This 16th-century guest house serves wholesome, locally sourced organic food in a beautiful rural setting. Located in the scenic Lake District National Park, there are spacious rooms, and free Wi-Fi. All food is Fair Trade, organic and seasonal also offering vegetarian and vegan options. The Cote How’s pork, dairy products and fruit and vegetables all come from suppliers in Cumbria and North Lancashire. Each individually furnished room is traditionally decorated, with some rooms featuring open fireplaces. All rooms have tea and coffee making facilities, a hairdryer and a private bathroom. Guests at the Cote How can enjoy 4 acres of natural gardens with a further 7 acres of meadow down to Rydal water's edge. The guest lounge has an open log fire, with a homely bar serving local ales. There are a range of walks and bridle ways directly accessible from the house. The restaurants and pubs of nearby Ambleside and Grasmere can be reached in just 5 minutes by car. Excellent location and a general feel very in keeping with the wonderful surroundings. Great service and very accommodating and friendly atmosphere. Feels very homely and relaxed. didn't like leaving...

Cote How is an idylic location for anyone wanting to chill out and destress. It is close enough to Ambleside and Grasmere for convenience yet far enough away from both locations to totally relax. The propriotor was warm and friendly without being intrusive. The information provided was comprehensive enough to ensure that all interests were catered for. They made recommendations for activities and places to eat which fully lived up to our expectations. Cote How is unusual in that it does exactly what it says on the tin. We had a lovely stay and would have no hesitation in returning. Our only complaint was that we had not booked for a longer period.

The gh was in a good location with nice views. I had an upgrade to the Rydal suite and for what we paid the standard was very poor the so called king size bed was two single beds pushed together the furniture looked very tired and cheap the large chair had all sorts under the cushions. The breakfast was awful my partner left everything on the plate and on both days only had a yogurt with some mixed fruit & a slice of toast. We could not find a hair dryer and when we went downstairs to ask for one the comments of 'did you search everywhere' was not quite the answer we were looking for. We have been to the Lake District on many occasions and considering the money we spent this gh was by far the worst gh we have ever stayed at.

The genuine welcome from Caroline the owner, who went out of her way to make our stay enjoyable. The room /ensuite was just what we expected, Light airy and luxurious. The organic food was absolutely delicious, We enjoyed our stay and hope to go back one day

Friendly welcome on arrival. Staff more than happy to help out with activities and ideas. Breakfast was very good and nice selection to suit your mood. It looked like the room had been cleaned but not set up for the arrival of new guests. Things such as a second glass, cup, hand soap etc arrived after the first time the room was cleaned

Fantastiskt läge, det ligger precis intill många otroligt vackra promenader. Vänlig personal som har bra kunskap om närliggande området. Mycket bra frukost och fika (otroligt god vegan flapjack). Hotellet är ett mycket vackert hus. Miljövänliga produkter och mycket omtanke för natur. Wi-fi mottagning mycket svag i sovrummet. Bättre i övriga utrymmen men fortfarande lite skakigt. Dålig mottagning på mobilen generellt men kan vara ett plus 8-) Bussar gå sällan till /från Ambleside och är opålitliga (inte hotellets fel).
