Great location , old world charm , friendly staff , good breakfast.
Very friendly staff, clean comfy rooms, lovely historical hotel.
The breakfast wasn't the best and wasn't very hot, we've stayed here before and it's been excellent. Also Had to pay for the car park which we never did last time.
Beautiful Hotel Gorgeous rooms Great breakfast Lovely staff
Very noisy, floor boards keep you awake, above and below but not sure what can be done about that. Expensive not to get a good sleep.
Location very central & convenient for town. Breakfast at hotel was excellent, food & service. Lovely character hotel. Car park.
Shower in bedroom was very poor & difficult to adjust heat settings.
As soon as we walked into the hotel there was a warm welcome. The room was warm very comfy, it was close to all shops, parking was safe really did enjoy our stay a wonderful birthday.
The only fault i could find was that it was a little noise at nite.
Great location with parking in town centre. Good atmosphere ,restaurant and food
poor heating resulting in a change of room. No bottled water available in the room
Clean, simple rooms and bathrooms, fireplace in downstairs lounges, great parking available. Quirky hallways full of knick-knacks and pictures. Location is excellent in the centre of historic Shrewsbury.
No wifi in bedrooms, only down by reception. The mattresses were uncomfortable, and we were lugging bags up and down flights of stairs to get to rooms with no porter available. For a historic venue, there is not much information either about the building, and the surrounding sights.
The location is excellent and the car parking a bonus. The hotel is very nice with big comfy sofa,s to relax in, in the lounge, and a roaring fire in the fireplace. The staff were friendly and as we have stayed 4 times already we knew what to expect. The bedroom was as nice as all the other rooms we have stayed in and the bed was very comfy as usual. Maybe one day we will stay in the Charies Dickens Suite if we get the chance. Breakfast the next morning was great, everything you possibly wanted. All in all a great stay.
Public rooms Late bar Breakfast
Couldn't find the room in a maze !
Character of the hotel. Friendly helpful staff. Location. Parking on site.
Room could have been warmer.
The staff were friendly & very helpful.
The Breakfast was excellent
Reception was really slow and not very helpful at all
The staff were great especially the bar man. Decor and christmas meal was lovely.
Room was a bit hot.
Old building with loads of character and lovely open fireplace in lounge. Bedroom/ bathroom clean and bed was comfortable. Full English breakfast cooked to order was lovely. Staff were all pleasant. The lift is a must.
Room was very hot dispite having turned the radiator off. We actually had to open the window.
breakfast excellent.Bed very comfortable. Nice ambiance to the hotel
creakey floorboards. Window hard to close in room 112
Very nice and cosy large hotel lounge with lots of sofas and tables with an open fireplace and cute rooms with personal touch on decoration.
The ladies in the reception were very grumpy and seemed to resent being there. The wifi signal reached my room though not my colleagues room and only the reception area was guaranteed to have cover.
Location in the centre of town
Restaurant manager on the ball ...dinner served by the open fire Chefs belly pork meal just the best slow cooked I'd ever had ...well done guys
Near town. Comfortable and warm lounge. Quiet clean room. Good breakfast
Would have preferred better wifi facilities
Liked every thing
Greeting. Reception staff excellent. Cleaning staff pleasant and courteous. Restaurant staff pleasant.
Dim lighting, in bedrooms and public rooms. It didn't add atmosphere, just made everywhere look slightly gloomy. Bar staff - some fine; but not particularly attentive; some seemed barely trained. Breakfast was okay. Restaurant food was ordinary. Tea and coffee, on the whole was abysmal. Weak and tasteless.
The history, familiarity and nostalgia of a hotel I first stayed in in 1957. Faded glory perhaps but for me and many others that is the main attraction. Best location by far with wonderful views from higher floors.
Paying for parking is rather unusual. Awful Wi-Fi coverage!
Nice communal areas and wonderful room with great bathroom. Breakfast was excellent.
A bit creaky but part of the charm!
