Room was small and overlooking the car-park. No heating and the weather was very damp and cool. Towels did not dry, and because of damp atmosphere returning to the room in the evening was uncomfortable. When this subject was broached with the owner she was very dismissive, and said she wasn't cold, so therefore we shouldn't be cold. She said it was too early to put on the heating, which would be switched on 1st September, but the hotel is closing on 1st September for the winter!
She reluctantly gave us an electric heater which did help, but the attitude spoiled our stay. Also breakfast very rushed, I asked for grapefruit segments, which were for some reason kept in the fridge in their kitchen (the yoghourts were out in the dining room so assume that the fruit wasn't as they did not want guests to have it?!). I was given some grapefruit, but before I had time to eat it my cooked breakfast was unceremoniously dumped on the table, with the comment "Oh sorry, we are rushed off our feet today". I have never had another course delivered to me at any hotel, and I stay at a lot, before I had finished the previous course. It is very bad form, and speaks volumes about the attitude of the staff. We were told we could go to breakfast anytime between 08.30 and 09.15, but what they really meant was they wanted everyone out by 09.15 am. The owner needs to go on a "people skills" course. At the end of the day they should realise it is the guests who are important not themselves!
We would definitely not recommend this hotel to anyone else.
