The hairdryer in the bathroom was too hot to hold. Neither of the phones in the room worked so calls had to be made using a mobile which was a pain as outside calls do not get answered. I asked twice for someone to look at the phones but I was just ignored. Room service food was bad - food was cold and wine was warm. The room was far too hot and no fans were available. I asked for an iron and an ironing board which took 3 hours to locate and I needed it there and then. On the gym, 2 out of the 4 treadmills don't work and the foot straps on one of the rowers does not work which makes if impossible to use. The staff member on reception is rude, stand offish and makes you feel like he is doing you a favour letting you stay there. When I asked for the iron he answered by saying 'room?' Nothing else.

Location Breakfast on new years day was appalling one young lad to serve everyone. Continental breakfast could be improved not a lot of choice. One guest went into the kitchen to ask if they were going to be served.

Being a small inn, the staff is very helpful and the location very convenient, local shopping access is very handy and is the reason why, when I go to Leicester from Montreal Canada, once a year to place flowers on my husband's grave, I would not stay anywhere else, I feel totally secured in that specific Brook Westfield House. Blaby village is as we say "so cute and so homy", already looking forward to go back next year! Do not change anything, many years approx 25 years my in-laws and of course my sweetheart husband we had many dinners when it was called 'time out' so for me going to Brook Westhill is like a pilgrimage, different name but same ambiance.

The young lady who served breakfast was cheery and polite. The bar maid was unfriendly, as though it was too much effort to serve us, even though there were never more than 8 people in the bar area. My colleagues room was ok but mine had an overpowering smell of mould and the shower dripped.

Rooms were of decent size and well equiped, the shower was weak. There was no sense of service, the staff just seemed poorly led. Every day our room only had one towell, they forgot to top up the tea and coffee on 3 out of 5 days and getting front desk to answer the phone was almost impossible. There are 4 treadmills in the Gym and 2 were faulty. Generally it could be a very good hotel but seems badly managed, just lacking the "can be bothered factor"

Free wireless internet. Plenty of car parking spaces. Room was not 100% clean (dusty). Lack of plug sockets. Poor breakfast service- not enough staff on duty and took ages to come round to table to take order.

I managed to leave my mobile phone in the hotel room. I didn't spot that until I got well on the way home. When I arrived home your receptionist Jill had left a message on my home phone informing me that she would post the phone asap. The mobile arrived within a couple of days. Please pass on my grateful thanks to all involved. Regards David Catherall

The rooms were nice and clean. Swimming pool was clean but small. Breakfast was very good. Reception area cramped, receptionist vague. Bar area draughty, cold and characterless. Bar food very plain and not well cooked. The staff seemed to be badly trained and uninformed. The Leisure staff seemed disinterested and the pool was cold. Changing rooms were not very clean.

Reception; helpful, efficient, business-like/professional at all times. The heating in the room did not work. I was cold! Difficult to get to centre of Leicester in the morning, while I recognise that this is not the hotel's fault it is still something that irked at the time (as walking would have been quicker).

The night porter was very obliging and opened up the bar when a party of us arrived very late and very thirsty. ALthough he was the only person on duty he was very good. Disappointed I coundnt use the swimming pool. I have osteoarthritis and cannot use the metal ladder. I can only use a pool, if it has graduated steps. Also the restaurant was very understaffed and breakfast on the second morning was by any standards chaotic.

The room was excellent-large and very comfortable and clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially the young lady who was on duty in the bar and restaurant the evening we arrived. When we ordered dinner there were several important ingredients of some of the dishes unavailable-which rather defeated the object of the offered dishes.

The Greyhound Coaching Inn and Hotel
This traditional 18th-century coaching inn has been run by father and daughter for 20 years. With superb cuisine and Grade II heritage-listed status it is very individual, unlike a branded hotel.
