In the heart of the Oxfordshire town of Burford, the 18th-century Golden Pheasant boasts oak beams, stone fireplaces, and hearty food.

Burford Lodge is a refurbished 19th-century Cotswold stone building with a private garden. Just 15 minutes’ walk from Burford town centre, it is well-situated for exploring the scenic Cotswolds.
Score from 271 reviews Very good

Staff members excellent, lovely food, our room was in the Building away from the main hotel so was nice and quiet
I like the hotel 's plentiful breakfast.
Everything! The accomdation, staff, location - brilliant! We ate in the evening, the menu was first class and the food absolutely superb. Definately going back!
This hotel was a great base for our driving visit to the Cotswolds. Plenty of free parking, easy to access. Staff were very helpful and obliging as well as friendly. It's within walking distance of the town. Double glazed windows cut out traffic noise completely. The restaurant served excellent food and the included breakfast is very good. Would stay here again.
Staff were very good and friendly. Food was also good
The room was fantastic for a young family with the room almost like a suite in terms of the niche for the single bed. The staff were great at Breakfast and the meal for the kids in the bar area was really great my eldest daughter loved her Scampi. The staff were all friendly and helpful and unlike other Burford hotels it felt a place where families were really and genuinely welcome
I cant complain about anything about our stay which was all good.
a small and very basic room, noisy. It was a warn night, but they did not provide a fan
The hotel was easy to locate; and the staff were very polite and helpful. I only needed the accommodation for the purpose sleeping after attending an event elsewhere, and it provided a clean and comfortable place to rest my head.
Along with the neighbouring hotel, the Travel lodge, the price for B&B seemed to be raised for that night only. I paid £85 for single occupancy, which was £20 cheaper than the alternative. But both had more moderate prices for the rest of the month. I felt I was being penalised because of the other reunions taking place that weekend.
We booked a room with a large four-poster bed for fun. It was well worth it. The bed was incredibly comfortable. It is rare for us to come home thinking the hotel bed was more comfortable than at home but this one had the edge.
The bathroom smelled of damp. It looked perfectly clean but the smell was not pleasant and should be fixed.
Position. A good stopover, easy to find, excellent parking, easy walk into the town. Beds comfortable and room in annex very quiet therefore good sleep. Breakfast fine.
Expensive for B&B Meals also seemed expensive but as we did not eat in I cannot comment on value.
We had one of the best meals of our whole trip here. Lovely food and warm and friendly service. Loved the township of Burford.
Nothing to dislike!
Lovely hotel with very pleasant atmosphere. Very good breakfast and food in the evening was superb. Staff was very friendly and helpful. As we were travelling with our grown-up daughter and our dog we had booked the family room, which was nice and comfortable and we were offered a complimentary single room too. The Cotswold Gateway Hotel is in an excellent location to visit the Cotswolds for a few days leisure break.
Unfortunately the Hotel is situated at a busy roundabout. As our room was facing towards it we couldn't keep the windows open during the night.
dual aspect room with two beds and good facilities
Room accommodation generally. The food and service. Bar and restaurant and foyer ambience. Plenty of car parking.
Very low light bedside light impossible to read with.
Staff were very helpful and friendly. Was an amazing place to spend our wedding night highly recommend the hotel the staff were always willing to do anything to make our stay even better!!! So happy with the hotel.
FOUR POSTER BED A* FOOD (AS ALWAYS)
TOO MANY STAIRS!!! BUT DO NOT LET THAT PUT YOU OFF IF YOU ARE YOUNG AND/OR FIT. NICER ROOMS ON TOP FLOOR ALTHOUGH THEY ARE ALL GOOD. GROUND FLOOR ROOMS AVAILABLE.
The hotel is on a hill above the town center of Burford, a picturesque Cotswold village. Hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating. Our room was cozy and the bed was comfortable. We enjoyed our meals in the restaurant, which served a variety of delicious foods.
Warm and welcome pleasant atmosphere
Warm Night , Heavy Traffic ALL Night Little Sleep
Excellent room and nice bathroom
The room was a little dark even with all the lights on
Friendly welcome with no hassle although it was only for one night. Good breakfast in the morning to set us up for the rest of our day.
This was easily the nicest place we stayed in on our visit to the UK. The the food was delicious - we had dinner in the pub while the breakfast was all that an English breakfast should be. The facilities were great and our room a delight. But most importantly the staff, right across the board, were helpful, enthusiastic and energetic. If all this sounds like a rave review, it is!
The staff was helpful and friendly. The room was quiet and clean. The location for Burford is very good with a nice walk down the hill.
The water pressure in the bathroom/shower made it impossible to wash my hair as it would have taken all day to rinse the shampoo out. The prices in the restaurant are too expensive compared to the quality of food (which was standard pub food). E.g. a chicken/bacon salad was priced at £15.95.
Independent hotel with a lot of attention paid to guests….
