skirtings, sliding beds ,no pillows . no wifi , no t.v control , no reception, missing light bulbs, just to name a few things wrong ! We should have thought things were a bit suspect when we could not get into our room easily as it looked like the door had been broken into a few times.
Nice room, clean and the man at the reception desk was really funny.
The bed was not that comfortable, but for one night, it was okay!
Pub and restaurant looked good
Our room was 2 flights up with no lift. Only 2 TV channels available. 2 lights out in room. I asked reception for 2 bulbs. No one came to the room. Broken toilet seat.
Staff good Food Excellent Managers response excellent, listened to what i had to say, and found out why our debit card was not accepted, and gave good explanations to other points raised.
No Lift. I am disabled we were given room on second floor, only suitable room available was on first floor we had to take that not happy. Embarisment at reception would not accept our debit card, need to uniform your card machines. Toilet seat loose. Electric point not working, no warning sign.Bedside lamp not working.Window sill DAMP and scruffy, condensation on windows. Did not like having to go to pub to register and then go outside in cold again to rooms, foyer in room block big enough to accomadate reception area, this woud make your guests a lot happier not having to go outside when it is raining and more comfortable for reception staff.
The location was excellent
Staff at reception and in the restaurant were pleasant and efficient.
Inadequate lighting in my room made it difficult to read . Also TV reception was poor.
The lady on reception was really accommodating, the rooms were clean, nice and quiet location.
