FAQs about hotels in Milton Keynes

A Hub of Entertainment

Best known for its concrete cows and legendary roundabout system, Milton Keynes is just off the M1 motorway linking Birmingham and London. Its proximity to the latter triggered its development from village to new town in the 1960s.

Milton Keynes Village still exists, between tranquil Ouzel Valley Park and Willen Lake with its peace pagoda and watersports. Next door, Gulliver’s Land children’s theme park is bordered by the Grand Union Canal, whose banks have cycle and footpaths.

In the town centre is the aptly named MK Hub, an entertainment core near the train station. In addition to accommodation, bars and restaurants, it houses the huge Xscape complex, comprising the Airkix Indoor Skydiving centre, cinemas, and the UK’s largest indoor ski slope. Nearby are the shops of Centre: MK and Midsummer Place.

On the town’s outskirts is the National Bowl entertainment venue, and Bletchley Park, where the German Enigma code was cracked during World War II. To the east Woburn Abbey has a large safari park, while north-west is Silverstone, home of the British Grand Prix. The Red Bull Racing F1 team are based in Milton Keynes, and the MK Dons are the local football team. The Open University is also headquartered here.

Of the many Milton Keynes hotels, apartments and B&Bs on Booking.com, most have parking and some have swimming pools.

MK central offers so much variety in such a short distance all within 5minutes or less to the Central Train station. The shopping arcades have a great mix of shops and restaurants to appeal to everyone and Xscape is another close entertainment area that provides activities and bars/restaurants in 1 convenient mall. The e-scooters & e-bikes make a superb alternative to Ubers or driving and the road system is very simple & well planned out.

Milton Keynes is a much misunderstood city. There are a lot of great places here (not just roundabouts!). There are old towns within in the city that have great pubs and restaurants. The shopping is very good too.

I can not express how grateful I am for the service I received. It is a spotlessly clean house with everything you need for a short stay. I loved the living room most, exceptional place to chill out after a busy day. Separate thanks for biscuits and fruits. I stay in this place every time I come to Milton Keynes and highly recommend to other travellers

We didn't have time to visit the centre but, as a returning local, I know that there is a good selection of shops if that is your thing. Bletchley Park was fantastic but next time we will allocate far more time to explore it fully. We visited friends and family in Stoke Goldington and Newport Pagnell, both still pretty in their own way, and ate at the Swan Revived.

I’ve stayed at this hotel a few times as have some of my family when they’ve visited from abroad and found it all very clean, tidy and the staff are very helpful. It’s usually my go to hotel when I visit Milton Keynes. I go when the rooms are a bit cheaper, I visit friends who still live in MK

What surprised me is for a large corporate hotel the staff were very friendly and supportive. The room was large and well designed, I liked there was no drawers for clothes. For such a central location the hotel was very calm and quiet and the lifts were quick! Top of the list was the breakfast, nothing overcooked (mushrooms buttery not slimy). Although charged for parking, we did not use the car at all and Milton Keynes is a tricky place to park in the centre. The restaurant was reasonably priced and great pizza.
